I have been teaching trombone for several years, and performing professionally for over 10 years. We will work on sound, technique, and musicality. All ages accepted.
After graduating from the University of Kentucky with a degree in music, I moved to New York where I lived for 11 years. I have been a professional multi-instrumentalist since then and a member of many bands including Beirut and Arcade Fire. I have performed in dozens of countries, at some of the world's biggest festivals (Bonnaroo, Coachella, Glastonbury), and on many television shows (Colbert, Letterman, Fallon).

I like to teach in a style that is functional and interesting. Students will be doing a variety of activities at each lesson. The focus will be determined by their needs.

Kay is awesome. My daughter loved her. She is very patience and kept Victoria engaged.

Kay is very knowledgeable, kind and accommodating. She is very encouraging and never makes me feel dumb when I hit a sour note. (As a beginning beginner, that happens a lot!) I am amazed at how much I have learned in such a short time!
Trombone is my primary focus. I have been playing for 15+ years and have spent my life figuring out how to teach myself to play it better every day.

I am former music major and long time amateur trombonist and was looking for someone to help bring my playing (back) up to the next level. Bill has been amazing at being able to spot areas for improvement and clearly provide several suggestions and approaches to correct them. Very pleased and highly recommend!

Bill is a stand-up guy. My 11-yr-old beginner daughter is happy with her lessons so far and he interacts with me in a friendly and polite manner. He is respectful of our time and does what he says he's going to do. Can't ask for much more. We are looking forward to a summer of trombone lessons with him.
I am a classically trained trombone player with experience playing jazz and pop styles. I can work with you to take your musicality to the next level regardless of your current abilities.

Jonathan is a great teacher! I had my very first violin lesson with him, and he made me feel like I can actually learn how to play this instrument.
My passion is teaching the trombone. I have started beginners, taught middle, high school, and university students. As a member of a professional orchestra for many years, I have experience performing many different styles of music and love to share my enthusiasm for the trombone with others. Lessons are rooted in a firm foundation of technique, focusing on efficient sound production and ease of playing. I love helping students reach their potential!
I am a professional trombonist and pianist and have three degrees from the University of Michigan, including a D.M.A. in Trombone Performance. I have taught piano since I was 16 and have accompanied singers and instrumentalists in concerts. For many years, I was a trombonist in the Sarasota Orchestra and previously was Assistant Professor of Trombone at Miami University.
I have started many students on trombone and tuba, as well as piano. Students will find me to be encouraging, yet demanding. I cater to different learning styles and strive to learn how each student learns best.
Professional trombonist working in the NYC area. Experienced in teaching all styles of music to all ages and levels.
I have also taught many older students that want to rediscover their passion for music.
Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. Instead of simply training students to read music and play notes, I prefer to teach my students to think, play, and act like musicians.
My lessons feature improvisation skills, sight-reading, playing by ear, building a strong technical foundation and musical analysis. Lesson are also focused on staying engaged by playing new fun and challenging material. To me the most important thing is to have fun and to keep the passion we all have for music while gaining technical proficiency.
I assure you will see leaps of improvement by working with me!
I can’t wait to meet you!
I'm a professional trombonist with a strong musical background: I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Performance - Trombone from City College of New York and Im currently working on my masters at NYU. I have several years of experience teaching students of all ages and levels, and I have been working as a freelancer since I was 17.
I originally arrived in NYC from Argentina at 9-years old. The rich musical environment of NYC allowed me to study and absorb all styles of music at a young age.
I have had the opportunities to study with trombone masters such as Michael Dease, Jason Jackson, Alan Ferber, Ed Neumiester and Wycliffe Gordon. These learning experiences directly affect the development of my students.
I currently play in a wide range of musical situations all over NYC, from jazz combos and big bands, to musicals and c
lassical orchestras and even other genres such as Salsa, Reggea, Ska, Rock, Pop etc.
As my student, you will develop critical skills that will help build a strong musical foundation which will define you as a musician. I will evaluate the level in which you currently are and provide a clear defined path in order to reach our goals. One thing I strongly focus on is your love for music. My goal is not only to see you progress, but to nourish your love of music and have fun with what you are working on.
I can't wait to work with you and help you reach your goals!
He is a great teacher - calm, reasonable , knowledgable and encouraging
We have had one lesson with him, and look forward to our future lessons.

