Been playing the violin for over 40 yrs. Started in elementary school and held the coveted "Concert Master" designation all through high school. Been playing fiddle since 1985. Twenty years experience as a dance fiddler, and the last several years studying swing and traditional Irish. I play in three bands, all different genres. I consider myself so lucky to be blessed to be playing an instrument. It is one of the best kept secrets to life. This is a point I like to stress to my students. It enhances your mind, you can make wonderful friendships with like minded people, and constantly learn new tunes and genres. It just keeps you young at heart. I love spreading the Gospel of music.I consider myself so lucky to be blessed to be playing an instrument. It is one of the best kept secrets to life. This is a point I like to stress to my students. It enhances your mind, you can make wonderful friendships with like minded people, and constantly learn new tunes and genres. It just keeps you young at heart. I love spreading the Gospel of music. I am very patient and will teach my students everything I've learned over the past 40 years. *** Lesson Details *** I give 30 minute and 60 minute lessons. I recommend 30 minute lessons for beginners. I teach classical techniques for holding the instrument. Scales and intonation work are important, and can be integrated into simple songs so as not to be boring. Teach sight reading and auditory learning. Auditory is more important as Music is an auditory art. I am easy going and teach what the student wants to learn as everyone is on different levels and has different ways of learning. I also teach violin chords, and applied theory as to improvisation for playing. All skill levels welcome. I use handouts from several different music books and will tailor them to your skill level. I do expect my students to find some time to practice what I give them. I really want my students to get all the bang they can for their buck *** Studio Equipment *** Living room/open area setup for lessons with music stand. Parents can sit in on lessons. Parking in driveway and on street in cul de sac. *** Travel Equipment *** Stand, and my instrument and books. Student must have their own instrument. *** Specialties *** Methods: Sight reading, Auditory reading, some Suzuki, bowing techniques, genres; Old-Time, Irish, Bluegrass, some swing, cajun. Currently playing in three bands.

    Teacher's studio
I wish I had found her years ago! Over the past 20 years, I've had 3 other teachers. And although they were great musicians, I didn't relate to their style of teaching and I didn't feel like I was making progress. After the first lesson, Sharon has given me the confidence that I can do this and I feel that I've already made progress. What makes Sharon different is that she recognizes your level of skill and teaches to that level with progress in mind. She encourages you to relax and and enjoy playing. I'm excited about doing that!
