I have a B.A. in Foreign Languages and Literature issued by the University of Verona, Italy.
I have studied French for several years and I tutored it in the past. I will be very good to teach beginner to intermediate level.
I am a native Italian speaker with a several years of experience in teaching Italian and English. I am a very easy-going, open-minded, professional person. I like to teach because it gives me the opportunity to meet new students, share my knowledge as well as my culture and experience.
I started tutoring back when I was attending the university in Verona, Italy. I was tutoring English, Math and some other subjects. Later on, I continued teaching English while I was working in other fields. In 2009 I moved to Los Angeles. For a couple of years, I taught ESL in a college, and in the meantime I tutored Italian to private students. Since 2009 I have been tutoring students both on the English and Italian subjects.
I really believe that in teaching, a language a primary focus should be on life skills. Not being an English native-speaker,
I learned how important it is to be able to express basic needs and to perform primary activities. However, it is important to consider other points like grammar, reading, writing. I also think that no matter what a teacher should always take into account the needs of the students and subsequently I plan my classes reflecting on the student's demands.
As to the different approaches and materials that I use, I suppose that it is important to change them frequently in order to keep the classes more interesting. Of course, there are some exceptions. For instance, in the past I taught for a while TOEFL and for that type of classes I used more traditionalist and academic methods and materials.

One of my greatest passion is to cook. I was extremely lucky to be taught and introduced to the art of cooking by my grandmother. She was born at the beginning of the previous century and she lived in different cities so she got accustomed to different traditions and shared them with me. I love to cook for smaller groups, using traditional Italian ingredients to prepare simple, but exquisite dishes that belong to the tradition of my native country. If you want to experience some real Italian food, you are definitely in the right hands. Just sit back, relax sip a glass of Italian wine while I cook for you and I share my art.

I've been teaching French since 2002 and my students have gone on to develop a deep love of French culture, travel abroad, and make new friends. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to communicate in it in everyday situations and as time goes on you'll be able to watch films and listen to and understand music in this language. I specialize in French literature. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you! J’adore ça, quoi?!
Hi, there! My name is Aliaksandra and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2001 and have loved helping my students communicate in the language they want, make new foreign friends, and travel and study abroad. I went to Minsk State Linguistic University (Republic of Belarus) and earned a Master degree in Philological Sciences in 2003. I'm a responsible person always ready to help and my teaching style is students’ needs oriented, cooperative, and activity-approached. My motto is Practice makes perfect. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

Aliaksandra has been excellent with our 8 year old daughter. I’m very happy we found her and that she is close enough to come to our house. Our daughter loves her lessons and is learning so much :)

My 8 year daughter is taking one-on-one French lessons with Ms Aliaksandra. She has taken 3 lessons so far and loving it. I was invited to observe her last lesson and I am absolutely impressed with Ms Aliaksandra’s teaching. She speaks only French during the lesson, exposing my daughter to the language. She started with everyday things but is also using them in simple sentences. My daughter loves her lessons and can’t wait for the next one. She practice at home as well so she can make her teacher! We are glad to have found Ms Aliaksandra.
I can especially help students who are already studying French, but need additional assistance in mastering the grammar, pronunciation, and usage of the language, with an emphasis on written French.
I am a professional musician, specializing in traditional American and Irish music and song; I can, however, also teach classical guitar and beginning-intermediate violin. My CD, "American Stranger," has received critical acclaim and I have authored two books on DADGAD guitar for Mel Bay Publications.
I taught myself guitar at the age of thirteen, but took three years of lessons at Washington University, where I also studied English and French. As an adult I became interested in fingerstyle guitar in open tunings, especially DADGAD. I am, however, happy to teach in standard tuning--including basic guitar proficiency, classical guitar, and "folk" guitar.
I have played violin since I was eleven, taking lessons until the age of sixteen and playing in both high school orchestra and the local youth symphony. I later learned to sus
pend much of my classical technique in order to play both old-time and traditional Irish fiddle as authentically as possible; but I still retain my initial training and apply good basic violin technique to my fiddle and (of course) her violin teaching, while tailoring it to the musical idioms of each of students.
I have also studied voice, which again, however, I have never allowed to interfere with my performance of traditional songs--largely because I had developed a traditional approach to the singing of both American southern mountain repertory and traditional Irish song many years before receiving any formal instruction. This training, however, has given me greater insight into how to get the most out of your voice for almost any style.
I also taught myself to play lap dulcimer, basing my approach on the Eastern Kentucky styles associated with Jean Ritchie, Barbara Edwards, and Anne MacFie—that is, primarily using a small dowel stick or noter to sound the melody, and playing counter-melodies for song accompaniments.
My clawhammer banjo-playing is influenced by various Appalachian instrumentalists and accompanists (including Dock Boggs, Clarence Ashley, Hobart Smith, and Lily May Ledford), but my style is also influenced by years of playing with midwestern and southern-style fiddlers.
I welcome students ages 10 or above, and have learned to adapt my teaching style to the individual student, helping each one to make the most of his or her talents and enthusiasms, while emphasizing sound technique and good practice habits.
I also teach academic subjects, especially English (in which I hold a Ph.D.) and French (in which I hold a B.A.). In English, I emphasize good grammar and solid composition skills and try to get my students as excited as I am about everything from sentence structure to Shakespeare.
We had some trouble with the audio on her end, but once we got going, it went well. I spoke and understood a lot of French in my first hour! Julie is going to help me with singing in French. I'm so excited.

Many people are talented as performers but not gifted as instructors - Julie is most definitely both. She uses her keen ear to let you know your strengths, and finds productive ways to help you improve weak points. She lives and breathes traditional music and it is always a true delight to learn from her.

I have been taking lessons in classical style guitar from Julie for about two years. She has patiently brought me through increasingly more difficult technique by choosing a wide variety of challenging but enjoyable pieces to practice. I am gradually working my way up the fret towards the 5th position. She has helped me with theory, including rhythm, the major and minor scales and chord building. Her empathy is a particular blessing for me because of my poor eyesight and the arthritis in my wrists, hands and fingers.”

How can a word be masculine or feminine, and how do you tell the difference? Tutor Willy M. shares some secrets to help you memorize your French vocabulary...
One of the hardest things for many students of French to learn is how to tell the difference between masculine and feminine French nouns. Gender with regards to words is not something we spend a lot of time thinking about in English, but in French vocabulary every single noun will have either a masculine gender or a feminine gender.
