Hire Concetta, especially to support a beginning violin player! She is warm, professional and very adept at finding your child's musical strengths and then identifying material to help them access and enjoy the music and instrument. AKA GOOD TIMES for all and excited to continue...as it should be. Thank you Concetta for your expertise and flexibility with schedule. Keri-Ann

Private Cello Teacher

In my lessons, my primary focus is helping students learn cello at their own pace, and developing their love and appreciation for music! Cello can be challenging, but anyone can learn with the right guidance! I have a conservatory training, and years of experience teaching people of all ages how to play. Students will learn technique, music reading, scales and arpeggios, and basic music theory in a comfortable and encouraging environment!

About Nick

I am a multi-instrumentalist from Queens, NYC, and I was the cellist/guitarist for the first national tour of the hit broadway show "Waitress".

I trained as a classical cellist at the Aaron Copland School of Music, and I am a lifelong guitarist. Before starting my broadway career, I worked as a freelance cellist, playing with numerous orchestras around NYC, in addition to teaching many students in the Queens/Nassau County area.

I also performed in a 30 city national tour the with the Post-Rock band "You Bred Raptors?". As a guitarist, I was sitting in with a professional band by the time I was just 14, and would later to go to play many clubs around NYC, such as the Bitter End and Bowery Electric, with my own projects.

Since the 'Waitress' tour, I have been freelancing in NYC as a professional musician and teaching musi

c at the Larchmont Music Academy in Westchester.

Nick is really the best instructor ever! He is very knowledgeable about different styles and techniques, but he tailors each lesson so that the student is learning on their own terms - not pushing a methodology or using cookie cutter plans. He is very patient and kind and will work with you at your own pace, whether you are a beginner or want to learn on a more professional level. He plays a ton of different instruments and has experience touring with bands as well as classical training. He's really a one-stop-shop for all your musical needs! Hire him! He's made my life a lot better by teaching me his ways.

If you are in school and are looking to get into all state and need help with school orchestra, or if you are an adult learner and just want to learn how to play, you are at the right place. I am a firm believer of having a good setup and I am excited to share it with you the secret to having good posture, having no soreness when you play, and how to have a good bow hand..etc. If you need help learning how to practice efficiently-that means practicing less but with greater outcome, you can also come to me. Playing the cello should be enjoyable and with the right method that I can provide for you, You will be able to improve tremendously.

About Chialing

I offer piano and cello lessons for all levels and ages in both English or Chinese. My teaching philosophy is to help students set up a good foundation and practice routine. My lessons are engaging and tailored to individual's needs.
I am also an experienced online teacher. Online music lessons offer the opportunity for students who do not live around a suitable teacher to take lessons and improve their musical skills. It also gives students convenience and it saves time commuting to teachers. It works the same way as an in person lesson except the teacher is on the screen. It is a good option if you do not have a suitable teacher nearby.
My method is a mix of suzuki books along with right hand and left hand exercise that I have accumulated over the years of teaching. I will give you a consultation on your first lesson to se

e what kind of material you need-that includes music theory and ear training if necessary. (you need someone to teach you how to read music right?) I will also make recommendation on your instrument and where to rent or buy them.

I hope this is helpful. Shoot me a message if you have any questions!

I have experience teaching in a variety of settings level students. I am currently teaching students as a private teacher and I helped some of my students’ audition for San Diego youth symphony and school orchestra assignments. I also have experience not only teaching young musicians in a small group system also performing and playing as a cellist of chamber ensembles and orchestra.
As a music teacher, it is my goal that I want to give back the rich knowledge that I have received during my studies. I want to use my education and knowledge gained from SDSU to help students obtain a proper and valuable education. I desire to see young musicians refine and expand their passions and talents in music and use them to touch the lives of others.

As a violist and string enthusiast, my appreciation and knowledge of the cello runs fairly deep. I had studied and taught myself how to play the cello with the guidance of a professional cellist some many years ago, but I've always been eager to teach the cello to any willing student with a deep appreciation. Students can expect a curriculum catered to their needs and desires, whether they be to on the road to a professional musician or just the hobbyist and a teacher who is dedicated to their educational growth and desires.

About Ashley

I am currently a junior at Ramapo College studying music education but I am no foreigner to teaching. I have been teaching for some years now with general ages ranging between 3 to 25, in the violin, viola and cello. I have also taught music theory from a beginner's standpoint to a college sophomore level in conjunction with teaching said instruments. I have a passion for teaching that I love to give my students the passion of learning as teaching is not only fun, but also one of the most rewarding experiences in life as is having the guidance and educational support of a good teacher. Students can expect my 110% effort and know they can depend on me for consistency, accuracy and personalized lesson plans based on the level and goals they want to achieve. I aim to foster a supportive learning environment for my students in their hom

es or practice space of their choice as the main root of discontinuity in studies is the lack of support and passion. Feel free to contact me at anytime should any questions arise and remember, music is about having fun, so let's have fun!

Ashley was very helpful to me. I was floundering. I am a brand new 'musician', still learning to read music. I would still be working with her, but I had to move suddenly. She was very encouraging and I hope to be able to continue lessons again with someone in my new location.

I really enjoyed my 1st lesson with Ashley. She gave me hope that I’m not a basket case. I feel encouraged that I might someday play well enough not to send people running for earplugs or exits.

Joshua
"Makala hit it off with our third-grader right off the bat, and she was a great sport about meeting the whole family at the first lesson. She put Josh at
ease, evaluated what he already knew without making him uncomfortable, and got right to work improving his fundamentals in a way that seemed to get him really motivated. We're extending our series - thanks Makala!"

"My daughter (12 yo) really loves her lessons with Jessica. We're been impressed with her -- she makes the lessons fun and instructive. Thanks!"
Dawn
"The most attentive and knowledgeable music teacher I have ever had. Very aware of student improvements and yet able to make suggestions where they are ne
eded, without any kind of harsh criticism.

John provides all the information - both theory and performance in a very laid back way which leaves the student feeling stress free. He is very realistic as to the expectations of what the student's abilities are now and when "tentatively" they can expect to achieve a level of playing.

He does his job. It is up to me to do mine! Having fun and learning in a very short time. Not easy - but practice, practice, practice."

"I really enjoyed my lessons with Peter, he was professional and kind as I took on a new adventure in learning cello and reading music as and adult. Skype
was a wonderful option since I couldn't find any local instructors. There was a delay in sound at times so we would accidentally talk over eachother or I didn't know what was being asked to play, but we worked it out ans overall I would say it's worth it and would recommend Peter."

"I felt so awkward as a beginning student at 51 y/o but Nicolas is great. I cant wait for my next lesson!"

Is Cello Hard to Learn? Read THIS Before Taking Lessons

By Jessica Dais

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
