After studying at Cass Tech High School and Wayne State University in MI, I have enjoyed teaching privately, in groups, and at churches, I have performed vocally and instrumentally throughout the US and in 8 foreign countries, and taught at public, charter, and private schools. It is important to tailor each lesson to a student's individual needs and ability to ensure that their experience is as rewarding as possible!

*** Studio Equipment *** Studio with pianos; parents can sit in on lessons.
*** Travel Equipment *** When needed, I provide printed learning supplements or in e-mail. The student should hav

Suzuki Method O'Connor Method Have been teaching 20+ years
I grew up in Birmingham, AL, Boston, MA, and Cleveland, OH, and was classically trained on violin in all three cities by members of their respective orchestras. I began studying theory in 7th grade at The Alabama School of Fine Arts. I continued theory lessons while in Boston at the New England Conservatory of Music. I attended Summer music programs at Apple Hill (New Hampshire) and Sewanee (Tennessee) and have extensive experience in orchestra, quartet, and chamber group environments.
Upon graduating Emory university in 1992 I played professionally in Destin, FL as a bassist, guitarist, violinist, and vocalist. I performed as bassist and backing vocalist with "Salty Dog" for nearly a decade. I am the co-founder of the Destin, FL band "Beach Mice." We perform for several weddings, corporate events, and benefits every year. Beach
Mice is also popular on the festival circuit on the Emerald Coast.
I relocated to Atlanta in November of 2013, and currently perform weddings, and at various restaurants and events in the Atlanta area.
I have taught individuals and group lessons on violin, bass, and guitar since 1997 and for several consecutive years at Playground Music in Fort Walton Beach.
I have several videos available on YouTube, and a website which is easily located through a simple Google search.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you fulfill your musical goals and ambitions. Happy Playing - Cheers! dp
I have played the violin and the viola for 13 years, and have studied both extensively at a high level. You can expect a good mixture of technique and pieces in our lessons, along with many conversations about body awareness and tension release. The last two points are my passion projects, as I aim to help you develop pain free playing at all costs!
I am currently a freelance violist and strings teacher in the greater Hartford area. I completed a masters degree in viola performance at The Hartt School in December of 2018.
In the past year, I have collaborated with Teaching Artists International in traveling to Peru and Guatemala to observe and teach students immersed in the El Sistema philosophy. El Sistema began in Venezuela as a method of orchestral instruction that carries with it an essential component of social justice and inclusivity.
Teaching is a great opportunity to get to know a young artist. My primary goal as a teacher has always been to help my students develop technical and musical abilities through regular practice and problem solving approaches, while always encouraging a unique musical voice. In our lessons together, we will explore your personal mus
ical interests, and I will also introduce you to an applied technical approach to the viola and violin, which I will cater to your individual technical and musical needs!
I would be more than happy to answer any specific questions you have about my pedagogical approach, and I look forward to hearing from you!
Jake was great. Articulate, calm, encouraging. He understood my requests and was quick to asses what action to take. Thanks Jake.

Jake has a keen sense of how to pace lessons, and has a sharp eye & ear for technique. If I had just taught myself through YouTube I might be okay at violin, but the quality would be nowhere near where it is today without Jake's help. These lessons have been a good investment and I look forward to improving even more.

Jake Pietroniro is an excellent teacher and colleague. I’ve work with him for the last couple years and he has a great ability to tailor lessons to each students individual needs. I highly recommend Jake to any student interested in improving their musical abilities.
Hello! I am a trained Special Education teacher who has been playing the violin for 24 years. I have experience playing in community and competitive orchestras, and have received professional training. Currently I am playing in the Salem Community Orchestra. I use a blended style of teaching, and tailor instruction based on where the student is at.
Not only do I understand how to teach children, I have experience teaching adults the basics of music theory.
I am willing to drive to your home on Tuesday Mornings, before 8 AM, or after 7:30 PM.
I can't wait to get to know you!!
My name is Victoria Bartholomew and I am excited to start working with new students! I've been teaching private lessons since 2008 and have loved watching my students grow at their individual pace.
