A Note From Francesca:

My official bio is listed below, but perhaps more important than the things I have done are the things that I am doing. I am now approaching my 15th year of teaching. I love to teach! I carry a minimum of 30 students, but have carried more then 80 at one time, and have never once complained. My waiting list cycles based on my performance schedule and recording schedule. If you don't see a time that works for you, feel free to reach out and see if we can find something that works, as an artist, my schedule can be quite full but also quite flexible. I love my students, I get to do what I love all day and I am sure it shows. I have a blast discovering new ways to experience music with "my kids." I call all of my students kids even though most of my studio consists of young adults. I try to have a young air in my classes at all times as it just makes the process so much more fun for everyone.

I've seen it all in through years: kids, adults, beginners and advanced students. I am personally very interested in being the most versatile musician possible and I love being able to share my knowledge with my students. We can study anything and everything from Classical Guitar to Electric Guitar Shredding; from Opera to Kelly Clarkson; from Tchaikovsky to Little Richard! I love getting students to dabble in little bits of all genres, often getting even the most skeptical student singing and playing comfortably in a matter of just a few weeks. My students will be able to read music for their favorite tunes and understand how to improvise from the start. Once you come in, you'll be hooked. You will have fun because I am having fun!

I encourage all of my students to share their favorite music with me. It affords me the opportunity to learn more about what they desire to learn and what types of music they enjoy. We will learn with your music often. After all, isn't that why you are coming to see me? I will introduce you to new sounds and styles, but will foster your love for music, and do my best to never force my music on students. I feel I learn as much from my students when I truly listen to them and their music as they do from me.

On site lessons are available for artists recording demos, rehearsing bands and setting up their own studios.

On a side note, I love seeing students at my shows! I am a full time musician and can be seen playing with my band, in my own solo project and in various choral settings. Check out my website and see what I do outside of the classroom. My students get a kick out of the idea that they can buy a CD with their teachers face on it, and to be honest, so do I. Many of my students have their own music out on iTunes and YouTube. Many more can be seen performing around town in solo projects and professional ensembles.

I feel obligated to share my joys and experiences-

Not many people have been blessed to sing alongside as many renowned musicians as I have - I've been lucky to be welcomed in both the commercial and classical worlds and they have both afforded me venues to use my voice and express the most vital corners of my soul. To find your purpose through art is one of the greatest gifts you can receive. And to be able to do that in front of thousands of music lovers live or over the airwaves is a surreal experience.

It'€™s funny, my classical cronies are impressed to hear my stories of packed rock gigs at the House Blues and national touring festivals like Warped Tour and my rock buddies ask to hear my stories of Disney Hall performances with the LA Phil. To be honest, Iâ'm impressed to be there too. Sometimes, I look around and think, how did I get here? How did I get lucky enough to live the dream, to find a home in music?

I've been luckier than most. I've had GREAT mentors who have always pushed me forward and shared their wisdom freely with me. Part of the classical musician's central goal is to educate. That'€™s a value I carry into my rock projects and production studio. Work smarter, not harder. I have come to be known as one of the top Musical Mentors & Artist Development Experts on the west coast. A behind the scenes- diva of dream building with the skills to push artists to the next level- the ace up the sleeve of many of today working talents. In my award winning studio, I spend time coaching the young voices and faces of today hottest TV shows seen on ABC, Nickelodeon, and the Disney Channel, but I still have a soft spot for up and comers in the indie music world. Having written and performed my own music for decades, I not only lived the collegiate experience of the elite classical performer singing for presidents and world leaders, but also the dingy road of the rock musician who'€™s showed one night to a packed stadium full of fans and showed up another, thousands of miles from home to play to a coffee shop of 5 people. Francesca is fantastic!! By the end of our first lesson I already had a basic grasp on so many elements and was able to work my way through a couple songs! I didn’t expect that at all. I cannot learn something without wanting to immediately begin sharing what I know. That's what inspired me to begin teaching, and it continues to drive me today.

Music Theory is a field of study which enables performers and composers to better understand the "nuts and bolts" of their craft. It can be exciting, and I intend to make it so by applying the concepts we discuss to real musical examples in all genres.

