Hello Students,
I have been playing most of my life. I started playing professionally at 17, playing with a number of professional bands playing all over Michigan. I have been teaching drum students since the age of 19, teaching well over 500 students to date.
Teaching students has been one of my passions with music. I hope to motivate my students to learn to play and love the drums as much as I do.
I work with each student on an individual basis to help them learn and understand drumming technique using books and techniques that will help to develop instinctive skills and ear technique.
I work with snare drum / rudimental technique with all my students and drum set technique, as most students want to learn how to play a drum set. Many of my students are in school band learning snare drum and percussion technique. Basic snare drum technique is important for any student to master and understand to learn to apply to snare drum and drum set technique.

Garrett is the instructor for you!"

My 14 year old son had been playing drums for an hour or more every day for several months, and was making fair progress. He was convinced he could learn the drums on his own. But between his first and second lesson he improved exponentially. We were clearly going down the right path.
While my son was uncomfortable with the idea of taking lessons from someone he didn’t really know, Andy established a strong rapport with him by the end of lesson 1. And he was very eager to come back for lesson 2.
We intend to continue lessons with Andy for the foreseeable future."

My child was pretty new to drums and has advanced so far under the direction of Tom. He also has been a great support to bring him up to speed along with introducing him to new music and broaden his musical talents. I highly recommend Tom if you are looking for a teacher that's patient, offers fantastic lessons and is passionate about the instrument!"