I went to the University of Utah and earned a degree in Special Education in 2013. I am easy going and dedicated to my student's success. My teaching style is casual, fun, and moves at the pace of the student. I find that it's very important to match the student's time and comfort level before assigning skills to work on. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!
I typically lean towards more traditional teaching methods but am quick to blend different methods based on student needs. Instead of forcing theory, I enjoy teaching theory in a practical way. Incorporating musical theory that is meaningful for a specific piece of music te
nds to lead to better memorization and increased understanding.
Online lessons are a great option, however I prefer in person lessons. I reserve online lessons for students who are 10 or older and have been playing for at least a year.
I am currently participating in the Salem Philharmonic Orchestra and taking my own advanced violin lessons to continually improve my teaching ability. However I also have experience playing for private weddings, in small groups, fiddle music, and traditional orchestras.
I also play the piano and trombone. This year I started accepting new piano students as well as violin students. I have taught piano this past year with a few beginner students. I have also taken my own private piano lessons from a professional, read several piano technic books, and prefer teaching from the Faber and Faber Piano Adventures Series.
My speciality in piano is teaching young learners who are 6 and under! Before students can read words, we focus on musical skills and experience the piano in different ways!
I teach violin at beginners to advanced, I have 33 years experience of teaching and performance. I've graduated from National Pedagogical University in Ukraine where I've been classically trained on the best musikal traditionals.
I am a professional violinist. I graduated from Kiev State University in Ukraine with a Masters of Music, in classic violin, voice, chorus conductor. I studied classical violin for 17 years and I have 32 years experience with children and teenagers of different ages as well.
My students can expect to improve week to week in their violin technique. Every student has a unique possibility to play violin. I teach students to release built up tension and apply foundational techniques in order to unlock their own individual performance. I can help any student to play with freedom, confidence, and expression. I can teach students to read music and pursue classical excellence,
My versatility, experience and formal training helps me to make the learning experience easy, stress free and fun
I can teach my clients in my (or your) apa
rtment ( I guarantee the honest)) in a wide age range, assorted skill levels with a variety of musical goals.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!
Every student is unique, so I will tailor the lessons to you and make it fun! I'm passing on to you the training I received from the very best master teachers of the violin. Stringed instruments are challenging, but I believe in enjoying making music at every level, while establishing a strong foundation in good technique. For learning fundamentals of music theory and ear training, we will play various rhythm and improvisational games. I have extensive background in European classical music, and I've also done quite a bit of improvisation, some fiddling, and electric violin and viola. Whether you want to be the next Joshua Bell or the next Lindsey Stirling, I can help you improve your playing. I will help you sing, dance and tell a story through your violin or viola.
Born into a musical family in 1966, I have extensive performance experience as a classical violinist and violist, and I've been composing my own music since 2000. I am very grateful to have studied with some of the finest teachers of violin, viola and chamber music, and I graduated in 1990 from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, one of the best conservatories in the world. I've played often with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the San Francisco Symphony, and I was the Concertmaster of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia for 6 years.
I'd like to pass on the knowledge gained from my years of playing in orchestras, chamber groups and solo concerts. My teachers taught me the most refined techniques of tone production and continually showed me how to make the music come alive emotionally and tell a story.
I've also play
ed a lot of music by contemporary composers, in groups like Network for New Music and Orchestra 2001 in Philadelphia, as well as Left Coast Chamber Ensemble in the Bay area. Some special tours I went on were with the Philip Glass Ensemble and with Tan Dun, the composer of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
My own compositional adventures started in the the late 1990's when I started improvising with a DJ mix in a small club. Since then I have experimented a lot with pickups and electric violin. I've created surround sound collages, improvised music for modern dance, and learned digital audio editing skills. I am knowledgable about Pro Tools and Ableton Live. If you are interested in electric violin, looping or using MIDI effects, I can share what I've learned about these things.
