Private Broadway Singing Teacher

Having recently attained my MM: Vocal Pedagogy from ASU, I am now accepting new students at my home studio in Chandler!

With 16 years of experience as a singer and 8 years as a music educator, I am well-trained to safely teach all voices and most genres: including musical theatre, pop, rock, jazz, classical/opera, choral, and folk. Before moving to Chandler in 2016, I was a full-time musician in San Diego for 6 years, where I taught private voice & piano lessons, children’s group classes, and also ran summer camps and several choirs for adults & kids. I am committed to inspiring my students to explore and share their own love of music, regardless of age or prior musical experience.

For the past 8 years, I've been helping my students achieve their musical goals: get cast as lead & supporting roles in musical theatre (MT) shows, prepare choir & solo songs for upcoming concerts, gain entrance into college voice programs, learn how to "belt" properly without strain, or simply ...

About Jill

I have been studying the singing voice for 18 years, and am highly trained to teach all voices, now including transgender singers! I recently attained my Masters of Music in Vocal Performance/Pedagogy, as well as certification to teach contemporary styles from Shenandoah Conservatory’s CCM Vocal Institute. I have a growing voice studio online and at my home, and I teach most genres, including musical theatre (including belting), pop, rock (including scream/distortion), R&B, jazz, folk, classical/opera, and choral. With 10 years' experience as a music educator, I've taught a wide range of music, including private voice lessons, children’s group classes for voice and piano, directing summer music and Glee! camps, directing youth and adult choirs, directing and accompanying worship music, and vocal directing musical theater shows.

I stri

ve to help my students achieve their musical goals; some accomplishments include: get cast in lead and paid roles for musical theater shows, prepare for choir performances and college auditions, qualify for Regional and All-State Choirs, and how to belt out your favorite karaoke song without strain! I truly believe that a strong technical foundation not only makes singing in any genre possible, but ensures healthy singing habits for life. I am committed to helping my students find their unique voice and share that voice with the world.

I only work with singers of ages 12+ in my private voice studio because I believe that younger children receive the most benefit by singing in a choir with their peers, rather than taking private lessons for their young, under-developed voices. Better instrument options for private lessons for younger children are piano, violin, or guitar - which in order to play, require finger coordination and theory comprehension. I assign music theory and ear-training exercises to my voice students during lessons, as being able to read music well is essential to becoming a well-rounded, independent musician.

Learning piano late in life!

It has been such a pleasant experience to take lessons from Jill. She is very positive and easy to understand in her instruction. I am a beginner in piano, and I feel I have learned a lot after only 3 lessons. She would be a wonderful piano teacher, no matter what your age!

My son enjoys his music lessons with Jonathan, who is infinitely patient teaching what can be a challenging instrument. My son responds well to Jonathan's instruction, and he appreciates having access to a professional performer as a teacher. Jonathan encourages my son to learn a variety of music, including both challenging classical pieces and more recognizable popular and jazz pieces, which helps to sustain his interest in the lessons.

Working with Amanda Baker during the spring of 2017 truly revolutionized the way I think about my voice. We explored techniques that enabled me to understand the ease required for singing above the staff, as well as the intricacies of resonance. The time we spent together was an amazing stepping stone for the Young artist opera program I attended during the summer of 2017. If not for our working together I would not have performed as successfully as I did. She was extremely prudent, diligent, compassionate, and encouraging. She is a grade-A 5-star teacher in my book!

Private Broadway Singing Teacher

I've been acting and singing professionally in the Milwaukee area for several years for a variety of shows. I can show you how to sing and act in tandem with control over the voice but also emotion to suit the situation. I've taught students of all ages and experience levels from those just beginning to those already being paid to sing.

About Coltyn

If you’re searching for a professional Music Teacher and Performer who can give you the personalized attention you deserve, look no further! I’m an experienced and knowledgeable teacher of singing lessons with a degree in voice education and state certification to teach music. I've been offering my instructive services since 2016 to clients in the greater Milwaukee area. I can help you unlock your full vocal potential by providing the technical guidance and fundamental skills you need in order to succeed.

My lessons focus on controlling the voice. For beginning students I teach the basics of posture and breathing that will lead to a healthy control of not only the voice, but the whole body. As we continue I move onto learning different individual skills based upon what the students needs most. Some of the most common goals of my studen

ts that I address are learning to sing with more volume without needing a substantial amount of effort, extending the range, and eliminating habits that can cause permanent damage later in life. For my more advanced students or those looking to sing a variety of styles I teach how to alter the voice subtly such that a student could sing drastically different songs with quality.

Every lesson I teach is a unique and individual experience. I teach from a foundation based in the classical vocal style rooted in bel canto, however, I tailor every lesson to the student. I first determine what are the students goals and needs, and then we find the best approach for the student to learn. It is important that the student has a voice in what they sing, and how they learn; however, I will insist that they build a solid foundation to ensure that they become strong musicians who can sing in every genre if they choose, and can sing safely with vocal health as a number one priority.

About Giustino

Giustino C., conductor and baritone, is a musician with tenacity and passion. As an avid performer, vocal coach, and conductor he has enjoyed a musical career on multiple continents. Mr. C. received his Master’s in performance under the tutelage of Dr. Kathleen Maurer. This Season he will be joining The Belle Ensemble as the role of Uberto in La Serva Padrona, joining the Little Traverse Civic Theatre in The Christmas Schooner, and performing the role of Arasamene in the World Premiere of Serse by Isaac Wittenberg.

As an educator, clinician, and vocal coach he has worked in Chicago, Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Florida, a

s well as toured Europe with the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Youth Choir. He is an active member in the National Association of Teachers of Singing(NATS), and a regular adjudicator in the Great Lakes Region.

Want to Someday Star On Broadway? 3 Tips from an Expert

By Suzy S.

Dreaming about someday starring on the Broadway stage? Here, Los Angeles, CA teacher Meredith P. shares her expert tips to help you get there...   As an audience member, you can sit back and relax at a Broadway show, and not truly understand the work that it takes to get to that coveted stage and the tremendous blood, sweat, and tears that go into each performance. As with athletes, the only thing the audience sees is the end result. A lot of times it can be intoxicating and glamor …
