I've been teaching guitar for 10 years. I tailor lesson plans to help each individual student reach his or her goals. I teach chords, rhythm playing, and various scales (for soloing), and I believe a good foundation in proper technique makes for the best guitar players.

About Victoria
My name is Victoria. I'm originally from beautiful San Diego, California, but I am now a full time professional musician based out of Philadelphia. I've instructed students (of varying ages and backgrounds) from all over the country on bass, guitar, live performance, and song writing. This includes one-on-one instruction and group lessons. I received a certification in live performance, studio work, and songwriting through The Contemporary Music Center, now located in Nashville, TN. And I I Finished my Bachelor's degree at Eastern University

I've toured all over the country with acts such as Talain Rayne and played bass on his album "Attic Lights." I also completed an internship in Nashville, TN with hit songwriter, Kate York.
For the past five years, I've played with the band Element K (under Shore Bets booking agency) as the lead
singer and guitarist. I've played shows all over the Northeast including (but not limited to) Xfinity Live, Wells Fargo Center, Hard Rock Cafe, The Tin Angel, Borgata AC, Ballys, Tropicana, and Seacrets in OCMD.
I love music and the role it has played in shaping my life. I value the experiences and wisdom passed on to me by my music mentors and instructors, who not only had a meaningful impact on my music career but also immensely influenced my development as a person.
I look forward to having that same positive impact on any student I instruct :)

*** Lesson Details ***
I like lessons to be, first and foremost, an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. I try to create a laid back and comfortable learning environment for all my students. Music is fun, and I guarantee that there will be plenty of good times while taking lessons!
Now, let me also clarify that my positive attitude and laid back demeanor are not excuses for students to be undisciplined and uncommitted. I promise to work hard toward your development as a musician to make you the best you can be, and I appreciate the same commitment from all of my students.
Music should be enjoyable, but also rewarding and enriching to your life! I don’t want to sell that short!

Below is a basic rundown of what a student can expect to learn while under my instruction. I would first like to preface this information by saying that I fully recognize that every student is different; therefore, I tailor lessons to fit an individual’s needs and goals. Because of this, the priority of certain skills tends to vary from one student to another, as does the order in which this skills are taught. I also want to note that I tend to use some self-made resources (charts, explanations, etc) in addition to published books. Taking into consideration the aforementioned variables, here is the basic rundown of the material I try to cover with students, in the general order it is taught:

-Understanding of guitar parts (anatomy of the instrument) and basic terms (ie note, chord, etc).
-Names of strings (E-string, B-string, etc.) and corresponding numbers for strings (1-6), and which fingers are given what numbers.
-Tuning of the instrument
-Basic technique (how to finger a fret board, hold guitar, hold pick, etc).
-How to find notes on the fret board/chromatic
-Basic rhythm concepts and counting (whole notes, quarter notes, time signatures, etc)—usually involves clapping exercise, single note playing exercises, reading rhythm charts, and learning what different note values look like.
-Basic concepts of “keys”
-Basic major and minor scales (especially for “warming up”)
-Chords (mostly basic open chords)
-Strumming
-Learning songs to put concepts together
For more advanced students, we will likely get into the following:
-Power chords, bar chords, and complex chords beyond majors and minors.
-Scales beyond basic majors and minors
-Music theory (chord construction, modes, etc).
-Knowledge of gear (for those guitarist who wish to branch out to electric guitar)—bass players will already have to know some of this before moving to more advanced work since they already require an amp.
-How to play with other musicians and instruments (collaboration, listening, understanding each instrument’s part, etc).

[To give students a basic timeline for these skills, one can expect to be playing open chords within three months and probably their favorite songs within 6 months]

SONGWRITING TEACHING METHODS:
-Review slides about basic song structure and anatomy of songs (verse, hook, etc)
-lyric and vocal phrasing
-finding your voice as a writer
-exploring environments and conditions that foster one’s creativity for writing songs (preference for outdoors, quite secluded spaces, etc).

