I have been playing violin since the age of 6. One day I had to make the difficult decision choosing between violin and piano, because both instruments are very dear to me. I chose violin as my primary instrument for its lyrical qualities and closeness to human voice. At the age of 13 I won the Saint Petersburg Violin Competition and performed with the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic.
I am excited to share my love for this instrument with my students no matter what age they are. I see each person as an individual who has their own artistic voice and I will help you to further develop it.
I have won Gartoff International Violin Competition, Freiburg International Violin Competition, Dalhousie Solo Competition, Halifax Rose Bowl, Roosevelt Violin Competition and most recently competed in Schoenfeld International String Competition in Harbin, China, where my quartet placed 3rd. Recently I performed the Brahms Violin Concerto in the Symphony Centre downtown Chicago with Roosevelt ...

My teaching philosophy is that music is for ALL ages and ALL abilities. I started working with Alyssa in person when she was teaching violin in Salt Lake City. Once she moved to Los Angeles I agreed to try the online lessons. I have found this method of learning to be very valuable. Alyssa has a unique way of teaching. While the traditional principles of violin playing are taught Alyssa includes mindfulness and breath in her methods. She also introduces improvisation and takes music beyond its notes on the page.
Maggie
Alyssa was very thorough and met my objectives.
Colin
Alyssa is a wonderful teacher and a professional player. Studying with her is efficient. She has a keen sense of detail, knowing what is most important to focus on for the next lesson. Her careful instruction reaches well beyond the violin as she teaches musicianship and ear-training. She'll prepare you for real-world playing at any experience level.

The violin showcases a player's talent more than any other instrument, some say. It's the hardest instrument of them all, others say. Whatever your goals, I am happy to play a role in your musical journey with this instrument. Follow a classical, traditional method of my own development that incorporates the most common repertoire sought after in festivals, auditions for orchestras, and auditions for colleges.

About Tasha

EDUCATION Began playing violin at the age of 11, in 5th grade with my school orchestra. Was quickly told to seek private instruction due to aptitude. Played at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp for 2 summers. Played at Interlochen Summer Camp for 2 summers, concertmaster in 2004. Played in the Symphony

Esther is the best piano instructor one can ever ask for. She is very patient and takes the time to make sure your child captures and understands everything. I would recommend Esther to anyone and everyone!
Diana
Ms. Esther is a great teacher! She was very patient and explained everything very clearly to me so that I could understand. I’ve had multiple piano teachers, but she was the first one that helped me really progress in playing piano and understand music theory. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a piano teacher.
Julie
Esther is passionate and knowledgeable about music and she does an incredible job of sharing that passion and knowledge with her students. She instructed my two young boys in a music class along with 6 other young students. She was always prepared and taught the class a variety of musical instruments and the history behind each of them. She instilled a love for music and instruments, into my boys. We were sad to have her move so far away but the knowledge she passed along to my boys, is priceless. We highly recommend Mrs. Esther!
