Violin is one of my favorites to listen to and includes such a wide range of music, from fiddle, to blues to of course classical.
Michael has worked with kids for 10 years in schools and arts programs to find fun and their best self through performance. He has taught orchestra, chamber music, jazz band and music theory in the public schools, while performing in local ensembles in and around the city. He also has studied drama, voice and movement and believes all these skills help in expressing yourself--no matter what pieces you want to play!
In addition to working with students K-12, he also loves working with adults. I try to provide a nurturing atmosphere for someone trying revive or discover previously hidden musical interests!
*** Lesson Details *** We begin with what we love. The student usually chooses one of his or her favorite songs to interpret. Later, we add music, usually from the classical or jazz fields, that build our skills and help us f
eel successful. All technique is based on real music. Learning scales, keys and music theory become part of the music. By the end of 6 months, we will have a "repertoire" of several songs that express our best self!
I teach my students to be their own teacher. I tailor every lesson to your individual needs and interests, so you are excited to go home and practice every day!

Violin lessons with fun songs and strong music basics. Based on each student's strengths and weaknesses. And also, what they would like to learn and get out of lessons.
I like to keep lessons fun and interesting for each student. While concentrating on tone, rhythm, and creativity too. Look forward to getting you started!
***My goal as a teacher***
I try to teach what the students are interested in and make it fun and interesting so that they learn the lessons and their favorite songs. Every student is different and needs to be taught in a way that makes learning easy and fun for them.
I have a passion for all people and all ages and am blessed to be able to teach from the very young, (ages 2-5 Toddlermusik lessons) to teens and adults.....all the way to senior citizens. I've had many older students all the way up to a 93 year old gentleman who is taking singing lessons and asked me to put music to his lyrics. We have recorded over 50 songs together.
I started playing trumpet in 5th grade and knew that music was for me. I also liked playing with drums and piano also because they seemed exciting. I've competed in WSMA (Wi
sconsin School Music Assoc.) for many years which taught me a lot about performing for judges, being relaxed, and the importance of preparation.
I started playing the guitar and bass guitar when I was 13 and have never stopped practicing and performing since. I also have done a lot of writing, recording, producing, and have a Pro Tools Studio for students to use.
***College and Teaching***
I began teaching music lessons in college and enjoyed it very much. I received my B.A. in Music from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. There I was very much involved with guitar, piano, voice, trumpet, and being in bands and writing music. After receiving my B.A. I also took 3 years of Education classes at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. I write, produce, and perform my music along with performing with bands around the Midwest.
***Life in Music***
After receiving my B.A. in Music, I continued teaching and opened up my home studio. After a year and a half I had enough students that I was able to quit my factory job and teach music full time. I've been teaching, performing, and writing music ever since.
***Performing and more***
I have been on stage performing music since I was 11. In school band, marching band, competing in music competitions, and in bands touring the Midwest.
I have recorded many CDs with bands and on my own. My most ambitious project was a CD of my original music called, "Girls". I've performed my music and promoted it by being interviewed on Milwaukee radio stations along with internet music sites such as CD Baby. It is very exciting talking on live radio about my music and my passion. It is also even more exciting, and scary, playing my music live on the radio, lol.
I have been teaching for over 2 decades. Students take lessons for: * guitar (electric / acoustic) * piano * violin * voice * drums * trumpet * saxophone * harmonica * music theory / ear training * studio recording / songwriting
I also give kindermusik lessons to 2-5 year old all the way up to senior citizens 70-93. I play parties, concerts, and Nursing Home performances.
I am experienced as an online (Skype) instructor, and I have taught online lessons worldwide. I've witnessed great results from my online students (both national and international).
I hope I can help you with all of your musical goals and get you going in a positive musical direction.
This was my first experience with on line teaching and it was great. I had tried reading the books and watching some videos on You Tube and was not making progress. Just a few minutes with Paul and what I couldn't figure out suddenly made sense.
Looking forward to next week.

