Hallie C.

Tampa, FL

About Hallie

Hello there! Do you or your loved ones have an interest in music? So do I! That is why I am here to teach and share my own passion for music. I love working with children and have two boys of my own. I love teaching music and instil passion for learning into every one of my students.

Having grown up in a musical family with my mother a professional violinist, I have been exposed to the joys of music since childhood. I learned how to play Suzuki piano at the age of three, and later percussion and string instruments from when I was six years old. In high school I joined the band playing flu
te. I loved playing flute and piccolo so much that I decided to take this as my career and went to Interlochen Arts Academy where I excelled in my performance. I later went to Prague Conservatory and Czech Budweiss Conservatory and played with the Prague Film Orchestra. Even more recently I have been a teacher for the Flutes and Strings classes at Unison World School in Dehradun, India.

I have had enjoyed having a very successful studio here in Tampa, and hope to enrich your life with music soon!

*** Lesson Details ***
My approach to teaching varies with the age level of each student. With younger students, imitation is often one of the best methods of learning and I prefer the Suzuki method for students up to age 8, especially with strings. For older children and adults, learning music notation and basic music theory for a full understanding of musical language are more important to get them to the level where they can learn any music that they want to play for fun. For students who wish to excel in their school band, a more practical approach with technique specific warm-ups and exercises seems to be the best in general.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lessons are taught in the living room which includes music stands, sheet music, whiteboard, video recording equipment and microphone, and seating for parents/students. No pets. Parking in driveway. Siblings are welcome.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide metronome, and tools for minor instrument repair. Students should provide their own music stands and sheet music.

*** Specialties ***
Suzuki method, Hrimaly, Taffanel et Gaubert, Patricia George

The very first lesson was awesome! My 5 yo was already excited to learn piano, but after her lesson she is even more psyched to go again! Lisa taught on her level, made it fun with age-appropriate games, and really tailored the lesson to my child. I don't remember piano lessons as a child being that fun. So far I highly recommend her!

Amy N.

Wesley Chapel, FL

About Amy

I had my first piano lesson when I was five years old. I performed my first piano solos for audiences at school events. I joined the keyboard team at church when I was thirteen years old. I quickly learned to improvise and accompany. It was exciting to discover that I could study piano in college. I earned my way by accompanying voice and instrument choirs, rehearsals, lessons, and recitals. I enjoy helping other people excel, so I chose a teaching degree over a performance degree.

In 1991, I graduated with my bachelor of music degree in piano pedagogy. I immediately began teaching p
rivate and group piano lessons, building my studio over fifteen years to reach nearly 600 students ages five to seventy-five. I accompanied community choirs, local vocal artists, and students performing on other instruments. I performed as a substitute for church choir directors and accompanists. I was employed as a music director and organist for seven years.

I achieved my Music K-12 professional teacher certification with the State of Florida in 2007. I teach elementary classroom music for the District School Board of Pasco County. I continue to perform as a professional accompanist and serve on the piano faculty at the Patel Conservatory at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa.

*** Lesson Details ***
I teach beginning students to read music. I teach students to play piano successfully. Reading music is a step-by-step process. I like to begin at the beginning. Using an age-appropriate All-in-One course from Alfred Publishing, we begin with the basic layout of the piano and learn to navigate the 88 keys. If you absorb and apply the information quickly, we move along quickly. If you need a little more time to sort it out, we take all the time you need.

My piano lessons are structured around the student's interests and abilities. Whether you are looking for a fun hobby or a place to launch your musical career, our time together will guide you to your goals. I am aware of physical and cognitive developmental stages and am able to present material in a suitable format for any student, adult or child.

*Special note to parents of children with unique needs: Piano lessons are a fantastic way to provide your child with focused one-on-one time while learning new skills. Playing the piano incorporates hand-eye-brain coordination, reinforces reading skills, provides opportunities for personal achievement, and teaches self-discipline through accountability. With my experience and training in Exceptional Student Education, I am able to personalize piano lessons for students with physical and cognitive challenges.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Living room w/ f/w keyboard and seating for parents

*** Travel Equipment ***
My students need to have at least a 50+key keyboard/piano in their home.

Alfredo is an amazing magicain. He thuroughly explains his routines and tricks and I am so happy I went with him rather than anybody else. I have had a magic tutor before, but Alfredo is by far the best. (Not to mention he sends videos of all of his routines and tricks). My future magic tutor will definitely be Alfredo.

Alfredo was my son's first choice for a magic lesson based solely on his profile picture, but he won me over when he cautioned me that he wanted to make sure it was a good fit before taking my money. I was impressed with his candor and because I knew I could get a refund if it didn't work out (thanks to a helpful TakeLessons customer service rep) we went forward with the lesson. And I'm glad we did! Joey learned a new skill in just a half hour and Alfredo is sending him further resources by email to make sure he gets the most out of his practice before the next lesson. I'm so impressed, and can't wait to see where he goes from here!
