Michael H. Dayton, OH

Beginner-rudimental, intermediate and advanced concert/orchestral and marching percussion, Beginner-professional drumset. I have been playing drums since 1990. Other than snare drum in marching band, I taught myself to play drum set through various media in the 1990's such as magazines, videos and much interaction with drum & bugle corps. I specialize in DCI style marching snare and have instructed drumlines from various Oho schools. In the late 1990's I studied jazz; big band and combo style. From 2000-2006 I was a drummer in three local rock bands, one of which performed and recorded extensively.

About Michael

My name is Mike and I operate out of the Dayton, OH area. I have 11 years experience teaching music in public schools and would love to have you study with me. I am a percussionist by nature, and that's where my expertise lies, but I am able to help out beginning to intermediate guitarists and pianists. I believe strongly in crafting well-rounded students and would love to have the opportunity to work with you. *** Lesson Details *** I'm pretty laid back but I expect dedication to the craft. Outside practice is essential, but it doesn't have to be overwhelming. Music is to be enjoyed and so should the learning process. In the end, I'm all about helping the student reach his or her personal goals and will structure the lessons to guarantee success with that. *** Studio Equipment ...

David P. Cincinnati, OH

For drums, students will learn rhythm, rudiments, beats, and fills. I use a couple of Rick Latham's drum workbooks, and a couple of Ted Reed's workbooks among others. For beginner's I have eighteen lessons I've designed to get started.

About David

David P. began formal training with St. Elizabeth’s church organist on piano at age eight.  His older brothers and sisters taught him how to play guitar at home, and at school he was a featured vocal soloist at concert performances.  During his high school years, he began playing drums and singing at shows around the greater Cincinnati area.  While attending Xavier University, David continued to play in several groups.  He performed with the Xavier University Choir for four years under the direction of conductor and music department chair Helmut Roerig.  David performed with the Xavier University Percussion Ensemble and studied drums with John Gardner of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra for four years.  He studied voice with Harriet Beebe and piano with Rebecca Slater among ...

Terrific Teacher

He is a stupendous teacher. He makes his students feel comfortable, which is essential for optimal performance, without being excessively lax. The diaphragmatic breathing technique he began our first lesson with has proven to be incredibly valuable in signing and in my life in general.

Has a gifted teaching ability

David has been an excellent teacher for my young children. He is patient, encouraging, and has a good teaching method. My children made good progress and although they were skeptical about taking lessons, once they had a lesson with David, they continued to come back and made very good progress.

David is an incredible teacher and mentor. I recommend him without any reservations.

David is not only gifted at building your talent and ability - he will help you build your confidence. I took weekly singing lessons with David, starting with no experience at all, and he took me to a place I never thought I could be. Lessons are relaxed, efficient, and directed at your own pace, and David has a way of making you very comfortable with his patient, kind demeanor. He is a diamond in the rough, and easily worth 2x the money.

I have nothing but great things to say about Zak N., my daughter's instructor - he is SUPER with her and has given her confidence and the self-esteem she lacked before. I would refer family/friends and others to him in a heartbeat!!! He is the BEST!!!

Zak has gone so far out of his way to accommodate us. He has taken my daughter under his wing, insisting that she surpasses him in his expertise and spends 4 times the amount of time he is getting paid for, just to increase her skills and confidence. This is all while he attends two different colleges on a full-time basis!!! He is simply amazing, and incredibly talented!

I can teach anywhere from beginners to advanced students on keyboard and timpani, beginner to intermediate on snare drum, general percussion, and drum set.

Kerry K. Dayton, OH

I've been teaching Drums since 2004 and recently started back January 2013. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to play all rudiments and as time goes on you'll be able to play in bands and in JH and HS bands. I typically use the Haskell Harr, and now include Alfred's Drum Method book for Snare; Tommy Igo for drum-set. His posters from Vic Firth are great resources. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels; I can't wait to meet you!

Kerry attended Wright State University for two (2) years, and then transferred to Belmont University to receive a Bachelors of Music in Percussion Performance. He also holds a Masters of Music from Eastern Kentucky University. He also studied at the Eastman School of Music to learn Creative Music Making and African drum studies. Lastly, he attended the University of Dayton for Percussion, Music Technology, & World music, and the Samba school in Salvador/Rio, Brazil for Samba studies. Kerry has been performing since 1984 for theatre shows, bands for rock, jazz, R & B, Circus’ (Great Wallendas), swing bands, American Entertainment Productions show band (One year), and performed with Holland America Cruise Line for three (3) years. Kerry certainly has the experience, both in teaching and performing. When someone like Kerry teaches, he brings both his knowledge from his degrees, and his experience from performing. Working with Kerry, I know for a fact that not only is he talented, but he is professional all the way, and takes his work very seriously. You will not be disappointed if you choose to hire Kerry!

Kerry has given private percussion lessons to my 12 year old daughter for 8 months. She enjoys lessons and I have seen improvements in her performance. Kerry has been communicative, professional, and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend his services.
Thank you.
