Ladi S.

Jamaica, NY

About Ladi

I provide basic violin set, music stand and learning materials. I always expect from students to be able to get their own instrument.

Ladi S. (born on April 27, 1987) is a Czech/American violinist, DJ, performance artist and composer. Born into a musical family and a traditional culture teeming with music and dances, Ladi S., a Czech artist is taking his place on centerstage. He presents choreographed violin performances, live and in music found on his YouTube channel, which he introduced in 2006. He performs a variety of music styles, from classical music to trance.
Since 2008, Ladi has r
eleased a self-titled album, an EP, and several singles. Aside from original work, his discography contains covers of songs by other musicians and various soundtracks.
In 2008, Ladi moved to Long Island and began performing and teaching private lessons. Since 2011 Ladi performs also as a DJ, however the output result of his creations harvests from his early musical career as a young violinist, singer and band leader with classical music concerts across Europe. He gathered the best local musicians playing on traditional musical instruments and featured them in his classical arrangements of folklore music.
His talent became widely recognized already during his university studies of classical music and business in Prague, but the influence of diverse music cultures discovered by traveling enriched his musical abilities. Since 2008 he lives in New York.

Shannon F.

Richmond Hill, NY

About Shannon

Music has been a passion of mine since I started music lessons at the age of 6. I founded and directed the Suffolk Chamber Orchestra in high school which performed in weddings, graduations, and outreach community venues such as nursing homes which is just one example of how learning an instrument can be a great way to get connected with your community and reach out to other people!

Music has really broadened my horizons, giving me opportunities to travel to different countries. In 2006 I toured as the soloist performer in the LIYO Asia tour where we performed in China, Singapore, Thailand,
Vietnam, Malaysia, and Cambodia. I also have a passion for performing in theatre. I have performed in Faust which ranked in the top three in the nation by the National Opera Association. I also enjoyed performing with the Metropolitan Opera’s Opera in a Nutshell performance of La Boheme and Tosca. The highlighted of my performing career was playing in Avery Fischer Hall in Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.

At an early age I decided I really loved teaching the violin. I have eight years of experience teaching and have immensely enjoyed teaching each and every one of my students. I decided to devote my college education to studying violin teaching methods and received my degree in String Pedagogy-Violin Principle. I taught the High School/Middle School Prep students at the college and also taught at the Bob Jones Elementary School. My students have ranked in the top 3 in their school competition and 1st chair in orchestra. Currently, I am part of the Starling-Delay Symposium at the Julliard School where I have attended master classes by great pedagogues/performers such as Itzhak Perlman and Ani Kavafian. I hope to install everything I have learned in my students and share the joy of music with my students so they can share it with others!

*** Lesson Details ***
I cater my teaching to the student's needs and goals. If I have a students who is retired and just wants to learn the violin as a fun hobby I will be more laid back with that student versus a student that comes to me with a desire to make music his or her career. I have had experience with both. I have prepared students for competitions as well as taught a cute retired couple to play duets together!

*** Specialties ***
Classical but open to teaching other styles and genres as well.

I am in my 60's and all my life I've wanted to play guitar. Lou has made that dream come true for me. It's been only a year of taking lessons with Lou and I am already playing many of my favorite songs. I remember at the beginning when I doubted if I would ever really play a song and Lou kept telling me "you will be playing sooner that you think". Then it all started coming together and I now play with my friends and I can't express how thankful I am for Lou's teaching style which has allowed me to learn chords, rhythm patterns, songs and even finger picking. It don't get any better than this.

My son and I have been taking guitar lessons from Lou for two years now and at the beginning we didn't know anything about playing guitar. Now, we know over two dozen of our favorite songs, chords, rhythm patterns and he's presently teaching us about finger picking. He has not only made my son and I learn how to play guitar but has given me another opportunity to enjoy doing something with my son and all of this adds up to an outstanding teaching job by Lou.

I started taking guitar lessons at the age of 13 from Lou. When I first began my lessons I never imagined I'd be able to play like I can now. Now I am 16 and completed three years of lessons and I enjoyed all 3 years. Each year I found I progressed more and more and that's all thanks to Lou's teaching style. He is an amazing instructor. My favorite artist is Taylor Swift. He taught me how to play so many of her songs I lost count. I feel I am ready to advance in music theory and playing if I want to continue my guitar studies in college. I highly recommend him.

Greg has been the keyboard player in my classic rock band since 2008 and has proven to be an extremely valuable member for his participation in the band's direction and rehearsing, particularly in coaching our vocal ensemble which consists of up to seven-part harmonies. The material we cover is generally more complex and requires a high level of musicianship and technical ability for which he was immediately qualified, even as an undergraduate seven years ago.
As a former member of both the New Britain and Hartford Symphony Orchestras, I can also speak for Greg's mastery of fine music and its demands for oftimes difficult technical capability and exacting musicianship.

Greg has been an accompanist/organist for my choir at St. George Catholic Church (Guilford) for the past three years. I have only wonderful comments to express for this exceptional gentleman and musician. Please consider instruction with him as he will offer a great, musical experience to a prospective student.
