We will focus 1/2 of the lesson on repertoire and 1/2 the lesson on technique. Many of my students text/email me a few days prior to our scheduled lesson with a song selection for the week. Eric is a great singing instructor! He's doing a great job tailoring the lessons to fit my skill level and goals as an amateur learning basic technique. For the first few lessons, he took the time to understand my voice, taught me exercises to learn how to better control my voice, and helped me practice singing some of my favorite (pop) songs. I feel like my voice and understanding of singing has improved significantly in even just a handful of lessons. Eric is also very patient and encouraging, which has given me a lot more confidence in enjoying my hobby to its fullest extent!

My voice is in the best shape it's ever been and I sound better than I ever have! I've been with Eric for years and have continued to get better the entire time. I come from a choral, liturgical signing background, so he's helped me with placement, chest voice, and pronunciation for pop, rock, country, and other genres. I highly recommend!

I cannot learn something without wanting to immediately begin sharing what I know. That's what inspired me to begin teaching, and it continues to drive me today.

My credo is, "Take fun seriously." There is a reason we say that we "play" music; it is meant to be entertaining, for the listener and the performer. I know you want to learn to play an instrument so that you have one more pleasure in your life, and not to take up a new profession. But I also assume the highest potential in my students. If something is worth learning, it's worth learning well. My goal is for people to say to each other, "There seem to be a lot of good guitarists coming out of the Madison area. What's in the water?" My bottom line: Whatever your personal objectives, it is my job to discover them and help you meet them, whether you're interested performing at the campfire or the concert hall.

If you do not live nearby, we can learn together through online chat via FaceTime, Skype, or Google Hangout. I ...

This class is perfect for beginners and intermediate students! We will learn techniques, styles and how to craft our tone while studying the history of the bass guitar and the influential musicians who played them.

About Rachel
I started my musical path in a Ballet Studio. I fell in love with the crackle of the vinyl record playing as I learned to listen and dance with the rhythm.

I started playing the guitar when I was in elementary and took classical lessons until I was a teenager.I really enjoy the art of practice and the journey of patience. The process of learning has helped me carve out and cultivate my style of music. It's opened up a lot of doors for me in my life. I've had the honor to play with a lot of great performers and have been lucky enough to tour the U.S. and Canada with festivals and showcases such as Vans Warped Tour, South By Southwest and the Halifax Pop Explosion.I've been the opening act for Carolyn Wonderland, Maria Taylor, Tsunami Bomb, Tilly and the Wall, Basia Bulat, Rise Against, Strike Anywhere. Anathallo, Cursive, Milton Hopki
ns, and Pony Up.

When I have free time I volunteer with the Houston Chapter of Girls Rock Camp to help teach girls empowerment through songwriting and music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I began teaching as an afterschool job when I was 16. I was homeschooled, so I feel that the experience taught me that everyone learns differently and that there is not just one standardized method to playing music.

My teaching style varies with each student, but the one constant is my ability to make each and every client I encounter completely fall in LOVE with music. It's my super power.

Lesson plans are tailored for your specific needs and to help you achieve your musical goals and aspirations at your desired pace. I enjoy my students and making music with them.

Here is an overview of the lessons that I provide.

Finger Picking, Song Writing, Rhythm, Lead, Scales,Modes & Ear Training.

Songwriting and composition: Learn techniques, how to brain storm and plot your musical story line. This class pairs great with vocal lessons or guitar lessons.

Hello, my name is Ray and I enjoy working with students from ages 8 and up. I have been teaching for 25+ years and my passion for music instruction and development has only grown stronger with age. My background in music covers jazz, Latin, pop, rock, R&B, funk, gospel, and blues. I look forward to the opportunity of working with you or your child!

About Raymond
MY BACKGROUND:
Originally from Port Huron Michigan Ray A. began learning to play the piano at age 5. His formal studies in piano include training at Bellarmine University (jazz studies) and the Naval School of Music (classical and jazz studies). Ray also completed electronics and computer studies DeVry University to stage his background for electronic music and music media.

MY EDUCATOR EXPERIENCE:
Ray served as the Music Media/MIDI Specialist and piano instructor at the Naval School of Music during the mid and late 90's and 2010-2014. His expertise allowed him to design develop and implement a music media/MIDI program for the Armed Forces Music Program. This program played a significant role in futurizing the way military musician's train produce and perform music. As a private instructor Ray has continued to developed and influenc
e many musicians at the beginner intermediate and advanced levels of training. His practical systematic and thorough teaching method allows students to develop quickly and rise to their full potential. Retiring from military music recently Ray is busy working on various recording projects and freelancing as a pianist/keyboardist teaching private lessons and providing music media services in the greater Atlanta area.

