Art is the absolute BEST!

Art is a wonderful teacher!! He is enthusiastic, reliable, knowledgeable and very personable. I feel extremely fortunate to have found Art to teach my 4 year old daughter.

My daughter has been eager to start learning the piano. I needed to find someone that is able to teach at her young level and to be able to connect with her shy personality. Amazingly, Art is able to make her laugh, smile, learn and have fun all at the same time!

My daughter has fun learning and we often find her practicing on her own at the piano. Actually, she considers it playtime at the piano! She is learning simple songs after just a few lessons. She is very proud of her ability to play and is always eager to see Art so that she can learn more.

I HIGHLY recommend Art as a piano teacher. It is obvious that he loves music, this is evident in his weekly teachings. As a parent, I couldn't be happier!!! Art is setting a firm foundation for our daughter's love for music.

Kris B.

Anaheim, CA

As a professional musician, I'm lucky to be performing with many of Southern California's top professional lead vocalists, and background vocalists. A few years ago I was privileged to study with one that taught me the most amazing vocal method. It really impressed me and completely transformed me. It elevated my skill level, and really made me wish that I had been taught the method when I was a young student. I'm now inspired to pass the method along to anyone, young or old that has an interest in learning to sing well.

About Kris

Kris B has a Bachelors degree in Music from California State
University Northridge, and has worked professionally in a variety
of styles including jazz, Latin, rock, funk, r&b, and classical. He has gotten to work with many of the finest musicians in Southern California, and has teamed up to perform clinic/performances with musicians such as Luis Conte, Richie Gagate Garcia, Taku Hirano, and Roland Gajate Garcia. He’s also performed clinics with Kenny Wayne Shepherd’s great bassist, Tony Franklin,  who was with The Firm, as well as Richard Fortus, guitarist with Guns N’ Roses.
      Kris
is also very happy to have gigged with many world class musicians including Michito Sanchez, Kevin Ricard, Clare Fischer, Otmaro Ruiz, Smokey Robinson, Teena Marie, Denice Williams, Stu Goldberg, Art Davis, Doc Severenson, Tim Bogert, Rique Pantoja, Derron Johnson, Doug Lunn, Ron Stout, Rob Whitlock, John Pisano, Fred Katz, Gloria Gaynor, Jeff Kashiwa, Vinnie Falcone, Massamba Diop, Casio Duarte, and Dylan Wilson, among many others. Kris has been hired for many different types of gigs including a variety show where he had the pleasure of performing with the host, actor/comedian Jason Alexander. He currently plays regularly with  John Heussenstamm from The Surf Punks, which is a burning trio that includes Baba Elephante.
Kris has a mastery and expertise on his instrument that stems from his vast amount of experience. It enables him to enlighten students with instruction that can encompass many styles of music. Because he has great depth and wisdom, a student having difficulty with any aspect of their playing can consult with him, and Kris will instantly produce a methodic strategy to get the student on their way to solving the issues, allowing them to continue to evolve. Kris was on the faculty at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood from 2001 to 2013. There he taught the double bass drumming class, the odd meters class, afro-cuban drumming class, caribbean drumming class, jazz drums class, rhythm section workshops, live playing workshops, applying technique to the drum set class, music reading 1,2,& 3, fill fest (drum fills class), funk, r&b, and hip-hop classes, as well as open counseling, and private instruction.
Kris has studied privately with: Luis Conte, Peter Erskine, Jeff Hamilton , Joey Heredia, Jimmy Branly, Gerry Brown, Wally Snow, Roy Burns, Peter Donald, Joel Leach , Karen Ervin, John Magnussen, Brian Kilgore, Rob Carson, Les De Merle.

*** Lesson Details ***
The lessons are tailored to the goals of the student. Fundamentals are taught within the context of the styles of music that the student prefers. As the students skills and knowledge increase, his exposure to a wider palette of musical styles will increase. Styles taught include: Rock, jazz, funk, r&b, pop, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, Caribbean, classical-symphonic.

*** Specialties ***

Kris is awesome!

Kris is awesome! You will never meet anyone who loves musicor teaching as much as Kris. I startedwith him almost two years ago, and as an adult, beginning voice student I ampretty inhibited. Kris has an enthusiastic manner about him though, that reallyhelps you relax and feel more confident as he instructs you. When I started outthere was a real tightness in my voice that was probably more psychological thanphysical, but he showed me some important techniques for voice relaxation andamplification. For someone as shy about singing as I am, some of histechniques may seem a little outlandish at first, but they really do work! My karaoke buddies tell me that I sound even better than before! Iwholeheartedly recommend Kris to anyone who is looking for an enthusiastic andknowledgeable teacher.

Cymbaline O.

Fullerton, CA

Beginning with classical technique, working with exercises and warm-ups to increase flexibility, tone, and range. Studying a variety of styles, based on both the needs and preferences of the student and the teacher, including classical, Broadway, jazz, contemporary, pop, etc.

About Cymbaline

Cymbaline has been performing all her life. She began dance training at age 5, singing on stage at age 7, piano instruction at age 8, and flute at age 9. She has pursued the performing arts in her training, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music (Vocal Performance and Education) from Azusa Pacific University, as well as a Masters in Education from Grand Canyon University. Cymbaline has been seen on stage in many musical theater productions, including playing Marian in The Music Man, Anna in The King and I, and the Blue Girl in Shout! She has also done theater and film, including playing
Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice. She has taught voice, piano, and flute privately, as well as voice and musical theater classes. She has a great desire to pass on the knowledge she has gained through education and experience to anyone who has the desire to learn. She loves seeing students grow in the knowledge of music and performance and learning to apply their new skills. Music is the universal language, and the ability to play and sing will open up new doors of expression for each individual.

