I learned from some great musicians out west that the ukulele can be really fun and have more range of notes too when tuned GDAE as a violin would be tuned. Ever since I learned that I have loved playing the ukulele and also have fun helping others to become well versed in playing many styles of music on there. One can play rhythm, melodies, improvise, write songs, play almost any style of music on a ukulele.

Hi, my name is Andy. I've been teaching music professionally for the past 15 years. In that time, I've worked with students of almost every conceivable age and ability level on a wide variety of instruments (ukulele, guitar, bass guitar, banjo, harmonica, piano) and am here to help make your musical dreams come true.

I customize my lessons to the needs/learning style of each individual student with a focus on technique, music theory, and songwriting. With all that in mind, I'd love to hear about your musical goals and figure out the best path to get you there.

I love playing ukulele. It’s fun, it’s easy to learn, and people get a big kick out of it! Chords are easy to play and the technique is simple. Whether you are picking up an instrument for the first time or adding to your current repertoire, ukulele is always a great choice.

Every single lesson is designed just for you. We focus on your goals while having fun playing music together. We talk about good practice habits and how to achieve new heights with your abilities. You learn to play songs that you recognize as well as improvising your own.

Together we will discover the many roles that the ukulele can have including rhythms, melodies, fingerpicking, and solos. I will also help you understand the fundamental principles of music. This will take the guess work out of your playing, enabling you to make solid choices with consistent results.

I personally adore the ukulele, especially as a starter instrument! I've been playing uke for 7 years now, and it's the perfect accompaniment whether you're on stage or in your bedroom. It's easy to travel with, too, if you have a busy life and are always on the go, ukulele is easy to learn and get good at quickly (but you obviously still need to put the practice time in!!) I write a lot of songs on the ukulele & love the unique style and sound it has.

Intermediate
Learn about common variations of the tonalities you already know and start to venture into more complex rhythm ideas like polyrhythms. Also start to build the chops to learn parts more accurately when learning songs.

Advanced
Expand into more complex polyrhythms as well as asymmetrical meters. Also expand harmony and melody to include modes and chromaticism. Push your skills through original creations or original arrangements of existing material.
