We learn by teaching. That is why I love to teach, because I love to learn. I have made many great connections while teaching music to people and one of the ways to do that is to work together on a common goal. I started teaching music because during my own studies I have discovered many quick learning strategies that make playing music fun. I teach from my home studio as well as via Skype. Many of my strategies I've discovered on my own. Now I want to share these ideas with you. Scott is a multi-instrumentalist loop master whose music spans a wide range of sounds and genres. With an education in music performance and a reputation for having a good time this laid back musician is no amateur to the music scene. Scott has performed hundreds of shows and numerous festival appearances, including 10,000 Lakes Festival, Wakarusa, Harvest Fest, Solstice Shakedown, Dogstock, Bela Luna, Camp Euforia, etc. Great stage presence and crowd interaction are a couple of things this guitarist is known for. *** Lesson Details *** We begin each lesson by tuning our instruments. For beginners we will learn the anatomy of our instrument. Next we will start will a 5-10 minute warm up. Following that we will take 10-15 minutes to review our previous lesson material to indicate whether or not the material has been learned. If so, we will build from the previous lesson in order to maintain progress. The remaining 10 minutes of each lesson we will summarize what we covered in the lesson and assign homework for the week. Lessons with me are always productive and fun. I am a laid back passionate musician who can give you the tools to be a confident, competent player. Together we will learn your favorite songs and the theory behind them. All music involves theory so don't be afraid of it. Instead grab it by the horns and take charge or your musical experience. Beginners will learn chords, scales, modes, instrument anatomy, history, and western musical theory (the language of music). Intermediate to advanced players will learn: alternate chords inversions and voicing, advanced ear training, altered scales and chords, chart reading, etc. Improvisation and song writing are important practices for all musicians who hope to truly express themselves musically. In my 15 years of study and performance I have learned many quick tricks to becoming a great player. Let me show you. *** Studio Equipment *** 2 studios, 1 smaller one with drums and keyboard (band scenario), 2nd room is 2nd living room in a finished basement with fireplace, couch, chairs, literature, guitar, ukulele, and keyboard. *** Travel Equipment *** I provide worksheets and writing materials. Students should provide their instruments. *** Specialties *** I specialize in teaching theory to beginners and intermediate guitar players. I can teach in the style of pop, rock, blues, bluegrass, and acoustic folk. Lessons take place in my home studio or online via webcam.

Scott is an incredible ukulele teacher. He is patient and truly makes learning to play fun. He keeps all the lessons relevant to my playing ability, yet provides a good balance of challenge. I highly recommend Scott as a teacher of any instrument!

Scott is an excellent guitar teacher. He makes it fun to learn while gearing the lessons toward the student’s needs. In return, this allows the student to excel in learning the guitar at their own pace. I definitely would recommend Scott as guitar instructor.

wish I had more time for MORE lessons Scott has been a great teacher, his patience and ability to teach at my pace have been wonderful! I also love that he finds ways to teach music I like. My only regret is that I don't have more time and money to schedule lessons every week! I hope that changes soon. I love my Uke, and I love lessons with Scott! Mahalo
