Michael is a stickler for doing things right, but in a nice way. I feel that his mode of teaching is best, because it builds a solid foundation for further learning.

After a brief intro, Mike explained where're going with his lessons. I was having some problems getting my fingers near certain fret areas he wanted me to work on, so he very kindly placed some colors tape where I'm to put my fingers. That helped a lot. Been practicing an hour per day, & I'm getting a bit better daily. I've got a long way to go, but with Mike's help I'll get there. ELLIOT

I'm glad I found Paul on takelessons.com. I was looking for someone to help me take my decent but untrained voice to the next level. Paul is committed to helping me advance toward my goal of being a singer-songwriter. In addition to the exercises we work on to strengthen my voice and gain control, he has given me some strategies to track my progress and improve more quickly. He also encourages me to take risks and go out and sing karaoke. He is caring and authentic and genuinely invested in my growth, and I am becoming a better musician because of it. Thank you, Paul!!

I have a degree in music, and have taught at three summer camps three music stores and two universities.

I have been teaching guitar since 1990. I teach ages 9 and up, and I aim to tailor lessons to work with your natural strengths and learning style.

I offer note-reading but it is optional. We can study guitar using tablature and chord diagrams. The important thing is to make great music, enjoy the process, play songs you like, make steady progress and become independent.

If I teach you well, eventually you won't need me very much- you'll be able to figure things out on your own,

I started playing guitar when I was 4. I've played classical, rock, a bit of jazz, folk, a little bluegrass, and fingerstyle. I love the guitar and I love teaching!

About Carla

Music is my LIFE! After more than 25 years of teaching at music camps, music stores, 3 colleges and my home, I completely understand that the lessons are all about YOU, the student: what you want to learn, taught to you in a way that works for your brain and personality. And if you don't know

Carla's teaching technique was perfect for me. I have played the guitar for longer than I care to admit and even I was tired of hearing my same old stuff. She incrementally moved me forward line by line, measure by measure to where I now have several fingerpicking style numbers in my portfolio.

Playing for my own enjoyment is now enjoyable once again.

My lessons were online and very effective - when I got stuck, Carla would send me a sample audio clip of her playing the difficult part which was a godsend for me in how I learn new musical things.

I highly recommend Carla and her Carlalology method of guitar teaching. You won't be disappointed.

i originally selected carla as my instructor based on her skills, resume, other students comments etc. listed on the website. shortly after my lessons began i realized she was a vital resource for guidance, knowledge and material all of which would enable me to grow as a musician. she is talented, smart, inspirational, funny and more, what else could you ask for?!!!!

For general education in learning to play guitar, we focus on learning chords, strum patterns, simple progressions and then easy songs. Students are encouraged to bring song ideas in - I probably have them already - so we can begin moving in the direction they want, the reason they want to play guitar, and achieve success in playing their favorite songs. Beyond that, it is up to the student how far they wish to go.

About Geoff

I am a professional musician with a career spanning 40+ years (touring and studio work), and 30+ years teaching music, including college level classes. What do you want to learn? How far you go is up to you! *** Lesson Details *** BEGINNING students start with the fundamentals, what you must

"I started taking lessons with Ahmad a couple of months ago and would recommend him for anyone who wants to learn guitar. You get homework and it gets reviewed at the beginning of each lesson. He tailors exercises based on what you like to play and builds the course based on your goals. I can already notice a significant improvement in my playing and whole understanding of the instrument.

He's a great teacher, very charismatic and energetic."

"If you want a teacher who spoon feeds to you, this is not the teacher for you. If you want to actually learn and get to a place where you can explore on your own, Maria is wonderful. I personally wasted years going to teachers who would teach me exactly how I wanted but I couldn't do anything outside of lessons because I was never taught the foundation. Maria helped catch me up and now our lessons have turned into something I didn't know they could be. I'm learning new techniques and it's fun to apply them to the music I love. She's a positive teacher, but still strict. You will learn a lot."

"I started taking guitar lessons from Rhonda almost 2 years ago as an adult student with zero musical experience. She immediately made me feel comfortable, and she's great at calibrating her teaching and style to your needs and interests while always building on them. I'm a working mom, so I have limited practice time, but she's always very understanding while still nudging me forward at my own pace. Guitar is something I do for myself, and I can't think of a better companion and leader on that journey than Rhonda!"

3 Beautiful Fingerpicking Patterns for Acoustic Guitar | TakeLessons

Looking to bring a deeper dimension to your acoustic guitar playing? Guitar teacher Jerry W. shares three simple fingerpicking patterns you can use to start making more rich and beautiful music today. Many guitar players focus only on strumming patterns or guitar solo licks and miss out on the beauty of fingerpicking. Becoming a well-rounded guitar player means building up skills in both hands — not just your fretting hand — and basic fingerpicking skills are a must for many guitar st …
