Marissa S.

Woonsocket, RI

About Marissa

I am a recent graduate of Rhode Island College with a degree in both Music and Musical Theatre. With my music degree, I strongly focused on musical theatre pedagogy as well as classical music. I also trained extensively in dance and acting which I believe has helped me tremendously when teaching voice. I also have studied piano for the past 10 years and continue to train in voice. My approach to teaching, whether it be voice or piano, is one with care and concern for the student. Each student is an individual and will take in knowledge in different ways. I always like to cater my teaching to whatever the students needs are. This requires observation and experimentation on my part. When I find what works, it makes for a more productive lesson for my student and I. In voice, I have a ...

Excellent Teacher for my 6 year old Son

Marissa is a terrific piano teacher. She has tons of patience and a great way of connecting with my son. He is a 6 year old boy who is very active and she is able to hold his attention and keep him interested in piano. It has been incredible watching his skill and confidence levels grow after each visit with Marissa. I would highly recommend Marissa to anyone with a young child who wants to learn piano.

Karm A.

Mattapan, MA

I have been teaching for 4 years.
Work with me and I will help you develop your musical hearing, your rhythm, your sense of self and the true artist hidden inside of you. I don't believe in "I can't" if someone like you can do it, so can you with practice, the right tools and dedication.

I teach using techniques from great dancers, Lester Horton, Marta Graham, Asadata Dafora etc..., connecting musically and emotionally.
my philosophy? Dance is my religion

About Karm

Hello My name is Karm and I am so excited to start that new adventure with you. I have been teaching performing arts for 4 years, I believe in connecting with performance of any type (acting, dancing) once that connection is established you become the art. Expressing emotions and sense of self is what I encourage. I Started dancing as soon as I could walk considering my family was into the arts. I studied dance first in Haiti at Joelle Donatien belot dance school. Later when I moved to the United States, I continued my training at Pine Manor College where I earned a minor in dance. At that time I also joined Dance Ensemble which was a student professional dance team. Today I owned KS Dance studio where I teach classes to all ages. I continue my training every week at the Boston ...

Gina M.

Dorchester Center, MA

I mainly teach hip-hop and contemporary (all levels) but I can also help any student with whatever dance style they want to learn. Even if I'm an expert in another dance style, I can still give advice that will help them. I always start with a 15-20 warm-up that consist of full body exercises and lots of stretching. Besides teaching choreography, we will learn about facials, emotions, and texture. We will be learning more than just moves, but moves that help us with our life and its experiences.

About Gina

Hello, my name is Gina and I am an undergraduate student at the University of Massachusetts-Boston. I am a English major with a concentration in Professional Writing. My interests lie in dancing and writing. I would like to incorporate these arts together and have an amazing career with as many opportunities as possible to help people and inspire the youth through my talents and experiences. I hope to learn as much as I can as I go through these steps of life and perpetually keep on helping others along the way.