LIVE PERFORMANCE:
-Breathing/relaxation exercises
-Movement/watching footage of self
-Watching footage of others
-Acting/stage exercises to get out of your head and into your body
-learning common problems with live performances and becoming comfortable with fast, on-the-spot trouble shooting (and how to avoid some problems before they begin).
-Finding your stage voice, both in singing and speaking.
-Developing your stage persona

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in the living room
Equipped with guitars, bass amp, guitar amp, guitar cables, and tuner.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Student should provide his or her own guitar (and amps when applicable)

*** Specialties ***
I'm currently a professional musician that sings and plays guitar and bass for pop and rock music. We perform in front of thousands of people each week so I'm very comfortable giving live performance instruction as well.

About Paul
***My goal as a teacher***

I try to teach what the students are interested in and make it fun and interesting so that they learn the lessons and their favorite songs. Every student is different and needs to be taught in a way that makes learning easy and fun for them.

I have a passion for all people and all ages and am blessed to be able to teach from the very young, (ages 2-5 Toddlermusik lessons) to teens and adults.....all the way to senior citizens. I've had many older students all the way up to a 93 year old gentleman who is taking singing lessons and asked me to put music to his lyrics. We have recorded over 50 songs together.

***Background***

I started playing trumpet in 5th grade and knew that music was for me. I also liked playing with drums and piano also because they seemed exciting. I've competed in WSMA (Wi
sconsin School Music Assoc.) for many years which taught me a lot about performing for judges, being relaxed, and the importance of preparation.

I started playing the guitar and bass guitar when I was 13 and have never stopped practicing and performing since. I also have done a lot of writing, recording, producing, and have a Pro Tools Studio for students to use.

***College and Teaching***

I began teaching music lessons in college and enjoyed it very much. I received my B.A. in Music from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. There I was very much involved with guitar, piano, voice, trumpet, and being in bands and writing music. After receiving my B.A. I also took 3 years of Education classes at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. I write, produce, and perform my music along with performing with bands around the Midwest.

***Life in Music***

After receiving my B.A. in Music, I continued teaching and opened up my home studio. After a year and a half I had enough students that I was able to quit my factory job and teach music full time. I've been teaching, performing, and writing music ever since.

***Performing and more***

I have been on stage performing music since I was 11. In school band, marching band, competing in music competitions, and in bands touring the Midwest.

I have recorded many CDs with bands and on my own. My most ambitious project was a CD of my original music called, "Girls". I've performed my music and promoted it by being interviewed on Milwaukee radio stations along with internet music sites such as CD Baby. It is very exciting talking on live radio about my music and my passion. It is also even more exciting, and scary, playing my music live on the radio, lol.

***Instruments Taught***

I have been teaching for over 2 decades. Students take lessons for:
* guitar (electric / acoustic)
* piano
* violin
* voice
* drums
* trumpet
* saxophone
* harmonica
* music theory / ear training
* studio recording / songwriting

I also give kindermusik lessons to 2-5 year old all the way up to senior citizens 70-93. I play parties, concerts, and Nursing Home performances.

I am experienced as an online (Skype) instructor, and I have taught online lessons worldwide. I've witnessed great results from my online students (both national and international).

I hope I can help you with all of your musical goals and get you going in a positive musical direction.

I meet Paul about three months ago, While not a complete beginner, I had tried to teach myself thru out the years and picked up a lot of bad habits. Paul helped me to see and fix my habits. Paul is a very qualified teacher, of many instruments, drums, keyboards, guitar, and others. I'm 59 years old, Paul doesn't mind my age, doesn't treat me like I'm too old to learn new stuff. And is more than willing to see me thru complete guitar instruction. Thanks Paul...

If you are brand-new to the guitar, I'd love to jump right in and teach you a fun song right away during your first lesson. I like making this as fun as possible while you're learning a lot about the guitar. If you already know how to play, I'd like to help you gain a better understanding of how the guitar applies to basic music theory. I want to help you truly gain your independence as a guitar player. In my opinion, there are only two things that really matter when learning how to play the guitar: 1) Having fun and 2) Learning a lot. That's what I hope that you can attain by learning from me.

