As we took a childbirth class from Christelle, you might say we took one of the most important classes in our lives from her! We honestly believe if we had not taken her class we would not have had nearly so positive an experience in natural childbirth, so much credit is due to her. Christelle prepared thoroughly for all our lessons, included interesting activities and personal anecdotes. Most importantly, Christelle made it clear that she cared not only about our grasp of the content but also about us as people. That made all the difference.

Christelle is very knowledgeable and personal at the same time. I like how she can draw a lot from her personal experience as well.

I've been teaching American Sign Language for 5 years, and signing myself for 18 years, and my students have gone on to develop a love for ASL, Deaf people, and Deaf culture. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to carry on a simple conversation in the language, and as time goes on you'll be able to feel totally at ease with Deaf people. I have great online tools you can use for free to practice between lessons, and I'm flexible with any other resources we use. I can't wait to meet you!

About Carla

I have been signing since 1998, spending every chance I can among my Deaf friends and immersing myself in the language as often as possible. I received my BA in Music with a certification to teach at Lubbock Christian University in 1998. Later I attended the Interpreter Certification program at Bur

Carla is like a friend you’ve had forever. She gears lessons to your level and interests and is patient with my senior brain that needs a lot of repetition. She is also happy to give me time to write down notes for later. Her constructive criticism about hand position, etc. is really helpful, and I know she is paying attention to me!

I am really excited about my ASL lessons with Carla. She was very congenial and easy to warm up to immediately. She is patient and gave me time to take notes which help me review later. Carl geared the lesson toward my level of experience and was happy for me to ask questions anytime. She gave me good pointers on my hand position. I think she will be an exceptional tutor!

I am a private tutor of Japanese for all ages, currently from age 7 to middle-age. I love to be a witness when my students suddenly "get" something new we've been working on for a while. Japanese is a fascinating, beautiful, and complicated language, and it's exciting to be a partner in my students' achievements and success!

I have a lot of experience teaching middle school and high school age students--including my own kids, whom I homeschool. My first visit to Japan was a semester study abroad in my senior year of high school, and I've lived there off and on since then. My students receive the benefit of my life experiences there, including preparation for the realities of daily life in Japan--from how to use the public transit, to what to do during a natural disaster.

Along with my on-the-ground experience working in Japan as a translator/interpreter in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment, I hold an M.A. in Japanese and N1 (highest level) certification on the Japanese ...

About Clare

After two years working as a translator/interpreter for local government in Kochi, Japan, I moved back to the US in 2016. Since then, I have been a private teacher of Japanese for all ages, currently from age 12 to mid-40s. I love to be a witness when my students suddenly "get" something new we've

As a non-traditional aged student, I was very intimidated by the Japanese language at the start of my lessons. Clare's patient and understanding instruction has been of immense help in my otherwise self-directed studies, and I'd highly recommend other adult learners take classes with her!

My name is Beatrice and I come from Northern Italy. I have a bachelor's degree in interpreting and translation (English-Spanish) and a master's degree in journalism and PR. I've studied languages my all life, and have more than five years of teaching experience to all levels and backgrounds. I know and understand the challenges of learning and mastering a foreign language, as I've been (and in a way still are) an English student myself. I love tutoring and create unique experiences for each one of my students.

Students want or need to learn Italian for different reasons therefore I approach each topic thoughtfully and adapt each lesson in base of my students’ skills and goals. Whether you want to begin studying Italian, or just have conversation lesson to maintain what you already know, contact me and we will build your tailored course together.

A presto!

About Beatrice

I was born in Italy in a bilingual family. I grew up speaking Italian and Spanish, I then start learning English and German in school. Learning a language is difficult work. It requires patience, a sincere desire and a willingness to make mistakes without being discouraged. But most of all, learning a new language needs a great teacher. And that’s what I found in Beatrice. What made me chose her at first was that Italian is her mother tongue. What made me keep her as my instructor is her teaching style. She tailored the lessons to my needs, which where more conversational in my case. She has a keen ability to identify my strengths and use them to bolster my confidence while helping me work on my weakness (which she refers to as challenges) but not focusing on them to the point where I lose interest. She made it fun and informative beyond the grammar and pronunciation. Being Italian she added a cultural context and stories that I found amusing. Beatrice made learning Italian something we both can be proud of.

15 French Idioms & Funny Phrases (+ What They Really Mean)

Just like in English, there are a lot of French idioms and phrases that don't quite translate. Some are fairly easy to figure out (for example, someone who "drinks like a hole," is drinking a great deal). Others are less obvious, especially when you are just starting to learn French. Here are some of the strangest French idioms and phrases you're likely to come across in an otherwise normal conversation. 15 French Idioms & Funny Phrases 1.