My son loves his lessons, he gets really nervous prior because he always wants to get it right however, he likes the fact he’s at home and no one is watching him as he’s learning! As his parents we like that as a military family that will be moving again this is something that we can keep normal for him since it’s done online as well! Paul Neatherly is wonderful with him as well and very patient! I recommend this service and Paul to anyone looking for this type of learning!

Extremely knowledgeable. Pays attention to detail and he makes it easy for me to understand. I’m looking forward to my future lessons!
I began privately instructing students while I was still in high school. Thirty years later, my studio teaching experience continues to instill a passion for music and students that are performing in their own venues in school and the community. Knowing that the time I have with each person is leading them to grow and share their own abilities with others is truly the heart of where I think musical instruction should lead.
Hello. My name is Kendra and I have been performing and teaching professionally for over 25 years. Utilizing the Suzuki curriculum and supplemental methods, I like to provide a solid technical foundation as well as tailor each lesson to my students' personal musical interests and goals including classical, Irish and Bluegrass fiddle styles, jazz, blues, and popular music. Please note that I reserve studio space on a weekly or bi monthly basis. I look forward to helping you study music and reach your goals!
She is a great instructor! Very patient, especially when there are weeks where I don't get to practice very much because of work. She is understanding and always looks for the progress.

My 12 year old daughter had her first violin lesson today and this is her response on why she is giving Kendra a 5 star
- she was patient when I didn’t understand something
-she was good at explaining “how to” do different things throughout the lesson that I could understand
-she was overall really nice
Every student is unique, so I will tailor the lessons to you and make it fun! I'm passing on to you the training I received from the very best master teachers of the violin. Stringed instruments are challenging, but I believe in enjoying making music at every level, while establishing a strong foundation in good technique. For learning fundamentals of music theory and ear training, we will play various rhythm and improvisational games. I have extensive background in European classical music, and I've also done quite a bit of improvisation, some fiddling, and electric violin and viola. Whether you want to be the next Joshua Bell or the next Lindsey Stirling, I can help you improve your playing. I will help you sing, dance and tell a story through your violin or viola.
Born into a musical family in 1966, I have extensive performance experience as a classical violinist and violist, and I've been composing my own music since 2000. I am very grateful to have studied with some of the finest teachers of violin, viola and chamber music, and I graduated in 1990 from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, one of the best conservatories in the world. I've played often with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the San Francisco Symphony, and I was the Concertmaster of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia for 6 years.
I'd like to pass on the knowledge gained from my years of playing in orchestras, chamber groups and solo concerts. My teachers taught me the most refined techniques of tone production and continually showed me how to make the music come alive emotionally and tell a story.
I've also play
ed a lot of music by contemporary composers, in groups like Network for New Music and Orchestra 2001 in Philadelphia, as well as Left Coast Chamber Ensemble in the Bay area. Some special tours I went on were with the Philip Glass Ensemble and with Tan Dun, the composer of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
My own compositional adventures started in the the late 1990's when I started improvising with a DJ mix in a small club. Since then I have experimented a lot with pickups and electric violin. I've created surround sound collages, improvised music for modern dance, and learned digital audio editing skills. I am knowledgable about Pro Tools and Ableton Live. If you are interested in electric violin, looping or using MIDI effects, I can share what I've learned about these things.
You can make music and be creative no matter what playing level you are on. I believe in having fun as you learn, and I stress learning by example and by ear. Reading music is good, too, but often that gets in the way of listening. We will build a foundation step by step and add on elements when you are ready. Also - I can help you be relaxed as you play. I have never had tendonitis or another occupational injury, thanks to good posture and technique. Body awareness is part of the process. Let's have fun- - you can do this!
NOTE: for students age 7 to 12, I require the parent to be present at the lesson and take an active interest in the student's progress. Also, the child must want to play this instrument.
