Maria is a wonderful teacher! She has a great personality and a quirky sense of humor that makes her personable and approachable. She works a lot on technique, specifically focusing on the breath. I recommend Maria because she a professional who finds the joy and love in teaching.

Maria is a joy to work with; I highly recommend taking her voice class! She creates an easygoing, fun, and instructive session that helps you understand methods for improving your vocal performance. I've had teachers in the past that simply worked with me on songs and "stage presence," however this is the first experience I've had where I'm confident that the lessons (posture, breathing, vocalizing, etc) will continue to transform my voice over time. Her fundamentals basically re-trained my voice and the impact was both immediate and long-lasting. I've recommended her to other family members and I believe they are also having similar positive experiences! If singing is your passion and you want to improve through a professional and pleasant experience - this is money well spent!

Jorge C.

Metairie, LA

About Jorge

Bass/Guitar instructor w/ 15 years of teaching experience and previous member of a national touring band. Students who study with me will learn the basics behind playing music and how to set and accomplish personal goals in addition to learning how to play in a band while putting their musical knowledge to use. *** Lesson Details *** I'm a fairly laid back instructor, however I am meticulous about the student getting the exercise correct and assimilating the info. I use a progressive curriculum starting from the basics and going to the advanced. After 3-6 months of study with me, guitarists will be able to compose their own songs and will have learned basic soloing methods. Bass students will be able to compose simple walking lines over basic chord changes and have a good ...

Pleased

Frankie is a very shy kid and doesn't warm up to many. He loves his lessons with Jorge and can't wait to go back to the next one. Frankie doesn't want to just learn how to play the guitar he also wanted to learn how to compose music. He is very pleased with what Jorge is teaching him and will continue to teach him.

Sam C.

New Orleans, LA

About Sam

Since 2004 I have dedicated both my undergraduate (Parkland College, Illinois State University, Bradley University) and graduate (Southern Illinois University) studies to music performance and pedagogy, focusing on classical guitar. The majority of my teaching experience comes from a three-year Graduate Assistantship that I held while at Southern Illinois University, which included teaching the guitar to music and non-music majors in group and private settings. Outside of my responsibilities as a Graduate Assistant, I taught the guitar to children in group and private settings, and served as a juror for student guitar performances at both grade school and college levels. As a performer, I have experience as both a soloist and a chamber musician. These experiences have provided me with ...

I am an older player and have studied with several teachers.
I have found Sam to be an insightful, attentive and generous instructor.
He listens very (and that is emphasized) carefully and offers clear, distinct and well considered advice on phrasing, musicality and presentation.
I treasure his objective instruction.
In my opinion Sam is a great teacher and should think anyone could benefit from his guidance

Great first lesson! Sam began at the beginning. I felt more comfortable after my lesson that I could learn the techniques that are required to play the guitar. Sam speaks softly, takes his time and he is very encouraging.
