During lessons, students will learn every aspect of guitar. Beginners will learn how to tune using multiple methods, string your guitar, reading guitar notation and tablatures. In-studio students can use acoustic/electric guitar and amp if needed.
Nicole began her musical journey in Long Island, New York when she began piano lessons at age five. While receiving training on piano, she joined her elementary school orchestra in the 3rd grade and quickly soared with violin. During this period, Nicole began learning music theory and the art of reading music. As a fourth grader, Nicole would go on to conduct and tune every instrument in her orchestra during rehearsal. She always competed and won many NYSMA competitions for violin while attending music seminars and workshops. It was then that her teacher realized she had a gift. Nicole continued with piano lessons and began teaching herself guitar. Later, after college, she bought herself a drum set and began to teach herself drums. As an adult, Nicole studied to become an elementary teacher and worked in the New York State Sch
ool Districts for over five years. Shortly after receiving her master's degree for Literacy Education, Nicole decided to attempt to share her passion for music. In 2007, Nicole opened a music studio in Holbrook, New York. Here, she refined her music teaching skills while establishing Nicolex Inc. Music Island as a leading source of quality music education. Her summer traveling music program allowed her students to experience live performances as well as create music groups with peers with the same passion for music. Nicole now resides in Tampa, Florida with hopes to spread her business as well as the joy of music to children and adults. She currently is the drummer for a local original Soul/Rock band. Needless to say, she understands the importance that music has had in her life and wishes to ignite that passion in other music lovers.
*** Lesson Details *** My teaching style is best labeled as kind but firm. I take my job very seriously and want wholeheartedly for my students to have music as a part of their life, not just a part of their day. I love to laugh and have fun but I will definitely expect my students to practice and complete any homework I assign and be prepared for the following lesson. Simply stated, music is fun and the love of my life, but if I still practice, you will as well. Otherwise, I always believe in teaching songs my students are interested in and will expand their musical skills. My experience as a public school teacher had enhanced my sense of finding individual needs of every student. Therefore, I always differentiate lessons to suit my students interest while teaching them the foundations every musician needs in order to be successful. My specialty is teaching a variety of instruments. I play drums, guitar, bass, piano, and sing as well. So, if one instrument is not for you, I can teach you something different without a problem. Long story short, friends, you are in good hands.

I've been playing guitar since I was 10, and teaching since 18. From beginner to advanced, I'll work with you on technique, theory, reading tab & notes, playing songs, etc. I write my own lessons and work with my students on songs that they are inspired by.
I love to create. The way I'm most comfortable creating is through writing; whether it's a song, a short story, a poem or a script. Writing has always been the bass line in my life; the heartbeat.
Music and film are both passions of mine. I graduated from Berklee College of Music where I studied Songwriting and Music Therapy. I was pushed to my absolute limits lyrically and musically within these majors, and I am so grateful for it now that I'm on my own creative journey.
I have a great deal of experience, but I am also still learning. I think it is very important as a teacher to always be learning, especially through their students. Teaching these lessons is, of course, about progress and advancement - but also about enjoyment, confidence building and positive encouragement.
Experienced guitar teacher of 25 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of fundamental guitar skills. I specialize in rock, blues, and country, typically use study books, and also have sheet music available to use during lessons. You will learn simple and complex chords, lead guitar scales and melodies, music sight reading and music theory.
I have been teaching private lessons since 1990 and am currently available to teach lessons at your home, or in my studio. I have helped students learn chords to accompany themselves when singing, learn rock, blues, and country lead guitar, and read music. Together we can tailor a course that will help you achieve your personal musical goals.
I have been playing guitar since 1968. I have enjoyed my life making music and love sharing my knowledge. I look forward to helping new students achieve their goals. My teaching style is fun, casual, and challenging. Let's make this happen for you!
I have been playing guitar (self taught) for about 25 years, just not very well. I was looking for a teacher that could help me fill in the music theory gaps. As well as help me formulate a meaningful practice plan that will get me over my hump. I gotta say Scott has hit the nail on the head every lesson. He first listened.. and as a result has delivered an eye opening and inspiring lesson every time. I highly recommend Scott for guitarists of all levels. He knows his STUFF!! Better yet, he knows how pull what YOU need from what he knows and deliver it effectively.
I've been teaching beginning rock, folk, and pop guitar since 2008. I focus on building strong fundamentals and basic knowledge of music structure and theory so that my students may become competent, independent musicians capable of creating fulfilling musical experiences for themselves and in ensemble settings.
I'm a Berklee College of Music-trained multi-instrumentalist with years of teaching experience. I have experience performing, composing, and/or recording on the genres of classical, jazz, Latin, rock and pop music, and I have extensive knowledge of jazz and classical music theory. I take great pride and pleasure in helping my students realize their innate musical abilities and in providing the structure and knowledge to allow them to expand those abilities in whatever direction their passion dictates.
I teach every student the technical skills and applied theory necessary to work in any contemporary style on guitar. I use the "Be better than you have to be" approach. Want to be the best on a bad day? Be better than your chosen style requires. I studied classical and jazz in order to excel at rock, folk and blues. You will learn to read music and charts for guitar, as well as movable scale patterns, movable chord forms, and how to apply it all to master the fretboard. Have you hit a road block? I can help. Are you brand new and want to be sure you understand the instrument completely? I can help.
I've taught both privately and in the classroom (in schools from Pre-K to college, and through workshops), and have been a working musician and teacher for more than 25 years. I have a degree in music from Columbia College Chicago (Summa Cum Laude). My students have included everyone from absolute beginners to working professionals like myself. Many of my beginner students have also gone on to careers in music.
My approach in private instruction involves tailoring the lessons to the specific needs of each student, while making sure that he/she has the knowledge and technique to succeed in their creative endeavors. Whether it's a hobby or a potential career, I leave nothing out. You will learn the entire instrument. In cases where a student works in more than one subject, one session can typically be applied to all/both of them. I striv
e to help every student find their own creative voice, while building the skill sets required to work in any style of music.
As a writer, I've written for everything from music publications to LinkedIn, and have an award-winning nonfiction book that chronicles my journey as an independent musician.
As an entrepreneur, I've had several non-music businesses on the side over the years, and have weathered every twist and turn of the music industry for more than 30 years. My indie record label, founded in 1994, is breaking new ground by empowering artists to have a hand in their own business success while never compromising their art.
As a public speaker, I started speaking in church at age 9. I have spoken to audiences large and small about everything from music education and the music business, to dealing with addiction, to the teachings of engaged Buddhism.

