The materials I use for my flute lessons usually consists of embouchure exercises, finger exercises, tonguing exercises, and scales, in addition to following the Rubank book series of flute instruction. This well rounded practice regime, if practiced regularly, makes for quick and thorough improvement!
Kathleen Little, after playing the flute and piano on her own for seven years, began her classical education at the age of sixteen with international soloist Jun Kubo. Only a year and a half after Ms. Little began her studies with Jun Kubo, she was accepted into The College of New Jersey for a Bachelors program in Music Performance where she studied with David DiGiacobbe. While at TCNJ, Kathleen performed her own programs in Mayo Concert Hall, featuring soloistic works by composers such as Nielsen, Hoover, and Takemitsu, and was complimented for her stage presence and musicality. She also had the pleasure of performing with the TCNJ Opera, Chamber, and Symphony Orchestras. She went on to perform with the NYU Symphony Orchestra and participate in the NYU Chamber Music program where she has played with a Trio, Quintet, Sextet, and flute ens
emble. Kathleen Little has participated in masterclasses with performers such as Trevor Wye, Min Park, Gary Shocker and Bradley Garner. Ms. Little currently runs a teaching studio in NJ where she teaches music theory, woodwinds, voice, and piano, and has taught at Calderone School of Music for 4 years. She is currently Principle Flute of the Bloomfield Symphony Orchestra. She has obtained her Bachelors from The College of New Jersey in music performance, and her Master of Music degree from NYU, where she studied with Bradley Garner.
I teach beginner to advanced flute to all ages of students. Younger students should be able to hold the instrument in order to start on flute--curved head flutes are an option for smaller beginners.

Becky was a phenomenal instructor! She has a genuine enthusiasm for teaching and music is obviously a large part of her life. She provides great analogies to help her students grasp concepts. And she inquired about my goals and was a great resource for pursuing them. I had to suspend my lessons because life got a little too busy, but if I find the time again, I'd definitely look to return to her for instruction.
Howdy! My name is Ryan and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons for ten years and have loved helping my students receive exceptional tone, fluidity, and control of their instrument. I look forward to helping you reach your goals! I received my knowledge from Berklee College of Music where I received a B.A. in Performance and Music Education. My teaching style is simple, straightforward, and fun.
I was very impressed with how Ryan engaged my son during his first lesson. He was able to make it fun and educational for him. I think what made a huge difference was his ability to hone in on what what kinds on music my son was interested in and some how work it in to the initial lesson plan. He showed him how much fun it could be and then was able to incorporate the basics from there. Also, he is extremely patient and laid back making it stress free. Thank you for a great lesson! We look forward to continuing more.

We scheduled Ryan to come to our house at a specific time to teach our 15 YO son. He did not show up and called 2 hours after the scheduled time to say he was misinformed by Take Lessons as to the time (even though we had confirmed the time at the beginning). We planned to resume the following week and again he did not show up. He did not reply to texts, his voicemail was not set up on his phone and he made no efforts to let us know that he had cancelled with us.

I believe in inspiring lifelong lessons that help students achieve self-discipline,
creativity, professionalism and assist them in accomplishing their goals.
James is an amazing teacher! He is extremely patient and thorough. In addition to helping you with your playing, he helps you with theory as well. I learned more from him in one year than my past teacher in three. Because of him, I was able to get into my top choice school for music with a large scholarship.

"My daughter just completed 5 lessons with Wilma. She's wonderful! She took the time to determine my daughter's ability and went from there. She has a gent
le but firm nature which worked well for us. Also, her studio is super clean! I would definitely recommend Wilma!"
"She is helping me so much......."

"Peter is showing me how to practice to play jazz flute. I am very happy with his lessons and will keep it up."
"Terrific first lesson. Almost immediate improvement in tone thanks to a few simple, easy to remember cues. Stretching exercises and body stance were emph
asized as a foundation to build for quality sound as well as care to prevent injury. I almost can't wait for my next lesson."
"Kelley is a wonderful teacher, that has helped my 8 year old daughter Ellen to learn to play her first notes on the flute. Ellen really enjoys her lessons
"I found Kelly to be a total professional in teaching. Prompt, educated and well versed in the principals of the flute. She also was competent in the com
position I had requested insight on, the Poulenc Sonata for flute, which is not an easy piece to play. If you are intermediate to early advanced you will not go wrong or left wanting. Highly recommend for beginner to early advanced level teaching."
