Song-based music theory, using Edwin Gordon's Music Learning Theory as a foundation.

My experience and education in film scoring (composing music for film) in Berklee College of Music requires not only a deep. understanding of theory, but also the ability to apply these skills to create something innovative in a fast-paced environment. As a highly flexible, intuitive and quick-thinking person, I am able to adjust my teachings based on what my students need AND want.

I am comfortable teaching basic to intermediate music theory, from scales & intervals to triad, 7th, and 9th chord formulas & chord progressions.

*Utilizing different games and activities to help each student learn Music Theory concepts.
*Explaining and experiencing Music Theory in areas not used in the classroom, based on the students learning styles.

Some of the past events students participated in, included a Football Event during the Super Bowl, a Summer and Winter Olympic Event and few practice challenges, where students had to complete a series of Music Theory Events to advocate for their success. All of the students did very well completing the events needed and learned new techniques in creative ways.

I enjoy sharing the necessary knowledge of music theory and history as it applies to all music forms. Luckily, i find teaching music theory through playing and improvising is best without having to be bore down with too much reading and text.

Each lesson will prioritize you. I will run many examples of topics of music theory and we may even be able to show real examples of it in music, and in the musical instruments you play.