*** Lesson Details ***
My students can expect a strict teacher who also shows compassion. I will do everything in my power to help the student grow and achieve. It is up to the student to apply what they are learning so that they can move forward. I teach out of a variety of curriculum, depending on how the student best learns. For flute, I prefer the "Standard of Excellence" series, which, if they are in a band program, can be used for both group and individual study. For piano, the "Alfred" series is a very good tool, with lesson, performance, theory, and compositions books in multiple levels. For voice, I have a number of books that I use to pull material from depending on their level of ability and experience. I teach a classically based curriculum, focusing on correct breathing, posture, and technique. Once a person knows and is able to follow the rules of singing with a quality sound and solid technique, that person may then learn to bend those rules for other styles and genres that require different technique. After three months with me, I expect students, especially instrumental students, to have basic knowledge of reading music. They should be able to recognize notes and rhythms and where they are on the piano keyboard, or how they are fingered on the flute, or where they are (at least approximately) in their voice. I also will expect them to have some understanding and application of dynamics, tempos, time signatures, and other basics of music reading. After six months, I expect them to be able to play or sing one or more short-length songs all the way through correctly and consistently, with musicality. I will focus on details, and not let students who truly want to learn develop their ability in a mediocre capacity. I expect my students to practice, will encourage them to give 100%, and help them strive to be a little better each day than they were the day before.

*** Specialties ***
I am first a classical singer, and teach classical vocal technique as a foundation to any voice student. I also perform musical theater, and have taught music theater repertoire as a bridge between opera, or classical style singing to more modern forms. I am a dancer and have performed in musicals and operettas, and can teach stage presence, projection, body movement, and facial expression. I studied flute and played in wind ensembles through college. I also have played piano and accompanied for many years.

Eulis K.

San Diego, CA

Vocal training for students of any level of experience. Whether you would like to sing classical, jazz, pop, musical theatre, R&B, opera, country, gospel, folk or any other style, I would like to help you find your true voice and learn techniques that will help you sing powerfully, healthfully, and artfully in any genre. The voice is an instrument, and like any other it can be used to create beautiful music and to express the deepest emotion. My goal will be to help guide you in a direction that will bring you the most longevity, flexibility, and enjoyment from your voice.

About Eulis

---------- Now teaching in Orange County AND San Diego! ---------

Hello! Thanks for visiting my profile. Allow me to tell you a bit about myself:
I have been performing as a musician for about 20 years and acting since I was a small boy. I started my musical education as a woodwind player and settled in to the wonderful world of singing over time. Music has opened me up to so many opportunities from touring the world to performing in marvelous concert halls and working with some of today's most revered artists, as well as giving me the opportunity to expand my performance through act
ing in various plays, musicals, television, and film.

Performing has been my salvation. It has been a best friend and constant source of joy, and I share this gift with others so that it might offer them the same. After 10 years of teaching, I have new experiences to draw from and share with my students. I've spent my last 6 years performing with Disney in Anaheim and this past year touring Japan in their Tokyo Disney cast, and I must say that my experiences have given "performance" a new depth. I'm excited to dive back into lessons with fresh ideas that will mesh well with my tried and tested teaching techniques.

Originally from Los Angeles, I now reside in Orange County and I'm especially proud to be expanding my studio to San Diego as well! I am so excited to share my experiences with the people of this beautiful and inspiring town. If you're interested in learning more about my lesson style, feel free to contact me and I'd be happy to talk with you about a plan to help you reach your goals!

My Teaching Style

Over the past several years I have focused much of my personal growth on developing my ears' ability to pick out and pinpoint vocal “placement”, resonance, subtleties of timbre, changes in pitch, breath support, air speed and flow, pronunciation and diction, and in general, the way in which all of these work together to create style. From these assessments, I work with the student’s particular needs to address each area individually and based on the learning style of each person.
To illustrate to the student their method as I see and hear it, as well as ways in which they might make changes to facilitate the ease of singing --be they changes of tessitura (range), length of phrase, tone color, the release of unnecessary tension etc.-- I make use of vocalise (vocal exercises), simile and metaphor, examples from recorded performances, demonstration, self assessment, and techniques to “trick” the voice into acting in a different way, in addition to videos, diagrams, and texts on anatomy and physiology. I feel that all of these tools provide a unique and personalized learning experience for each student.

Eulis is an amazing teacher.

He is vibrant, encouraging, and gives great examples (and often humorous) examples to help better understand working the voice.

In just my very first lesson, he pinpointed huge holes in my singing that I never even noticed before in recordings of myself, and attuned each exercise specific to my needs.

I'm looking forward to improving with him!
(and he definitely deserves all five stars)

Amy has a great command of technique and such an easy manner. She is super-friendly and was always positive with me. I've worked with several voice teachers, so I know what there is out there to choose from. Amy is definitely in the upper-echelon of teachers in her style, her personality, and her depth of knowledge. She sings pretty great, too.

For over 20 years Amy has impressed me with her singing and performance. As a performer, she is absolutely TERRIFIC! As Mixed Company's Music Director, Amy has elevated our music, our singers, their musicianship, and their performance to such a high level that our top clients, (Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Five Crowns Restaurant, and Summit House Restaurant) rest easy knowing that the overall quality of our performance cannot be equalled anywhere in the Christmas Caroling industry. Amy has my heartfelt gratitude, and my highest recommendation.

6 Tips for Singing and Playing the Piano at the Same Time
Artists like Billy Joel and Elton John may make it look effortless, but singing and playing the piano at the same time takes time and practice to truly master!
