About Gabriel
I graduated with a BA in jazz studies from Columbia in 2007 and have been teaching since 2005. I have played in many different projects, covering many styles including Rock, Jazz, Latin, Hip hop, classical, orchestral, and country. So, I have a strong understanding on the specifics of each of these styles, and a big part of my lesson plan is to teach my students to be as versatile as possible. Hence they have many options as far as playing music. I also play a wide variety of instruments including Piano, Latin Percussion, Mallets, Drum set, Guitar, and bass, so if at any point a student has an interest in trying something different t they have many options.

Becky was a phenomenal instructor! She has a genuine enthusiasm for teaching and music is obviously a large part of her life. She provides great analogies to help her students grasp concepts. And she inquired about my goals and was a great resource for pursuing them. I had to suspend my lessons because life got a little too busy, but if I find the time again, I'd definitely look to return to her for instruction.

About Ryan
I am a professional music teacher and cellist who specializes in orchestral strings. I graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2017 with a Bachelor's Degree in K-12 Music Education.

I have a very wide range of musical interests, from classical to folk/fiddle music, Irish and Scottish music, pop, funk, rock, heavy metal, and many more. I hope to use my many interests to appeal to the varied musical interests of all of my students while continuing to teach important terms, traditions, and similar aspects of all music in our lessons.

As a cellist, I began as a Suzuki Strings student under Charlene Melzer in my hometown of Racine, WI, and continued my musical training within the Suzuki tradition. I studied privately with Martha Veto in Racine for seven years before attending Illinois Wesleyan University, where I studied under Dr. Nin
a Gordon.

In 2011 I won the Racine Young Artists Competition and performed solo with the Racine Symphony. I received Honorable Mention in the Milwaukee Symphony Young Artist Auditions in 2012 and 2013. At Illinois Wesleyan, I won the 2016-17 Henry Charles Memorial Concerto-Aria Competition, and performed Tchaikovsky's "Pezzo Capriccioso" with the Illinois Wesleyan Symphony Orchestra. I love to continue working on my own craft so that I can always be the best possible musical model for my students.

I believe that all people of all ages, backgrounds, and identities are capable of making quality music. My goal is to help each student find his or her musical identity and use it to create meaningful, lifelong experiences for all people!

I have a bachelor's degree in violin performance from Miami University (in Ohio) and am currently pursuing a master's degree in violin pedagogy at UWM.

I believe that learning music should be a positive experience, and that learning to play an instrument greatly enhances the quality of one’s life. While teaching you or your child how to play the violin, I will also incorporate musicianship skills such as music theory, technique, ear training, and sight-reading. Above all, I will always maintain a positive learning environment. I will be using a combination of Suzuki method techniques and other methods (such as Mimi Zweig and Paul Rolland principles) and repertoire. Silver is such a caring and conscientious instructor! They are able to adapt and pull from many methodologies in order to meet the needs of the students. I felt like the instruction was tailor made for my child. What I liked most was Silver's focus on only one skill at a time and constant use of positive remarks to motivate my daughter. In addition, Silver challenged her to practice regularly. It continues to be a fantastic experience for our family.

About Natalie
Hello!

I work full-time as a school psychologist, and love playing piano in my free-time to de-stress. I am someone who believes in the importance of technique and theory, but sees the enjoyment and therapeutic nature of learning to play an instrument and making music as the most important part of all.

I have played the piano since I was 7 years old, and growing up I participated in piano competitions, accompanied for choirs/soloists, was employed as a church pianist, and played at several weddings. I am experienced in playing various kinds of music, such as contemporary, classical, and jazz.

I am willing to work with all ages, but would particularly work well with school-aged children and children with special needs due to my years of experience working with those populations. I am very easygoing, patient, fun, and am determined
to have others experience the same feeling of "flying" that I have when being able to play the piano with ease.

I look forward to working with you!

About Sophia
I am a professional opera coach and have subbed as a coach at the Kansas City Lyric Opera House. I have my Master's in Vocal Performance from the Conservatory at UMKC, and my Bachelor's of Music from Luther College. I have performed under the baton of Maestro Lorin Maazel and sung on stage with The Rolling Stones and Barry Manilow in addition to serving on faculty at summer opera programs after my fellowship as an opera coach at Aspen Opera Theatre.

Voice students can expect to improve their tone from week to week by learning healthy vocal technique. I have taught all ages and skill levels, and specialize in teaching younger children to sing in a vocally healthy way. Students learn about releasing tension, good breath support, placement, head/chest voice and mix, as well as solfege and ear training.

I have also been playing pi
ano for over 20 years and did competitive piano as a child, and won statewide and midwest regional competitions. Because of my piano background, I can record helpful tracks for each student, such as warm up tracks, as well as practice tracks.

My passion is teaching kids to sing in a vocally healthy way by building on basic foundational techniques such as good posture, good breath support, ear training and release of tension. As a child, I was told often that singers were born, not taught, and I am here to tell you that I learned how to sing well during my college and grad school years, and was not a "born" singer! I learned so much about healthy singing in school that I wish I had known when I was younger, so my personal goal is to install good vocally healthy habits in all of my students.

While at the Kansas City School of Music, my girls, ages 7 and 10, received piano and vocal lessons from Miss Sophia. Sophia is a wonderfully talented musician and pianist with very effective teaching methods. She is very patient with her students and always provides a positive nurturing learning environment. She was able to tailor each lesson to fit each of my girls needs, which I appreciate. I highly recommend Sophia to anyone looking to receive top notch instruction.

Mrs. Zey is incredibly knowledgeable in voice and piano as well as in teaching them. She's familiar with a wide variety of vocal styles and techniques and will find one that works for you, as well as be kind and patient while teaching it. Five stars; a round of applause; and a standing ovation. She knows what she's talking about and is the best at what she does.

I'm originally from Los angels California, I grew up outside of Hollywood and started off just like all of us being a fan first. I've played guitar , bass and drums in numerous bands of different genres primarily rock, metal, country and blues based. I soon after became a guitar tech (since I worked on all my own instruments anyways) and began giving lessons very soon after. I strongly believe going outside of one's comfort zone musically as a great way to open new doors and pathways not normally seen.
With teaching of any musical instrument, circumstances can easily force the teacher and student to frequently go outside of their own comfort zone. For me personally this helps so much with viewing things from different perspectives and with connecting with principals or methods. And developing a visual and cognitive understanding
of the instrument. I throughly enjoy teaching and passing down my acquired skills and information to anyone willing to learn. For the preservation of generations to come.