About Kevin
Hello! My name is Kevin, and I am looking forward to teaching you everything I know about music! I've been singing at Walt Disney World for over 23 years (and I still am currently) with the Voices of Liberty, the Dapper Dans of Main Street, and Four For A Dollar. I have a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Penn State University. Even more than singing, playing the guitar, arranging for a cappella, and playing piano, I love to teach! Ever since I was a sophomore in high school, I've wanted to be a teacher of music in various capacities. My favorite aspect of teaching several private students each week is that every individual student has a different story: What is it that you want to accomplish? Would you like to sing, play piano, or play guitar? Would you like training in music theory? Do you want to eventually have a career in m
usic? Will this be a hobby for you? Whatever your goals are, I am excited to know your story.

Students will learn how to read music in standard notation. Depending on the style(s) of music the student is most interested in we will either work on developing a classical style technique or spend our time working on more popular styles of music.

About LeeLee
While I teach many styles of music, I emphasize foundations in classical technique and encourage all of my students to have a basic understanding of musical principles in order to strengthen their playing and comprehension of the music. I received my Bachelors and Masters of Music in Guitar Performance from the Peabody Conservatory and currently am working on my Doctorate at the University of Arizona; I also teach and perform throughout the Tucson area. All of my students are encouraged to participate in recitals and performances while they are taking lessons. I believe that sharing your musical talents is an important part of learning an instrument.

Do you want to learn how to SHRED? I've been teaching online and private lessons for over 30 years; students of all ages, levels & styles. I have a bachelor's degree in music with a special emphasis on guitar and music theory, and I've toured the world with an international metal band (Manowar). I'm a super-shred guitar virtuoso, so I can help you if you want to learn how to SHRED (which a small percentage of teachers are able to teach). I am also very good with beginners, and students of all ages! Through my extensive teaching experience, I have developed a teaching style which caters to each student, helping them meet their specific musical goals, while at the same time, having a lot of fun!

About David
I’m a professional guitarist, songwriter, and recording artist, respected by my peers and the industry as one of the top 10 shredders and fastest guitarists in the world. I’m well-known for playing 7-string over-the-neck scales and arpeggios, string skipping, and mastering many guitar techniques. This expertise has brought me many high-level guitar students from around the world, while I am still also very successful teaching beginner guitarists of all ages.

I was a member of the metal band Manowar from 1988 to 1995, playing on the epic, certified double-platinum album “The Triumph of Steel” and co-writing 5 songs on that record. I toured all over the world during those years, regularly performing to crowds of 10,000+, in over 50 countries. In later years, I played in front of some of the biggest rock and metal crowds all over the w
orld, including 70,000+ people at Earthshaker Fest 2005 and 40,000+ people with my own band DSG at the First Annual Magic Circle Festival in 2007.

I set out on my own from Manowar in 1995 and attended Roosevelt Music University in Chicago to further my guitar studies. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music specializing in jazz and classical guitar, music theory, and composition.

I continue to record and perform live all over the globe. I have recorded and appear on over 26 CDs as a guest solo guitarist, and there’s more to come. Even before my days as lead guitarist of Manowar, I had already received numerous accolades. My technique and blistering speed on the guitar won for me the moniker “The Shred Demon”. Such revered artists as Michael Angelo Batio, Joe Stump, Rusty Cooley, George Bellas, Uli Jon Roth and Tom Hess have testified. George Bellas has said, “DSG should stand for Dangerous Speed Guitar”.

My playing styles vary from classical to shred metal and everything in between. I teach the beginner to the advanced/master student, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, classical, and bass guitar, in various genres ranging from classical to metal to country to neo-classical. With 40+ years of playing professionally, and 30+ years of teaching, I use my expertise to cut off the fat and get down to the quickest ways for my students to become better players, allowing my students to excel at a faster pace. I look forward to taking YOUR playing to the next level in the shortest amount of time, and we can have a lot of fun in the process!

Ive been taking lessons from David for about a year. He is very versatile... everything from Blues, Classical, Rock and of course Metal. I've been playing for years, but decided to go to him to learn to solo better. He is great with beginners, from kids to experienced guitarists. He is absolutely the fastest guitarist I have ever seen, especially sweep picking. But, when he slows things down, he has tons of tone and feel, and I have learned a lot about that just by watching him play. He is educated in music, and has much experience from a life, as far as I can tell, dedicated to music. He truly seems to care about your playing, and seems to enjoy developing students into better players.
