Whether you're 3 or 103, if you're playing violin (or starting to play!) I hope you're EXCITED about it!! Over the years, my students have said that their lessons are/have been their favorite times of each week. I believe learning to play viola should be full of joy, learning, thinking, and feeling. Bring that joy alive for yourself by partnering with me as your musical guide. I bring over 30 years of experience and pure joy to my work, and I'd love to share that with you!

Students can expect a relaxed, fun, and encouraging atmosphere for learning. The violin can be an intimidating instrument- you will make a lot of unpleasant sounds before you start sounding great- and that's okay! I'll be there to guide you and help you reach your goals.

If you're already an experience player, you can expect me "workshopping" your technique. We will analyze your form, practice patterns, and playing style, to ensure that you are growing and improving from the moment we begin. I will push you to become the most expressive player that you can become, but at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

What adult ...

I am a professional cellist with a graduate degree in music and extensive performing and teaching experience. I look forward to working with you or your child to help accomplish your goals and have fun making music! Lessons are tailored to each students needs and abilities, and I have vast experience working with students of all ages and abilities, from elementary students to college students. I teach online and in-person lessons.

I can provide private lessons for beginner-intermediate level violin and viola students who are in elementary-middle school. I also provide beginner-advanced cello lessons for students of all ages.

I've been teaching violin for about 10 years and have recently received my Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Performance from CU-Boulder. Having taught as a private teacher for younger students as well as a Teaching Assistant for a String Methods class in my undergrad, I am extremely comfortable working with a wide range of ages and skill levels. I teach using the Suzuki method, as well as basic music theory, note-reading, and other skills based on the student's needs and skill set.

Please note: in order to offer the best possible education for students, I am not offering online lessons for violin beginners who have no previous experience.

Whether you are a complete beginner or a more advanced student looking to improve your skills and musicality, I can help you wherever you're at! I have been teaching violin since 2008 and have both my bachelor's and master's degrees in violin performance. I stress a strong technical foundation in all my students through correct posture and relaxation while playing. I grew up in the Suzuki method and have been trained to use it for my beginning and intermediate students. I am a classically trained violinist and teacher, but can teach other genres as well!

When I teach violin, my lessons address students' performance goals while also emphasizing that the music-making experience should be about fun and enjoyment. I bring enthusiasm and curiosity to lessons as I facilitate students' musical growth.