Gloria has been a wonderful and inspiring teacher over a period of very formative years for me as a violinist. We first worked together for all 4 years of my undergraduate violin performance degree at Mills College from 2010-14, and Gloria helped me develop a lasting appreciation for listening deeply and developing focus for small details. We worked together on everything from solo Bach and Hindemith sonatas to concertos, chamber music, and orchestral excerpts. She has been a lasting influence in my life as a musician, and I will continue to return for musical and creative advice over the years even when I live far away.
Having studied under Irish fiddle masters, I teach the traditional Irish fiddle for all levels. Whether you've never played before or simply are interested in Irish music, I will meet you at your level! I provide online or in person lessons with a flexible schedule.
Born and raised in Nashville and coming from a diverse musical background, I have been playing the traditional Irish fiddle from a very young age. I've studied under teachers such as Gretchen Priest-May and Rose Conway Flanagan in the past, and currently am under the brilliant tutelage of the Sligo fiddle master Brian Conway while I am in college.
Building a repertoire of trad tunes is my forte, as well as knowing the intricacies and history of the Irish fiddle. Whether you are a complete beginner or have been playing for some time and are interested in traditional Irish music, I will meet you at your level. I am passionate about passing on the music that is my heritage, and will provide online or in person lessons with a flexible schedule. Any age or experience level is welcome!
Music has been an important part of my life: I have been playing the piano for 14 years and the violin for 8 years now. I am an alumna of the Claremont Young Musicians Orchestra, and I am currently a violinist in the Pomona College Orchestra. I have placed in competitions such as the Diamond Bar Performing Arts Contest and Southwestern Youth Music Festival. Music helps me de-stress and view things from different perspectives. I have taught music for 3 years. I am hoping to share this passion with my community and would like to teach students of all ages and levels. I will tailor the lesson style according to the student's age. It’s never too late to start!
Hi there! I am majoring in mathematical and computational biology at Harvey Mudd College. I love studying the sciences because it's exciting to learn how things work and to logic things out. I love working with others - I have been tutoring students (ranging from elementary school to high school) on various school subjects for about 6 years now.
Music is another huge part of my life: I have been playing the piano for 14 years and the violin for 8 years now. I am currently a violinist in the Pomona College Orchestra. In 2014, I was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall after my participation in the American Fine Arts Festival. In high school, I placed either first or second on solo, duet, and ensemble competitions in various competitions held at places such as Diamond Bar High School and Chapman University. Through these activities, I prac
ticed on persistence and patience. Teaching experience wise, I have taught piano for 3 years before.
Additionally, I enjoy actively participating in my community. In high school, I was really involved in the American Red Cross and Key Club. In college, I am still finding joy in volunteering in different organizations on campus. I also enjoy other activities such as reading, meditation, theater, tennis, rock climbing, and ballroom.
I work with people according to their personality and the way that they learn best. If I were given the opportunity to tutor your student, I would make sure everything is clearly explained because I hate memorizing.
Sophia worked with my daughter during her Junior year of high school. My daughter was really struggling to understand the material and Sophia was a huge help. Sophia broke the lessons down and was able to instruct my daughter in a way that she could comprehend. Her grade improved by one letter which was wonderful. We truly appreciated Sophia's help.

"I am an adult learner and wanted a teacher that did not treat me like a child. Erin is a great teacher and treats me like an adult. She helps me to atta
in my goals and works at my pace. She encourages me especially when I don't think I can do a particular piece or perform at a recital. I know she can take me through to any level I want to accomplish on the violin."
"JoAnne is a really good teacher!"
Marilyn and Ivan

Playing some familiar tunes is one of the first things you may pursue when learning a new instrument. You might start the violin thinking it will be years before you can play the music you want, but you’ll be pleasantly surprised to learn that many familiar favorites are available as easy violin music.
Simplified sheet music makes it easier than ever to move from bland scales and exercises to pieces you actually recognize. Add these pieces to your repertoire early on and you’ll return to th …
