Dr. Desmond was a really great instructor! He was very kind and patient with me, he was able to teach me at ability level. He encouraged me to believe in myself and to practice in order to become a better player. He made me feel comfortable and and gave be positive reinforcements when I was doing well as well as positive constructive criticism when I was slacking. I look forward to continuing my courses with Dr. Desmond, I would recommend him to any one interested in learning how to play any instrument.

Had a really good lesson. Dr. Desmond helped me with my technique (which definitely needs work). Had instant impact on the quality of sound I was producing. I would call it an eye-opening experience

IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU WANT - I can help you pinpoint what is keeping you from being the type of player you want to be, and I will help you improve by learning techniques through song.

IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU WANT - I can help you develop basic guitar fundamentals, a motivation to want to learn more about guitar, and to figure out what style(s) interests you most.

I teach you to play the music you are passionate about, the way you want to play it. No intimidation, no pressure, just a friendly supportive environment for building your skills, musical sense, and ear. I have been teaching for over 20 years, and teach all levels from complete beginners to very advanced players. Adult beginners of all ages are welcome!

The styles I teach include fingerstyle, folk, blues, and country. I also teach some special guitar skills, including slide, lap steel, and harp guitar. I have a particular interest in helping you learn the most ergonomic methods, to ensure that you can play with the least muscular strain possible.

About David

I've been teaching guitar for over 25 years, to students at every level from total beginners to very accomplished players who want to break through obstacles that are keeping them on a "plateau." I especially welcome adult beginners! My aim is always to enable you to achieve your own musical goals, so lessons are customized to each student. No pressure, no intimidation - just friendly coaching that moves you ahead quickly and steadily. I can teach most any style, but have special expertise in fingerstyle, slide, and (for the adventurous) harp guitar.

I personally have not had a guitar lesson from Jameson, I'm a drummer myself, but I wanted to say what I know. I've seen this fella play many, many times, and I know those that taught him when he was younger. He is an excellent guitar player and a super good dude. He comes from a long line of musicians and educators in his family. I'm certain he would be an excellent choice as someone from whom to take lessons.

Ideally, you want your basic guitar chords to sound clean and crisp – no muffled strings. Keep practicing the individual chord …
