About Deron
I am a San Diego native and have shown my paintings extensively throughout San Diego. It wasn't until several years after I graduated from UCLA in 1994 with a Bachelors in Fine Arts, that I really tried to show my work in galleries. Most recently, my work has been in shows at Project X Gallery, The Museum of the Living Artist, The San Diego Art Department, Sanctuary Gallery, Limbo Fine Arts, and Sushi Gallery. I have just started to show in other cities, most recently at the Rialto Theater in Corpus Christi, Texas and The Nico Gallery in Seattle, Washington.

Along with my painting career, I have created children’s book and magazine illustrations, done graphic design work, and taught others how to express themselves creatively through art. I have been creating curricula for children’s art programs and teaching them. I also have been te
aching adults how to paint at the San Diego Art Department for the past 10 years and, in the past two years, with Painting &Vino.

Through my decade of teaching painting, I have honed a teaching style that encourages students to balance creativity and imagination with technique and skill. I strive to help students discover a process in which they are able to express themselves creatively while also teaching paint application techniques, color theory and the Elements and Principles of design. I am often in front of 50+ people at a time presenting my painting techniques within a limited amount of time.

I look forward to coaching you whether you're someone who hasn't painted since you were a kid or you're a seasoned painter who just needs a little help, encouragement or direction.

*** Lesson Details ***

-Advice for Artists with Works-In-Process

I am happy to teach a student anything s/he wants to explore within the realm of painting.

While Deron is extremely knowledgeable. ...drawing / sketching is new and I felt that too much was given to me as a beginner in such a short (two hours) span of time. I'm sure after a few more lessons I'll feel more adequate for the task!

It is hard to get a lot out of a lesson doing it remotely. And in one hour! She was wonderful but I think I would like to try lessons either in a group setting or individual face to face. That way she could help me correct mistakes as I go.

About Jason
My educational background is in journalism with a minor in English and I've always been enamored with the literary and visual arts. I published my first book featuring poetry along with photography in 2006 and have since written four more.

My photography has been published in several magazine as well including the following:

Fahrenheit USA – Nov. 2015
My Belleza Inc. – April 2016
Tres Jolie – May 2016

In 2007, I started the business called Three Rivers Creative Arts providing creative service including photography, writing, editing and graphic design.

As a person who likes the opportunity to help others and to work with all of these types of areas, I thought that a great website like this one here at TakeLessons could allow me to do both.

Please check out my work on my official website at www.3riverscreative.com and thi
s page for links to sample work http://3riverscreative.com/more-info/.

Contact me first before booking an appointment as that my availability is sporadic.

Jason seemed very knowledgeable about website creation in general, and using WordPress in particular. He was quite helpful by introducing me to the basics of configuring my website, pointing out some "must-dos", and suggesting key things to keep in mind as I proceed with my blog/website. I certainly intend to rely on his expertise again in the near future.

About Sandra
If you just want to learn software programs, go elsewhere. But if you want to learn to SEE and become a true photographer, Sandra is the person to work with. Although software is certainly part of the discussion, software and cameras don't make pictures – you, your eye, and your experience are what make your pictures different and interesting.

And every person's path toward becoming a better photographer is unique. Sandra has helped hundreds and hundreds of professional (and amateur) photographers significantly improve their photography and their enjoyment of it. Working with her, results are quick. You will get far more out each session with Sandra than from a dozen sessions with others and you will learn more about yourself and your potential. Just bring your questions and we start from where you are.

Sandra is an internationally
respected picture editor and designer with unique experience that runs from contributions to scores of visual books and White House staff service to work on major newspapers, and the Associated Press. She was instrumental in creation of the original ground-breaking news site MSNBC as well as spearheading creation of the Defense Department's public web program. She has taught at three universities and at workshops all over the U.S. But Sandra is still easy to talk to and interested in YOUR concerns and pictures.

Sandra's key skill may be her ability to articulate visual concepts and issues, to find and convey the underlying currents and needs in a photographers work and then help him/her find the personal, unique route to reaching his/her potential.

Always fully honest, Sandra is also fully supportive of helping any photographer, from beginner to seasoned professional, become better, see more, and understand their own work on new levels. Sandra can certainly help with technical matters but her special forte is in helping photographers and designers see in new ways. She has worked with documentary, landscape, fine art, portrait and other photographers as well as designers and web site builders. Group sessions can also be arranged on request for additional fees.

About Christopher
My strengths and skills lie in my work ethic. I teach with the same passion regardless of the pupil, but a completely unique style depending on how the student responds. I have been teaching software since I was very young, it has always just come intuitively to me. That being said, there are infinite learning styles, everyone's brain chemistry is a little bit different, so I adapt accordingly. A lot of this software and technical knowledge is difficult and tedious, and there are often many different means to the same end, but my teaching style is thorough and simplistic, and I will always explain things in a way that is cohesive to the student's learning process.

I have worked with Chris on a number of photo editing projects and I have been guided through the process with ease. He has done professional product photo shoots for my business and edited images prior to posting to an e-commerce website and has the eye, layout and technical ability to produce stellar results. When I am in need of direction on how to get the most out of images I use for print or online applications, he is my "go to" person for guidance.

About David
I'm an animation student at The Art Institute of Seattle, working toward a specialty in concept art, which means a huge amount of drawing, redrawing, and of an enormous variety of objects settings, and characters! I take a technical approach, combined with an expressive style, and like to "feel" a picture instead of just see it. Using a mechanical basis, we can use this as a launch pad for your style and knowledge goals.

I began a concerted effort in drawing on my own at 9 years old, long before the imposition of art theory and philosophies. I've tried to preserve that unconfined imagination and let it drive my professional work, not the other way around. I can show you aspects of form, figure, and rendering your shape, but only as a tool for remix and refashioning into your own style and signature.

I take great inspiration from o
ther artists such as Chris Sheridan, Pat Moriarity, and Edward Gorey, striving toward a mix of realism and surrealism, dark and bright, and a sort of "mental texture" that makes images and ideas come alive. In addition to artist, I consider myself a translator of sorts -- helping you get your imagination out into a finished product!

xxxxxxxx(Because of some scheduling conflicts, please feel free to contact me and ask me about availability. My availability will be opening up further in the future, and I'd love to communicate regarding what works best for you.

( This also applies to any questions you may have regarding lack of TakeLessons background check. I am teaching because of lack of funds, so please let me know if there's anything I can do to make you more comfortable!)
