Mark is a talented musician and worked very well with my son to help improve and fine tune his viola performance just before he heads off to college. Emphasis was placed on technique and musicality. A great experience ! At one point Marked picked up his electric violin and played a beautiful duet with my son that was amazing!
Jacob
I came to Mark as a senior in high school. I had been playing in orchestras for 7 years up until this point and wanted to see if I could refine my technique before heading into college. Even in my limited time with him, Mark helped me fix most if not all of my bad habits and gave me valuable knowledge to continue learning on my own! He was very friendly throughout the whole experience and was flexible with my busy schedule.
Julia
Mark was an excellent teacher! I have never touched a violin before taking lessons with him and Mark, being a very patient and encouraging teacher, went through the basics and had me playing songs in just a few weeks! Mark made going to lessons fun and engaging and I enjoyed going to each and every lesson! If you are looking for fun lessons where you will learn a lot with a very talented, patient and encouraging teacher, then I highly recommend taking lessons with Mark!

For beginning students, we will start by learning the fundamentals of violin including: violin set up, left hand and right hand techniques, best posture, and becoming comfortable with playing the strings. Then we will advance to a beginning book, to learn the notes of the violin, playing fun songs, and gradually advancing to music reading.
For intermediate to advanced students, I will adjust the lessons according to the student's needs. We will discuss what you've already learned, what you would like to learn, and choose music of your liking. We will focus on best left hand practices, bowing techniques, intonation, vibrato, and music reading.

About Julie

It is important to have teacher, student, and parents work together to see the accomplishments happen in the future. I make the lessons meaningful, so that my student can retain the information and practice effectively at home. My ultimate goal is to have my student think critically and listen carefully, so that they can become their own teacher.

About Richard

I started playing the violin when I was 12 years old. After practicing the violin productively, I was able to join the Jr. Philharmonic Orchestra of CA. I played with the group for 5 years. I also joined other community orchestras such as: Bellflower Symphony, Los Angeles Valley College Symphony, M

Peter has exceeded my expectations, I look forward for my lesson every week. I honestly can say He is the best teacher I’ve ever had. I am a 44 yo violin beginner student who has had 5 teachers in the last 6 years, I didn’t learn much with them, this been said, with Peter in just 3 months I feel I have learned more than my other teachers. Peter is so, so patient and extremely professional. I am very pleased to have found such a wonderful teacher.

"Erin is a wonderful violin instructor. My 9-year-old completely changes her attitude about her violin when Erin calls for class. My daughter is one of those who wants to be really good at the violin, but not practice much. Erin is changing that. She is a joy to work with. We are back and forth to China during the year and Erin has been amazing to accommodate our class times to our 15-hour time change. We are blessed to have found Erin. I highly recommend her!"

"Patient, communicative and fun!

I played the violin years ago and decided to pick it back up again. Megan was very patient and was very communicative with how to help me. She also came up with very fun ways to keep me practicing. She worked very well with me as an adult but I've also seen her teach very young children and her patience and creative teaching shines with the young ones as well! If you're looking for a personable, fun teacher that inspires, Megan is the teacher for you."

Just For the Trill of It: 4 Cool Things to Try With the Violin

To the uneducated, the idea of playing the violin might not have the same mass appeal as, say, shredding on an electric guitar or rocking out on the drums. Some people might even think of classical orchestras as old-fashioned and stuffy.  But in reality, the violin is far from boring! With the emergence of styles like hip hop violin music, stringed instruments are getting their spotlight in mainstream music more than ever.  And as you continue your studies, you'll learn there are definitely …