Our lessons will be relaxed and fun. I take pride in tailoring my curriculum to the needs and goals of each individual student- This helps me make sure that you are learning at a pace that feels comfortable for you, yet challenging.
We will work together to develop both your musicianship and creativity. I am a firm believer in music being a healing and mind-opening practice. One of my primary goals while teaching is to give my students an outlet to express themselves in a healthy and meaningful way. Let's get started!
Topics we can focus on together: - Theory - Improvisation (rock solos!) - Strumming/finger-picking patterns - How to sing and play at the same time - Songwriting/Recording techniques - Lyric Writing - Stage Presence - Exploring different musical genres
My classical training began at age 10, when I started to play the viola. From there, I was able to translate my musical skills to violin, guitar, piano, voice, composition, and songwriting.
Originally a biology major at SUNY Purchase College, I quickly became restless knowing that I was unable to focus on music enough. So, I switched it up, followed my passion, and began studying music theory and production. Since then, my life has been focused on teaching, performing, writing, and recording music- and I wouldn't have it any other way! It's been quite a journey, and I can't wait to share all that I've learned along the way with you.
Whether you are just starting out, or are looking to further the knowledge you already have, I will meet you at where you are, and help you to achieve your personal goals.
Together we can work o
n technique, theory, improvisation, ear-training, songwriting, and more!
My 9-year old daughter's first lesson was great! Paul was patient as he showed her how to tune and play her guitar. She has never played or taken lessons, and this first experience set her up for to enjoy playing, an taking more lessons.

Wow. Laid back and listened to me. I’m playing music I like now. Thank you Paul. Beginning a new chapter
I am a self taught musician. Later studied music in order to hone my skills. I now play music as my sole profession with over 150 shows a year as and acoustic solo artist. I am also a recording artist as well as a singer/songwriter.
I hope to help people not only enjoy playing but understand the potential for music to be a successful career financially. I want to help people accomplish and learn.
My name is Mel Burns. I have been playing music for 22 years. Began as a self taught musician for my youth group when I was 14. I've been playing music and teaching students guitar sporadically in the church. I have also taught some college courses on song writing and now play acoustic guitar and sing as my sole profession and income. Depending on your goals when it comes to music I would love to assist you.
"I've never played Guitar before and since trying to play, I have met so many teachers, none of them really helped and were impatient, but having had Billy
as my instructor, I have picked it up so quickly. Its only been a few weeks and I'm playing my favourite tunes. I highly, highly recommend! Very sweet and patient teacher, i'm still taking lessons with him :)"
"Tom is great. He takes time with you and answers all your questions. I can see him being the right teacher for me. I would highly recommend Tom to anyone
with or without experience!"
"The best teacher that I had in over 30 years"
"Joseph was able to instruct me on jazz music which was new to me. He was very patient in getting me to play chords that I never did before and to do progr
essions up and down the neck of the guitar. He made it seem easy after a while, even though it was tough to grasp at first. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to learn to play the guitar!"
"Adam is helping me get back to playing guitar after some 40 years in which I did not play at all. With his help, I’m refreshing what I used to know (basic
chords and notes on the staff), and extending my skills into new areas, like finger-picking, barre chords, and tablature-reading--plus learning a lot of new songs. He’s an excellent teacher."
"Hanaa is truly the best instructor one could ever hope for. My daughter looks forward to each lesson with great enthusiasm and anticipation. Hanaa's tec
hnical skill in teaching the guitar is definitely 'A+'. More importantly, especially for a young child, is her real concern and caring for her students. We most highly recommend Hanaa--you cannot find a better teacher!"
"That was my first guitar lesson in houston and I am not going to bother myself looking for guitar tutors anymore, I really enjoyed it. Rachel is an awesom
e tutor, she gives everything from inside her that makes you feel every single chord on guitar. Ofcourse i recommend everybody to take guitar lessons with Rachel"
"Great instructor! Very patient and knowledgeable. Great choice for anyone wanting to learn or just improve their guitar playing."
"Chris was on time and well prepared. He spent time understanding where my 11-year old son was in terms of skills, experience and interests, and tailored
the lesson accordingly. My son thinks Chris is "awesome", and is looking forward to the next lesson!"
Excited about learning how to play the guitar? Awesome! You'll need the perfect beginner guitar, a great teacher by your side, and a personal commitment to learning and improving. Using extra resources like smartphone or tablet apps to help you practice efficiently in between lessons can help a ton, as well. But with so many apps available these days, you may feel a little overwhelmed when you're trying to find one to download. Below are a handful that we really like.
