My name is Mya and I am a very patient instructor and understand that students learn at a different pace, after all everyone is an individual!

I received my degree in Geology from Yangon University in Yangon, Burma in 1993.  After I moved to New York City in 2005, I earned a M.A. (Geology) from The City College of New York in 2010.  I learned crocheting and sewing from my mother.  I also took a bauble, bangle and bead string class, Draping I and II classes, and pattern making I and II classes from Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.  

I’ve been teaching private sewing lesson (since 1998), beading and pearl knotting lesson (since 2009), and Burmese language (since 2014) and I have loved helping my students.  
Although trained in standard teaching methods, I developed my own method to fulfill my students’ needs. 

I am looking forward to helping new students to achieve their goals!

How to Crochet a Bandana

Materials
1 ball (50gm), size 2 100% cotton yarn 
Hook: C - 2.5mm and E - 3.5mm

Making Tie:
Ch 50, (ch 2, 5 dc, ch 2, sl st) in 3rd ch from hook, sc in each ch across.

Border Stitch: Ch 1, (dc, slst) in ch space/the post of the double crochet.

 Also known as half cross, basketweave and continental stitch | - Simple small diagonal stitch. - Can be worked in any direction.

Needlepoint for Beginner | Tent stitch

You can use this edging stitch on any project. 

Ch 1,(dc, sl st) in the post or chain space.

Ch = Chain
Dc = Double crochet
Sl st = Slip stitch

Crochet Edging/Border

1. Slip Stitch - sl st 2. Single Crochet - sc 3. Half Double Crochet - hdc 4. Double Crochet - dc 5. triple (Treble) crochet - tr

Basic Crochet Stitches in One Row

Triple (Treble) Crochet (tr)
Yarn over twice.
Insert hook to chain/stitch.
(Yarn over and draw through 2 loops) 3 times. 
Note: Do not count 4 chains as one triple crochet.

For Lining: Cut 1 of Top, Cut 2 of Crown, Cut 2 of Brim |  Sew side seams of Crown and side seam of Brim, Press - open seams | - Attach Top & Crown |  Attach Crown & Brim, add 2 straps on lining | For Outside hat- Repeat the same steps using Lace fabric
(do not need to add straps) | Sew lining and Outside hat together, leaving 3" opening to turn inside out. Hand stitch to close the opening and sew topstitch 8 lines - 3/8" apart.

Ch 2, sc in 2nd ch from hook, rotate, sc in single loop of last ch made, *rotate, sc in 2 loops at the base of last sc.* Repeat from * to *.
