I have been playing clarinet for twelve years and have taught students of all ages and levels. In my lessons we will work on basic fundamental techniques (breathing, technique, etc) while also learning pieces that you can bring home and play for your family. I believe playing the clarinet is something that gives people the ability to increase their creativity level, confidence, and individual expression which is important to our daily lives. I want my students to be able to grow as individuals and learn to have fun with music through playing the clarinet!

Brittnee is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I'm looking forward to my next lesson. I wasn't sure whether online lessons would be harder, but the format wasn't a problem.

I have been teaching clarinet professionally for 6 years. I have taught students from beginners to advanced. My teaching experience is based on fundamental knowledge and musical expression. Seeing making the progress of a student makes me feel happy and gives me inspiration to reach more with the students. Thanks for letting me provide a reference for Alex. I have taken alto sax lessons from him over the years, starting about 4-5 years ago. Alex is a great musician and teacher. Each lesson was consistently structured for: sound quality and listening, technical work and reading, duets, and improvisation. Rather than heavy music theory, he would instead provide routines to reinforce these concepts. He was always patient, and emphasized what I did well, with subtle redirection to correct problems. I definitely improved under his guidance and teaching.

The only reason I stopped seeing him was that my job became very demanding, and I could not devote enough time to practice and justify the time and cost of lessons. But even when I showed up unprepared, he was understanding and flexible to work with me.

If it would have been possible to have Alex come to me, I would have welcomed that.

My lessons adhere to classical pedagogy with an emphasis on reading notation, as well as applied ear training. Whether you haven't picked up the instrument yet, have been playing recreationally on and off for a few years, or study at the collegiate level, my approach builds student's classical repertory, tone production and voicing for all registers, fast technique, and accurate intonation. I always use a variety of fundamental exercises alongside pieces that teach what the student is working on.

About Kyle

I don't just teach students how to play an instrument, I teach students important creative techniques for developing musical skills. Making music is a life skill that helps children and adults of all ages realize, develop, and utilize their expressive and creative talents. In my studio, I focus on

Kayla (daughter)
Overall, he's a fantastic teacher! My daughter always comes out of lessons with a smile on her face. He's inspired her to work hard and go from 10 minutes a day of practicing-- what her beginning band teacher prescribed, to 30 minutes to an hour. Kayla and I are both very thankful for the quality of his lessons as well as the motivation he gives her! Thank you!
Ben
Kyle gave me a few lessons during my college woodwinds methods class on the sax. As a pianist attempting to learn a wind instrument Kyle's advice and time were a HUGE help to a total beginner like myself. He definitely knows the sax inside and out and without his help my sax test grades in woodwinds would have been considerably lower than what they were. I definitely encourage any students looking for a sax teacher to choose Kyle because of his extensive knowledge on the instrument and approachable nature.
Jordan
Kyle has helped me with some very difficult passages in my solo repertoire! Incredibly helpful! I made a lot of progress in little times.

"Jon is helping me to relearn the clarinet after many (47!) years of not playing. I wish I had half the brain power I did back then. But he's very encouraging. My goal is to play with a concert band just a couple of months from now, so he's customizing my lessons to meet that goal. When I encounter challenges, he's very good at explaining ways to overcome those challenges. I really like working with Jon and feel lucky to have found such a good teacher."

"I love taking lessons with Bill! I'm returning to clarinet after playing as a child, and Bill has made the entire process really fun and rewarding. He's helped me gain a deeper appreciation for the instrument and the music we're learning, and provides the right amount of challenge to keep me engaged and progressing while still enjoying the process. Bill has really deep music knowledge, which makes him a really versatile instructor. He's helped me even enjoy doing scales!"

"Josh is a great teacher, and I highly recommend him as an instructor for both adults and youth. I took clarinet lessons many years ago as an elementary school student. I have long had an interest in returning to the instrument, so I recently signed up for a series of lessons with Josh. Although it had been several decades since I first played the clarinet, Josh helped me get comfortable with the instrument again and provided terrific instruction on all aspects of the clarinet and clarinet performance."

"David is very pleasant to work with and will spot any notes that are missing or that does not balance with the rest. Phrasing and intonation are important.
I was given techniques to better prepare exercises and studies. Davis will suggest tools to improve playing: method books, reading, videos and work sheets.
I always start my lessons with a series of questions I have prepared for him and he has so many comments on all of my questions.
Having a world-class teaching like David Blumberg is gold to me. I am past 68 now and I have never had so much fun working with my clarinet."
