Teri H. Vancouver, WA

About Teri

I'm a professional composer, teacher, and pianist - and I like to keep active doing all three throughout my community. On July 31, 2013 TakeLessons featured me on Seattle King 5's morning TV news program - I taught a miniature lesson and discussed the impact of piano lessons on the brain. My piano and composition lessons are very in-depth, but also very flexible. Because of my thorough knowledge and experience with music, I can teach all ages, skill levels, and an array of important subjects - including piano, ear-training, music theory, improvisation, composition, creativity, music history, ethnomusicology, and percussion. I cater to each student's interests as well as incorporate many of these subjects into my piano lessons so that every student gains a thorough understanding of music ...

Teri has been instrumental in bringing music back into my life. Her teaching abilities allow her to adjust to students specific needs. She takes the time to learn and understand her students which allows them to feel comfortable and move at a pace that best works for them.

About Julia

I have a Master’s in Opera Performance from the Boston and New England Conservatories as well as graduating from Vocal Performance programs at Boston University and Western Washington University. I have sung professionally with Boston Lyric Opera, Children’s Theater Companies, churches and synagogue and have toured on the east coast as well as Athens, Greece. Premiering new music is a specialty - I can help you prepare your pieces for auditions.  My students have successful auditions for college opera and music theater programs, and as choir soloists. Students gain a larger vocal range and an easy, natural way of singing whether it is in a rock band, choir or as a soloist. Together we find the joy of singing while building a solid technique. I also work with small children as a ...

She is awesome. She has a different way of teaching vocal. She makes singing fun and easy. She has a way to interest people in vocal. I wanted to be a pop singer and I still do I never listened to Broadway music much but she gave me a list of songs from Broadway and I loved it! It's just so different and fun working with her.

Jane is an excellent instructor. She is wonderfully enthusiastic about music and makes her students feel the same way. My daughter started with piano lessons but eventually switched to harmonica... no problem for Jane! In addition to the lessons, Jane recorded my daughter's music - very cool! - so now I have copies of to listen to. She comes up with interesting music that appeals to my daughter and keeps her engaged. She researches different artists to demonstrate different ways the same instrument can be played to give my daughter a broader perspective of what she can do with her instrument. Jane is a terrific teacher. We've been with her for years, from grade school up through high school, and wouldn't have anyone else.

Expanded my range and strengthened my voice.

Don has a lot of experience, worked well around my schedule, and is very professional.
From day one he gave me exercises and study material to take home. Due to his experience he could pinpoint my weak points and give me something to work on for next week. If I couldn't make it on my lesson day Don was very open and helpful with rescheduling.
Don is friendly, punctual, and can I say experienced one more time :) I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to expand there music knowledge.

JACK IS TERRIFIC!

I wish we had found Jack years ago. We hired Jack specifically to help my daughter prepare for an audition. The audition was a success! Jack's approach to teaching is no nonsense and precise, but he has a warm and gentle way about him that motivated my daughter in a way that others haven't. Aside from his teaching ability, I was pleasantly surprised with Jack's sense of urgency and flexibility in responding to special scheduling needs. This is the first time I have been inspired to write an on-line testimony. I hope it helps other students discover Jack's tutoring.

If I looked for a million years I could not have found a better instructor than Jack. He is a peach. I am an older student with Osteoarthritis and I'm hoping that violin will both help avoid Altzheimer's and exercise and stretch the fingers. Jack is sympathetic to my needs and is helping in any way possible. I always look forward to Jack and his sunny personality and expertise. I'm sure that I have reached the epitome of "difficult students", but Jack is always patient and pleasant. He is a true professional in every sense.

Jack is a great teacher! He teaches well and professionally. He picked out the right text books for the lesson which I think very importance. My girls piano skills improve significantly. He also makes it fun to learn so the girls love it. Highly recommend him to everyone.