After a year away from playing the trombone, my son needed to get prepared to audition for the high school jazz band over the summer. Alejandro helped him get back up to speed and learn more about how what it means to be a jazz musician. Alejandro is able to connect and personalize lessons, and he is very flexible. My son made the jazz band, and is continuing work with Alejandro to help him advance.

And the beat goes on. Now at the year and a half mark and working to achieve the next level, Alejandro is skilled in encouraging me through periods of self-doubt that I'll ever be good enough. Very grateful to him.
Hi! I have a Bachelors in Music Education and have experience teaching many beginning students! I have 3 children and decided to give up regular teaching to be with them. I marched Drum and Bugle Corp and was taught a lot about Brass instruments during that time. I played a straight Baritone and Mellophone in different years. I believe that tone production is the most important area of study. It doesn’t matter what you can play if it doesn’t sound good. I can’t wait to help more students love to “play” on their instruments!
Hello! I started my love of music at a young age with my family playing and singing at family functions. That turned into a wanting to learn how to play the flute and I went up through high school with that instrument. After high school I branched out more into vocal performance. After that I joined a traveling performance group. No not the circus! I joined Drum and Bugle Corp. They taught be how to play the Baritone and I marched a straight Baritone. I then learned the Mellophone and marched that after. Since I had experience with Drum Corp Marching I taught over 10 different marching programs over many different years. I graduated from College with my Bachelors in Music Education and was a music director until I had my children and decided to give up regular teaching. After all of the years I spent honing my craft I decided t
o continue giving lessons. I have the most experience with Flute, but can teach many other instruments: flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone/euphonium, piano. I have worked with many different age groups and levels of ability. I am happy to help you learn to have fun and "play" your instrument!
Mrs. Bemus provides a calm nurturing approach to teaching. She saw potential in me, and helped inspire me to become a future educator myself.

Kim is a fantastic instructor! She is experienced, encouraging, and patient with students as they are learning. She helped me prepare for solo and ensemble, and supported me throughout the process. I highly recommend choosing Kim as your instructor.
"Great guy very smart very helpful excited to learn more!"
"Alexis is awesome. My son was really nervous, but she was extremely patient and made him feel great about playing. Wonderful teacher!!"
"I highly recommend Rachel as a teacher. With terrific musical instincts and a practical teaching strategy catered to the individual student, she is very e
ffective in her instruction. She's also a cool person!"
"Grant's ability to hear what each student's needs are makes him a great teacher for all levels of players. He likes to work hard while also having a good
time, which really resonates with students. We worked together for 2 years and his drive to constantly make the highest quality music really makes him stand out."
"My son, Evan had one of the best music lesson experiences he ever could have had after years of lessons with just a few lessons with Mr. G! The level of e
xpertise and instruction that can be delivered to your child in one lesson is truly second to none. Your child will see instant improvements in the quality of their performances if the skills and instruction Mr. G demonstrates and converses to your child is implemented. In just 4 lessons, my son went from an average trombone player to well enough to go on to a difficult state competition. He could not have achieved that success without the careful and guided instruction of Mr. G. He truly is an outstanding instructor and is worth is weight in gold!"
"Very friendly and talented! A great teacher with years and years of experience! Learned a ton! Thank you, Hayden!"
"A great instructor; his style is beneficial. He presents a variety of practice and preparation techniques to improve overall music ability and instrument
playing; particularly, trombone. I got into one of the All-State bands for two consecutive years ever since I began his teachings. I was accepted for the Jazz and Pops band at my school as well."
"Great first lesson for my son! Thanks Jordan."
"Alba immediately honed in on exactly the kind of student I am and taught me the basics. Looking forward to more lessons! I was a little unsure of doing le
ssons over Skype, but it turned out to be perfect."