MY PERFORMANCE:
As a performing artist Ray has worked as a professional musician for the last 25 years performing around the world in more than 20 different countries with various ensembles. He has recorded on numerous albums with various artists to include the Army Ground Forces Band, Orquesta Sensacional, and most recently with the Ian Charleton Big Band (Brain Chatter Album available on Spotify). FOR BEGINNER PIANO STUDENTS:
For students just starting out I use the Leila Fletcher Piano series, John Thompson, or Alfred series. After students are doing establish the basic and are doing well I introduce music theory and technique (scales, basic chords, and technical exercises) as well.

FOR INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED LEVEL STUDENTS:
I define intermediate level students as students who already have had 2 yo 4 years of lessons and experience and can already play pretty well. With this level of student I work on strengthening their foundation and rounding out and diversifying their skill set. usually with this level of student they have specific goals in mind that we work towards as well.

The intermediate level is also where various piano and music styles are addressed to include classical, pop, rock, R&B, country, blues, jazz (modern & swing) and Latin, contemporary christian, and gospel. The technical aspects of playing these styles like chords, chord progressions, scales, modes, licks and ornaments, technical exercises, sight reading, lead sheet interpretation, music theory, ear training, playing by ear, song form, and improvisation, intros & endings, and performance concepts and techniques are addressed as well.

OVERVIEW:
Overall my students that apply themselves usually progress quickly and exponentially. some of them have went on to be professional musicians and band leaders and have far surpassed their initial intended goals and objectives.

I've been teaching online and private lessons for over 30 years; students of all ages, levels, & styles. I have a bachelor's degree in music with a special emphasis on guitar and music theory, and I've toured the world with an international metal band (Manowar). Through my extensive teaching experience, I have developed a teaching style which caters to each student, helping them reach their musical goals and having fun at the same time! Let's get started with learning how to lay down the groove and a tight foundation with the drummer to help carry the band!

About David
I’m a professional guitarist, songwriter, and recording artist, respected by my peers and the industry as one of the top 10 shredders and fastest guitarists in the world. I’m well-known for playing 7-string over-the-neck scales and arpeggios, string skipping, and mastering many guitar techniques. This expertise has brought me many high-level guitar students from around the world, while I am still also very successful teaching beginner guitarists of all ages.

I was a member of the metal band Manowar from 1988 to 1995, playing on the epic, certified double-platinum album “The Triumph of Steel” and co-writing 5 songs on that record. I toured all over the world during those years, regularly performing to crowds of 10,000+, in over 50 countries. In later years, I played in front of some of the biggest rock and metal crowds all over the w
orld, including 70,000+ people at Earthshaker Fest 2005 and 40,000+ people with my own band DSG at the First Annual Magic Circle Festival in 2007.

I set out on my own from Manowar in 1995 and attended Roosevelt Music University in Chicago to further my guitar studies. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music specializing in jazz and classical guitar, music theory, and composition.

I continue to record and perform live all over the globe. I have recorded and appear on over 26 CDs as a guest solo guitarist, and there’s more to come. Even before my days as lead guitarist of Manowar, I had already received numerous accolades. My technique and blistering speed on the guitar won for me the moniker “The Shred Demon”. Such revered artists as Michael Angelo Batio, Joe Stump, Rusty Cooley, George Bellas, Uli Jon Roth and Tom Hess have testified. George Bellas has said, “DSG should stand for Dangerous Speed Guitar”.

My playing styles vary from classical to shred metal and everything in between. I teach the beginner to the advanced/master student, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, classical, and bass guitar, in various genres ranging from classical to metal to country to neo-classical. With 40+ years of playing professionally, and 30+ years of teaching, I use my expertise to cut off the fat and get down to the quickest ways for my students to become better players, allowing my students to excel at a faster pace. I look forward to taking YOUR playing to the next level in the shortest amount of time, and we can have a lot of fun in the process!

Great instructor! Has always gone the right pace to where I'm learning new things and perfecting things throughout every lesson. He is always very helpful, and if you want to learn something, he will help you learn it.

Ive been taking lessons from David for about a year. He is very versatile... everything from Blues, Classical, Rock and of course Metal. I've been playing for years, but decided to go to him to learn to solo better. He is great with beginners, from kids to experienced guitarists. He is absolutely the fastest guitarist I have ever seen, especially sweep picking. But, when he slows things down, he has tons of tone and feel, and I have learned a lot about that just by watching him play. He is educated in music, and has much experience from a life, as far as I can tell, dedicated to music. He truly seems to care about your playing, and seems to enjoy developing students into better players.