You can make music and be creative no matter what playing level you are on. I believe in having fun as you learn, and I stress learning by example and by ear. Reading music is good, too, but often that gets in the way of listening. We will build a foundation step by step and add on elements when you are ready. Also - I can help you be relaxed as you play. I have never had tendonitis or another occupational injury, thanks to good posture and technique. Body awareness is part of the process. Let's have fun- - you can do this!
NOTE: for students age 7 to 12, I require the parent to be present at the lesson and take an active interest in the student's progress. Also, the child must want to play this instrument.
Gloria has been a wonderful and inspiring teacher over a period of very formative years for me as a violinist. We first worked together for all 4 years of my undergraduate violin performance degree at Mills College from 2010-14, and Gloria helped me develop a lasting appreciation for listening deeply and developing focus for small details. We worked together on everything from solo Bach and Hindemith sonatas to concertos, chamber music, and orchestral excerpts. She has been a lasting influence in my life as a musician, and I will continue to return for musical and creative advice over the years even when I live far away.
Learning an instrument is no easy feat, but having the right plan, structure, and support makes all the difference. My teaching philosophy is designed to meet each student where they are, with a custom approach tailored to their individual needs.
I take time to get to know my students - how they practice, why they pursue their instrument, what their goals are, and who they really are as people. What is it that they truly need right now? Is it a practice schedule, or just some gentle encouragement? A new song to freshen things up, or a tough lesson about persistence? A conversation about homework, or a story to lighten the mood and bring some laughter into the music? As an experienced teacher, I know how big of a difference it makes to really understand the needs of a student.
I work with beginner, intermediate, and advanced students of all ages. I have experience with all major string curricula, as well as my own conservatory-trained approach. I have taught over 100 students in ...
I take time to get to know my students, and I meet them where they are.
"It's a blaze to work with Luther! He identified my problem very quickly and provided concrete advices on improving the sound. His understanding on how bea
utiful sound is made is very clear and systematic. There are so many dimensions in the sound making for violin but he always breaks it down and works on each individual part of my postures and bowing. My sound is now much fuller than before! He also not only teaches violin but also how to think about music in general. I feel like I am constantly critically thinking on how I can experiment with each phrase after I take lessons with Luther. I will highly recommend Luther if you want to find a violin teacher!"
"My seven years old daughter Sydney is one of Dan's students. She enjoys her weekly lessons with Dan very much. Dan is a very skilled, professional and pat
ient. He is one of these teachers that has pedagogic skills to guide his students. Dan is teaching my daughter plying violin but he also teaches her how to develop patience, perseverance and discipline. These qualities will definitely help my daughter in becoming a well adapted human being. We are hoping to have Dan as Sydney's violin teacher for many years to come. Barbara Sydney's mom"
I can't say enough good things about Marvett. My daughter was struggling and miserable with the violin and Marvett changed everything.
She has a wonderful demeanor and is so patient. Now my daughter is enjoying the violin for the first time. I highly recommend her."
"My daughter, Katie, started her first violin lessons this year with Lisa. I wasn't sure if she was going to enjoy playing the violin as she is only 6 yrs
old and pretty lively (hard to keep her still!), but Katie loved Lisa from the start. Lisa is friendly, patient, and easy going with Katie. Within a couple of months, Katie was already practicing her second song and sight reading her music. Lisa is a great violin teacher!"
"She is good with children. Could be a little stricter. But she is decicated and always on time. :-)"
"I have played clarinet going up but fullfilling New Year’s resolution to learn how to play the violin. I have had two lessons so far and Evan is the perfe
ct teacher. As a beginner, he is very patient and supportive. I feel inspired and want to continue. I appreciate Take Lessons for connecting me with Evan. Thanks!"
"I couldn't have asked for a better teacher. She is so patient and her excitement matches my own. Unfortunately, I won't be able to continue after my last
lesson. I would recommend her to anyone!"
"My daughter is enjoying her beginner-level lessons with Miss Naomi very much. Miss Naomi is encouraging her to learn and play and develop her technique in
class and at home during practice sessions. I was very pleased with my daughter's progress during our initial 5 lessons. We're planning to continue lessons with enthusiasm and appreciation for Miss Naomi's teaching skills and professionalism."
