About Alexander
My name is Alex, and my passion is teaching music. I offer clients a unique learning experience with customized lesson plans and personalized attention to fit your exact goals and needs. These aren’t just words to me…they are a commitment I make to everyone that I have the pleasure of working with.

Here’s who I am…

I earned a Bachelor's of Music from Berklee College of Music where I studied Bass Performance and Composition. I have years of experience playing upright and electric bass in many styles such as rock, jazz, orchestral, and big band. I’ve studied a variety of instruments over the last 20 years including guitar, bass, drums, ukulele, and piano.

Here’s what I can do for you…

I will give you my full attention and unyielding patience with each and every lesson. Together we will explore the principals of music that
will enable you to learn to play in any style you choose to study. Ultimately my job is not to teach you to play, but to show you how to teach yourself. I will arm you with a thorough understanding of technique and theory.

I love working with kids and adults. I love brand new players with no experience as well as seasoned players who just want to fill in some gaps in their knowledge. Whatever your age, and wherever you’re at with your playing, I hope you will give me the chance to help you have more fun and confidence in music.

Every player I work with gets access to a personal online Lesson Journal where you can see my notes from our lessons, do homework from your “Stuff to work on” lists, and access my entire digital library! Every lesson is designed just for you.

Let’s get started…

You can take lessons at my studio, in your home, or online via Skype.

For lessons in my studio, I can provide instruments and amplifiers for both of us.

There is ample seating for parents to sit in on lessons. Parking is available in the driveway.

You’re going to love your lessons!
-Alex

About Sachie
Born to an award winning conductor and music teacher, I was exposed to music at a very early age. With my father’s supervision, I began my piano and ear-training at the age of three. At age four, I joined the Yamaha musical after-school program and engaged in group lessons. As I got older, group lessons gave way to private instruction as I learned and played piano passionately through my childhood.

I was born and raised in Hiroshima, Japan and left my native land in 2006 to the United States to better my education. In school I studied general music, with an emphasis on piano. Additionally, I have also studied Early Childhood Development and Education.

*** Lesson Details ***
I tailor my lessons depending on the age and experience level of my students, but in general I believe in the Suzuki method as one of the tools for first steps
. The Suzuki method is a very well established philosophy of learning that focuses on ear and practical training. By training ear and musicality while learning proper finger position, the child improves without spending too much time at the start learning note reading.
As the child quickly progresses I music theory and reading follow.

I am a passionate teacher and believe in the musical potential of all students. I am eager to work your child to help unlock their abilities and motivation. It is my view that communication is a two-way road and it is excited to provide instruction while properly communicating with her students. Through this, I can overcome each individual’s obstacles and also enhance their inner strengths. With the right instruction, developing the right motivation, and of course practice, she feels every student has the potential for great success.

About Rebecca
I have been teaching piano for over 18 years. I played piano and keyboards in a band for several years, and I have been playing piano and singing at church for over nine years. I can help you learn the proper technique and musical skills for any kind of playing in the future, with more advanced teaching for classical piano. I can also teach chord playing for students that want to quickly learn their favorite songs. I'll even help you learn how to sing along!

*** Lesson Details ***
I have a lot of fun at my lessons, but I emphasize the importance of practice. For beginning students, I like to use the Alfred's Basic Piano Library (that teaches piano playing and note reading), which I supplement with fun games, history projects and music journal topics to ensure my students get a well-rounded music education while enjoying what they
are doing. I also host a yearly recital (which is also for online students) so my students will all get a chance to show off their skills! I create a custom curriculum for my more advanced students.

*** Equipment/Books ***
I will supply the curriculum for local students at their cost. I choose the curriculum for online students to order on the Internet. The student must have a suitable keyboard or piano.

I teach the Moeller Method. This is a system of technique which involves three basic wrist motions. The basics can be taught in one lesson, but the application takes a lifetime. I also teach all popular styles of contemporary drum set, such as rock, jazz, funk, r&b, and many different Latin styles. I work with students on reading both on snare drum and drum set and also get them playing along and transcribing with recordings of whatever style of music is of interest to them.

About Melanie
Hi!
I have been playing piano for 18 years and am excited to share the passion with others!

Music has been a special part of my life since I was 4 years old. I took lessons for 10 years and continued to play in college for the Naval Academy Women's Glee Club as the accompanist. While with the Glee Club, I had the opportunity and honor to sing for two Presidents and play piano for one, and sing with Beyonce as part of Obama's Inauguration Celebration.

I specialize in teaching children as I put a great emphasis on fun! I want students to have joy playing before it gets difficult in order to encourage them to play longer. Part of that is I encourage learning songs that they are interested in tandem with the course so they continue to love what they play.

I'd love to meet you and share my love with you.

We were very sad to learn she was moving (but understood wanting to be closer to family). If you're lucky enough to have her near you, don't hesitate!

I have been teaching trombone privately for 7 years. I love teaching, especially building confidence and a sense of pride in the skills which my students attain. I work towards also being able to impart the true end goal, a lifetime of musical enjoyment.
I am living in Olympia, studying at The Evergreen State College during the school months and in Seattle over summer and over breaks. Feel free to request a lesson if you're unsure of my availability. I'm happy to clarify!
I perform in any place and setting I can get my hands on. In small combos, in medium ensembles and in big bands, as a back-up for vocalists and miscellaneous. I love engaging an audience, a skill I have used also performing and hosting with an improv troupe for more than 3 years.

Music has so much power, impact and emotion inside of it. My goal is to get you to a place where you are confident, precise and strategic in your vocal delivery. I want to get you to a place where people not only hear your voice but feel the emotion or message in your song. I am an expert in delivery, you can have a beautiful voice, but if there is no vocal dynamics, your song can flatline. Let's have fun and explore the potential of your voice.

I have been vocal coaching for the last 4 years and it has been fun showing people how to utilize their vocal "tool box." There are many ways to sing, so we find the genre that suits you and get to work on how to get better.

I've been a worship leader at my church for the past few years and before that I've done community musical projects. The best part of being a coach is watching my studen
ts become confident and eager to soar!

Are you ready to take it up a notch? Let's do this!

About Kronik
I go by the name Kronik J as a rap artist.
Some of my personal goals are: to create a new music genre; to create new forms of rap and make them more complex & detailed to an impressive (first time I heard hit song feel every time); and of course figure out all of the formulas that make the arts pleasurable in form.

I will teach you, breath control, delivery, wordplay, practice techniques writing techniques, catchiness, working out & producing word, following, will cover the mechanics & formulas of all genres and how to never succeed (because we aim to fail) because this musical aim is to get rid of the shortlived shelf life & the view of a permanently unpolished artform. Lyricism is going to be the main key. My lessons will be custom fitted, so both of us are gonna have fun and learn alot. I will never be textbook about anything, and I
also have a firm stance toward certain things, so you want to learn from someone who already has seen and tried everything out, I have. I've performed, I've ghostwritten, and I've freestyled & written about 3-4 hrs every day for the past 15 years of my life and feel I've "Beaten" rap, but there is so much to discover from that. Let's do something amazing.
