You seriously just hit the jackpot when your taken under Vivien's wing. Besides being a great singer,
Having studied with her I've managed to do things I never thought were even possible. A girl who was afraid of singing in front of even one person ends up being able to sing in front of live audiences!!! Before I met Vivien, I had NEVER done that. Besides teaching me many amazing techniques about singing, she also helped me improve the range and tone of my voice. She also watches your tongue⦠And I mean that! First thing she noticed when I started my first session with her was my tongue doing who knows what (HAHA!) She makes sure parts like your tongue and jaw are relaxed and she incorporates exercises to help release any tension one may be holding. Her singing technique also incorporates the importance of ones well-being in order to reach their full vocal potential, which is something that particularly helped me.
I have gained so much more confidence thanks to her in both my singing and just life in general. I am truly grateful for having worked with her and would definitely, without a doubt, recommend her to anyone. Her talent, skills, support, and genuine-kind-loving heart is sure to help anyone grow and reach their full potential."

I currently perform over fifty concerts a year with the Asylum Quartet, an award-winning ensemble acclaimed for virtuosity, creativity, and innovation. I hold a Master's in Music from The Hartt School and a Bachelor of Music summa cum laude from Arizona St
I have eight years of private teaching experience working with students of all ages and backgrounds. Additionally, I completed a ten-week private teaching mentorship at the Hartt Community Division with saxophone instructor Sheri Brown.
Though I specialize in saxophone, I also love teaching beginning and intermediate piano.
*** Lesson Scheduling***
I offer lessons on a monthly basis (4 lessons total) or semester basis (17 lessons total). Committing to multiple lessons encourages students’ progress and dedication to the instrument, and enables me to reserve a regular time-slot in my schedule.
I do not accept students on a week-to-week basis.
Saxophone students must have an instrument in good repair and required accessories (reeds, mouthpiece, etc.). Piano students must have access to a tuned piano or a keyboard with touch-sensitivity. I am happy to recommend instrument and accessory brands; please check with me before a major purchase. Quality, working equipment is critical to students’ success.
I periodically request that students purchase books and other lesson materials.
IMPORTANT: If you are planning to buy a saxophone or mouthpiece, please consult with me first. Having a good quality saxophone and mouthpiece is essential to your success. There are a number of cheap saxophones and mouthpieces readily available, but they are often of poor quality. I can recommend options for your first saxophone or mouthpiece purchase that may be more expensive, but will help you succeed in the long term.

As a piano instructor, I believe in giving every student a foundation in classical music.. I enjoy teaching and playing Jazz and pop as well.

Music must be fun...always!
*** Lesson Details ***
My students see progress. I don't believe in cookie-cutter instruction. I take the time to learn a students individual comprehension of the musical language and their learning style. I also build a practice schedule that is realistic and creates growth. Music instruction should not feel like a burden, but should be joyful. It's a process I have respected. Whether you are 90 or 9, you can learn music, love music and feel its presence by playing an instrument or singing. My job is to communicate that joy and show you how you can do it for yourself.
Learning to master a musical instrument is a two way commitment and I will always give you my full effort as I love the results.
*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a digital upright piano for piano and vocal instruction.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide the lesson material and help students with purchasing the right method books.
*** Specialties ***
For beginning Piano-Intermediate, I have embraced the James Bastien series, as I believe it paces the young student and builds a foundation on a musical and pedagogical level.
Vocally, I follow a classical technique, but use that foundation as a basis to meet the goals of the singer for the style they want to achieve.

I received my Master of Music in Voice Performance from Texas State University, and my Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I have been teaching private voice lessons for eight years to students of all skill levels, genres and styles, ages, and musical goals. My teaching philosophy is to guide the student to finding his or her own voice in a healthy way. I focus on ease of singing, clarity, and musicianship. My students have been successful on stage, in competitions, and in auditions across the coun
I am currently earning a masters degree in viola performance at The Hartt School, with separate emphases in music theory, conducting, and strings pedagogy.
In the past year, I was a teaching artist at the Incredible Children's Art Network in Santa Barbara, where I was exposed to many teaching methods and techniques, among them the El Sistema method of strings pedagogy. I was also a musical mentor at Santa Barbara Strings, where I led string sectionals, and coached chamber music groups.
Teaching for me is a great opportunity to get to know a young artist, which in turn helps me

If you're looking to teach yourself to sing on key, it's important to remember that it has as much - if not more - to do with training your ear as it does with training your voice. And since we can't hear ourselves sing accurately, we need recording equipment or another trusted pair of ears to check our results. With the advent of smartphones and tablets, tools that will help you teach yourself to sing on key are now readily available alongside more traditional methods. Here are five methods yo … Read More