How I Teach Guitar:

I am a patient, consistent and authentic teacher who maintains a positive, low pressure teaching environment. My teaching style is "student centered." I believe it is important for students to learn and understand music at their own pace and on there own terms in order to achieve the best results. I do not "harp on" students to practice more, but rather, I am constantly searching for ways to instill self-motivation in my students. I will teach my students whatever they want to learn. However, I teach currently with their music of interest, a progressive curriculum of technique and theory based repertoire that will enhance playing for any style of guitar. Specifically, all of my students are taught to read music - not just classical and jazz students, but rock and blues students too. Also, I think performing is very important for a student of music, so I have frequent student recitals. Recitals are a lot of fun and a good way for students to feel proud about their progression. I like to have recitals every three months and have all of my students play some music that they have been learning. I believe student recitals should be a "no pressure" event, so I never make students play in them if they don't want to. But, really, they always want to.

What my students should expect to get from my teaching:

I believe each student progresses at their own rate and students progress the fastest when they are interested. I help my students to continually progress, and more importantly, I help them become more and more interested in playing music. My students will be surprised at their own abilities as they develop a love for playing the guitar.

Curriculum,  I use a myriad of curriculum and books from the Suzuki Method to that of my own. I really try to custom make a different curriculum for each student. In general, I will use a method book specific to the style of music that the student is learning, and with that will assign solo's and other technique building repertoire in addition to music that the student is requesting to learn.

Practice:

I have no specific time requirements for at home practice, but I strongly suggest daily practice to all my students (I give younger students a practice schedule checklist to help them to remember). Inevitably, students who don't practice will quit playing.

We practiced the new cadence for example of the deceptive cadence, the plagal cadence, and the phrygian. we learnt the basic root progression. a standard method of connecting triads with roots a fifth apart is to hold the common tone in the same voice and move all the other parts to the closest possible chord number. We learn about mediant triads s well.some ways using cadence that I can expand my harmonization practice is in general, when tempted to part write or analyze a chord in common-practice music as iii (in major), give the context further thought. i imagine with this knowledge it ill help me to compose a better harmonize song.
We practice together the scale degrees that are designated by Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3...), chor ds are similarly designated by Roman numerals (I, II, III). For example, in the key of C major the notes are C,D,E,F,G,A,B and we have designated them as 1,2,3,4,5,6,7. However, when we consider the triad chords in the key of C we have Cmaj, Dm, Em, Fmaj, Gmaj, Am, Bdim. These are designated I,II,III,IV,V,VI,VII. When speaking about these chords, for instance in the key of C major, we would call Gmaj the five chord, Dm the two chord,

The easiest way to find an interval's name is to first, count all the pitch names present, including the notes themselves (ignore sharps and flats at this point). Then, find out (had it been missing a flat or sharp) what type of interval it would be, depending on whether it is perfect (a 1,4,5,8) or major (2,6,7). If there are no sharps or flats, you are done. If there are, figure out if the flat or sharp decreases or increases the distance between the two pitches. If it increases the distance, the interval is augmented. If it decreases the distance, and the interval would otherwise be perfect, it is diminished. If it decreases the distance and the interval would otherwise be major, it is min that is what I learnt

Mariana was great! Very professional and able to explain the techniques in a very clear way. When I began, I was very nervous and self-conscious. She was patient and kind and never made me feel embarrassed!

She really knows her stuff and technique. I'd been to a few voice teachers before and they were great singers, but they didn't seem to have to really KNOW the techniques behind singing. Mariana clearly is a wonderful singer and has great training in what she does.

As a music teacher I have a great love and passion for music theory. I feel like it is such an important part of learning any musical instrument that so many students seem to struggle with. I like to take a fun but structured approach to learning music theory. I work with each individual student to help them develop personal goals to work towards whether that is working through a theory book, preparing for a theory exam, polishing their ear training or even just strengthening what they already know. I hope to help you take your music theory knowledge to the next level!

I am a harpist, pianist, arranger, composer, performer and lover of music. With over 10 years of experience teaching both piano and harp lessons. Although I graduated from Brigham Young University in Idaho with a Bachelors in visual communication, I have continued to stretch my skills as musician and teacher.

I perform frequently and love sharing my passion for the harp and piano through teaching so others can also experience having these beautiful instruments in their lives.

I teach piano and harp students of all different ages and experience levels, although I have an especially great love for teaching children and youth. I studied classical piano for over 12 years, and classic harp for over 11 years. A huge part of my music education was focused on theory and as a result I have a great love of having a strong foundation in musica
l theory.

I strive to help my students develop a love music that can last throughout their entire life while still learning proper technique and theory. I strive to help students set individual goals and then structure lessons to help these students reach each of their dreams.

I really enjoy composing and arranging so something that I especially love to do is help students play music and songs that they want to by arranging music specifically to their individual levels and skills. I've found that this not only helps motivate students but also adds an extra fun aspect to our lessons.

My passion is sharing my love of music with those around me. I would love the chance to meet you and hopefully share this passion with you!
