Song writing for me is a process.
To be able to go through the process, one has to have certain musical skills. If a song writer lacks those skills, I try to impart them with the missing elements. From there we learn to build a song from the ground up.

About John

Hello, Thanks so much for taking the time to inquire about studying music with me. Music and studying music has always been a passionate experience for me. I have been so blessed with the teachers and fellow musicians in my life. You should realize that your study of music may start with me,

I bring to lessons an expansive education in music performance, theory, and composition in different styles, as well as the ability to explain and display the necessary skills in a variety of ways for a diversity of learning styles.

I teach an aggressive curriculum, but one that is tailored to each student's individual strengths and weaknesses, and I always remain gentle and patient while guiding my students through the rewarding process of learning to create music.

I enjoy so much about my work, and here are just a few elements:

-Sharing my love for music with those eager to learn the art for themselves.

-The moments when the student finds expression the music, transcending the notes as they're written on the page.

-Seeing my students perform at their recitals, where they share everything they have learned.

-Meeting so many incredible people who are all connected by a love for music!

A lot gets accomplished in each lesson and Sarah has advanced steadily over time. She looks forward to her lesson each week. We would recommend Sean to anyone looking for a piano teacher for their child.

Just unfortunate covid 19 came and disrupted my in-home teachings.....I'd recommend him to anybody looking for an good instructor.

"I've been learning songwriting and music theory from David and it couldn't be any better. He's very professional and personable, and he makes sure to work with you, not above you. He shows a genuine enthusiasm for his students' musical interests and formulates instruction around them. David encourages questions, which creates a comfortable and effective teacher-student interaction. Between my weekly lessons, I find myself impatiently counting down the days until my next scheduled lesson. While the genre of songwriting that I've been working on with David's guidance has been contemporary Christian, I'm sure that he would be an effective teacher in any genre, whether the student were writing songs or playing them."

"I was looking for a teacher who could help me hone in on my songwriting skills, and was so excited when I found Brittany! Not only was she able to help me improve my songwriting, but she helped with my singing in my lessons too! She is definitely the perfect teacher if you are looking to work on both. She also taught me how to use the Nashville Numbers System to chart my songs and be able to communicate well with my band. I take lessons in Brittany's home, which is in a great location and is really nice. I feel very safe there (her complex is gated) and always love going to see her!"

What is refreshing about working with him is he is open to so many forms of music. As he states it, " music is music". it provides a fresh approach. I am very pleased with this expanded viewpoint."

10 Proven Steps For Writing Lyrics That Stick

The late Amy Winehouse tribute album Lioness: Hidden Treasures has been making waves on the UK music charts, securing the #1 spot just days after its release.  Although the posthumous album has had its share of drama and questionable reviews, the collection - with its mix of covers and raw, unfinished tunes polished up by the producers - seems fitting in depicting Amy as the troubled, tattered star that she was. As she sings at the start of "Best Friends, Right?": "I can't wait to get away f …
