Shannon is an active musician, who has been featured as a soloist, and in the flute and woodwind sections with various orchestras, chamber ensembles, opera orchestras and musical theatre within the United States, Italy, and Mexico. She is presently Principal Flute of the Baytown Symphony, Director of the Da Capo Chamber Ensembles, and is a substitute musician with the Orquesta Sinfnica de Monterrey, Symphony of Southeast Texas, and Opera in the He
ights.

Shannon has been a faculty member at various colleges, is currently Adjunct Professor of Music at Brazosport College, and also has an active private studio, Leigh Studios. She is the College Music Society South-Central Regional President; and is an Advisory Board member for the Houston Flute Club.

Shannon received her Masters of Music degree in Performance from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She also studied at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and received her B.A. degree in Performance, and B.S. degree in Music-Business from Winona State University, and has studied with world-renowned instructors.

Shannon has received grants for her work, from the Minnesota State Arts Board, American Federation of Musicians, Rome Festival Orchestra, and the Winona Music Guild, and was the 1997 recipient of the Vivian Menees Nelson Music Award.

Shannon is also a sponsored triathlete and trainer/coach/race director, and gives workshops on the importance of healthy living, nutrition and exercise for musicians. She is a board member for The Lake Charles Triathletes. And she is a strong advocate for music, health, and triathlon. I am pretty easy going. I want you to feel comfortable and at ease, but we do need to focus and can have fun doing it. :)
I utilize various methods for each instrument, which is determined by the students learning style and ability; needs, so this can change as time goes on (not sticking to one particular publishers materials). I have done (and continue to do) extensive research into materials available for each instrument I teach, and supplement with my own, to utilize the best out there for "YOU" for the best possible progress. While ensuring an extremely well-rounded musical education, so you can progress at the best possible rate. Since each student's potential is different, each will progress differently. This is also determined by your dedication to daily practice (the more you practice, the quicker you will progress & the more accomplished you will become). This is a 'Team Effort'; I give the guidance and tools. You practice, utilize learn these tools, and off we go! The sky is the limit!

I started with Patty's classes in 2001. I was 51 years old and getting pretty beat up by Menopause
and Endometriosis in particular. I was a Jogger for many years but needed to add a good class with
weights and high and low impact exercise to really get into good shape. My best friend recommended
Patty's Classes and rest as they say is History.

Everyone knows that Exercise is critical to good health and if you have any chronic conditions is it
especially important !! Patty's training sessions are the best I have ever gone to - in addition to the exercises, the knowledge
she has imparted to all of us has been just as rewarding. I schedule everything "around" my training.
because I never want to miss and the older I get the more critical it is for me !

It is not an exaggeration by any stretch of the imagination when I say that her training session have saved my life
because it is literally true. I had a serious illness a few years ago that took such a physical toll that there
is no way I could have survived it had I not been in the best physical shape of my life and that was at age 60 !
Oh and her Boot Camp class is the best ever - hands down.

When I began to train with Patty I was a vending machine addict. Patty helped me kick my habit! I would buy 4 pops a day @ $1.25. This added up to $100 a month. I would also buy other vending machine items, totaling up to an additional $40.00 a month.
My work junk food vending machine habit ran me $140.00 a month...which pays for over half of what I spend in training with Patty! When people tell me I must be rich to have a trainer, I tell them "I just stopped eating and drinking crap and it pays for my sessions"...people don't realize how much they spend on junk food....hope this helps someone else! What makes the Skype workout so convenient is, that I can literally get up, go to the living room and start my workout. I do not have to leave my home and that makes it so much easier to continue on with exercise. It is the perfect amount of working out. I have been taking Liam's Tai Chi/ Qi Gong class for nearly two years now. He is a dynamic teacher that is sensitive to different types of learning paces and styles (both eastern and western) and employs both in his classes. His explanations are simple and he always relates the movement back to its origin as a martial arts defense/offensive move which helps one establish the intention behind the movement. I have learned yang short form and chen style short form from him. I would highly recommend that you take his class if you are interested in beginning or continuing a tai chi practice. Through my practice I have found a healthy way to manage stress and anxiety.

To begin with let me say I am a martial arts instructor. I'm not a Yoga person, music teacher, actor or some other part timer and all of my reviews are from actual students who have taken classes with me in the martial arts and in various disciplines.

There are ongoing classes at the Kenosha Moose Lodge (Yang 24, Yang 32 Sword, TCBP, TCK,TCO, TCR, TCA Part 2 and Seated, TCE) and a Saturday morning TCA class at the Kenosha Senior Cente. Master instructor Ron Pfeiffer has also been teaching Taiji Zen and the 13 Essential Forms for several years now and believes in the Beauty and Depth of this particularly powerful Tai Chi Chuan set developed by Jet Li in China.

Ron's journey into Health Fitness began in 1978 with various martial arts. In 2014, he was honored to be recognized through the International Sungjado Association for his over 35 years with a Doctor of Philosophy in Martial Science Degree.

I’ve been training with Master Ron for several months. As a 60 year old physician I’ve had many professors and mentors who have shaped my life. Ron has a spot right up there with the best of them. Great instructors are not just great communicators - it’s a given that they can explain what you need to know. What makes Ron different is he is a great listener - even better he listens with not just his ears but his eyes and his gut. He can tell when you are struggling even if you don’t realize it and gently guides you past it. He rejoices in your victories no matter how small and encourages you in your battles with certain moves. Although he is very gifted he is very humble. He is very Zen. He believes in living in the moment with what you are capable of now but always wants you to strive to improve. If you are looking for an instructor you can’t do better than Master Ron.

My experience with Ron Pfeiffer has been that he is an excellent teacher. I started in Beginner's Class at U.W. Parkside learning Tai Chi for Beginners' and later Tai Chi for Energy. He is friendly and yet detailed in his approach. He works with each student & improves their for forms. He has more Teaching Certificates than anyone I know and yet always goes back to the basics. I have earned two Teaching Certificates : Tai Chi for Energy and Tai Chi for Diabetes. I've worked to improve Yang 24 Form by attending classes in Burlington, WI. I talk classes weekly with Mr. Pfeiffer at the Moose Lodge & Senior Center in Kenosha, WI. I he is not available, classes go on with other Senior Students from his dojo in Burlington, WI. He is a teacher with a wealth of knowledge and I would recommend him to friends and family of all ages.

One of my clients was moving and traveling around quite a bit, and he wanted help getting a solid workout regimen that was safe for his shoulder injury. PLUS he wanted to learn how to speak Chinese Mandarin through our workouts! Needless to say, this has been quite the fun and challenging mission for BOTH of us – he has improved significantly in endurance, body mass composition, and his new language skills – all while keeping his shoulder safe.

My favorite exercise is…
The vinyasa series in yoga (plank, chaturanga, upward-facing dog, downward-facing dog): it is so good for the entire body in terms of building strength, stamina and flexibility! I always try to include at least a few of these in each workout (maybe as part of the dynamic warm-up of a bootcamp class, and definitely as part of my yoga flows). It helps mobilize the spine, warm up the shoulders and hamstrings, activate the core, and center your focus.

I played at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater from 2004-2007. While there I played libero for one year and was a setter for the other three years. I was named All-Conference in 2006 and 2007 and I was named 2nd team All-American in 2007. My team won the Division III National Championship in 2005, we took 3rd place in 2006 and were runner's up in 2007. I continue to play in adult leagues and tournaments around the Madison area.

A typical session with me is 60 minutes long. I work with the athletes to perfect their fundamental volleyball skills. High quality repetitions, goal setting and intensive skill breakdown are incorporated into each lesson. I give my athletes simple tasks to focus on which they can integrate into their high school or club practices after they leave the lesson. I also utilize videography to analyze the athletes
movement patterns and give visual feedback to help them develop their skills more quickly. If requested I will add in agility and plyometric training as necessary.
