MUSIC INSTRUCTION AND ENJOYMENT OFFERED. Very enthusiastic and experienced musician available for instruction offering the following:
# In-depth written music theory coupled with an equivalent of ear training and tone recognition
# Introduction to performance skills with instruments that include:
Guitar - electric & acoustic Drum Kit and percussion rhythms Piano/Keyboard
# Group lessons or private instruction, depending on personal preferences and age groups
Personal experience includes:
1) 15 years of GUITAR: professional performance and composition. Styles include rock, folk, blues, chord progressions, and alternate tuning.
2) 15 years of DRUMS and PERCUSSION: Latin, swing, blues, as well as rock, funk, punk, and reduced to
p forty beats.
3) 15 years of PIANO: which utilize several years of personal instruction in classical, popular, and some ragtime, in addition to an intimate knowledge of Piano Proficiency (scales & modes, chord structures & inversions, common chord progressions, intervals, circle of 5th, and finger exercises)
4) 2 years of MUSIC THEORY and COMPOSITION at college level.
Lessons will include additional materials to the primary instrument such as sheet music for sight reading, rhythm patterns, tabletures, and chord charts.
***Above all, I encourage students to select those pieces, tunes, or songs that have appealed to them the most; perhaps even inspiring them to learn a musical instrument in the first place. Adaptations are a common and enjoyable part of the teaching process.
*** Lesson Details *** Expect efforts, on my part, to steer learning into areas of the students particular interest as well as conventional genres such as classical, popular, folk, blues, etc...
Moreover, I rely on ear training as a strong complement to written music theory and sight-reading; often using recorded music samples or simple patterns on a piano.
I try to balance method-type published lesson books with beginner, intermediate, or original composition sheet music to specifically selected pieces.
Ideally, with a reasonable practice schedule each week, full comprehension of the written music grand staff and an ear to catch a false note will become second nature. By then, more opportunities to learn actual pieces and styles become greater, having got the initial learning curve under the students belt.
*** Studio Equipment *** *snare drum *electronic keyboard/piano
*** Travel Equipment *** lesson material/music media samples can be provided for copy student would have own instrument
*** Specialties *** Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Piano, Drums, Percussion, Music Theory finger picking styles and chord progressions - guitar lead and rhythm patterns - electric guitar latin, blues, rock, jazz styles - drum kit & percussion classical & popular tunes - piano/keyboard
I'm into my second month of weekly guitar lessons with Brett and can't believe how well I am playing already!! I've had some basic guitar lessons in the past but still very much a beginner. Brett knew precisely where to start and what I needed next to advance my playing, and broke it down into attainable steps. So far I've learned a good handful of strum patterns; I can finally play two songs pretty well and sing along; and I am in the rudimentary stage of learning to finger pick. Really love the fact that beautiful sounds are coming from my instrument! Highly recommend if you're ready to make the commitment to becoming a capable player.

What a terrible experience. I signed up for lessons for my wife from Brett as a gift because he listed times that would work for my wife given that we have a young daughter, and have a hard time making time for lessons. Brett told us 3 days before the lesson that the time wouldn't work, then simply never showed for the rescheduled first lesson. Worse, he simply refused to do scheduling via email (he would leave voicemails and failed to return my wife's call when she called back as they were playing phone tag), and then told us he had another commitment during the slot we had supposedly reserved for him. Worse, he failed to update the site as he continually cancelled lessons and never showed up for scheduled times. I now have a huge hassle of getting a refund on the money I paid for lessons as opposed to a lovely gift for my wife. Life's too short and we're too busy for such an awful experience.

Great teacher for my young daughter
Brett has been a great teacher for my 5 year old daughter. She is just learning the basics of piano and Brett has been great at expanding her skill sets. She really enjoys practicing with him and actually looks forward to when he comes over every week!
I can teach you the basics of congas, bongoes and timbales. How to play with the Clave and how to incorporate the tambourine, shakers and other fun instruments.
Hi there! I'm Xavier V. from Bogota, Colombia living in sunny Miami since 2008. I'm bilingual English/Spanish, proficient in French and learning Romanian. I graduated with the highest honors in Music Business from Miami Dade College in 2015, I've been working in broadcast media since after school and now working with ESPN in Coral Gables, FL.
I'm focused, patient, enthusiastic and very active! "Schedule a lesson with me now and start either speaking in Spanish or playing Drums from day 1!."
** Drum prospects read below ***
I've been playing drums since 2000. First I studied drums in Colombia with Shakira's former drummer Italo Lamboglia for 4 years and then when I moved here in US, I've kept refining my craft taking drum lessons at Miami Dade College, learning new techniques and so on.
I'm currently an independent drummer. I
play with many artists and bands as a freelancer, So I get to perform very often live in different venues all over South Florida. I also freelance at different T.V. Networks as a background drummer and percussionist for artists promoting their songs on TV shows. I have won drum contests and competitions on stores and online as well. I have recorded various records and singles with major producers and performed in different countries as a hired gun.
I've been teaching and sharing my knowledge in drums with others since I first started playing drums! I'm a believer that the more you share, the more you learn, and overtime I've realized that the process never stops. At first I was a drum instructor at a local church in Colombia. I had 10 - 20 students in a single classroom -- It was a great experience! Then when I came to the U.S. I've been mainly instructing privately, so I have plenty of experience.
Schedule a lesson with me now and start learning the art of playing drums. I am looking forward to meeting new and eager students who really want to bring their inner music out to share with the rest of us and develop their skills to the peak of their abilities. After all, you might be the next music prodigy, but perhaps you don't know it yet! See you soon!
*** Studio Equipment *** living room: electric drum set, additional seating for parents.

It's no secret, percussion is the backbone or "foundation" to any hit song.
I break down percussion to its most basic rudiments so that you will grow by leaps and bounds instead of just crawling along.

You got to know the rules 1st, before you can then break the rules. This is how you develop your own unique style. And it's what separates the Pro Players from the rest of the pack.
But even if you don't want to play professionally, maybe you just want to learn a few chords, licks, songs, for yourself, or to impress friends. That's okay too!
I welcome every level and style. I always learn something from my students. That's what music is all about. Learning & trading tips and licks from other musicians.
Bottom Line Is... I can help you learn and progress on your instrument faster...

My Unique Specialty - is teaching students the rudimental basics 1st, & then how to copy your favorite artists off the CD, radio or iPod, almost note for note. Believe me, it can be done. You just have to know what to listen for..
Brand New - MEASURE your success by recording your music progress along the way. I do own a recording studio, so we can record students progress via audio or video and then post to my You Tube channel.
I can help students who are wanting to be in marching band and symphonic/orchestra. I have hand drums and various auxiliary percussion instruments, including tambourines, triangle, shakers, maracas, claves, a cabasa, etc. I also have a xylophone for students who want to learn mallet instruments, and I am well familiar with both the Burton and Stevens grips. I can help those who are wishing to compete in band contests, as well.
I have been playing the drum set in various bands since 2001. I have also been playing with the OKC Community Orchestra since 2009. I have played in symphonic and jazz bands and a percussion ensemble. I have taught a percussion class, private lessons, and I have been a full time music teacher in the OKC district. I have recorded in the studio also, and I enjoy doing a bit of my own production. Rocking on stage is my favorite activity! I can teach you how to be an integral part of a band and play along to your favorites. I enjoy bringing out the best in a student and teaching to his/her strengths. Let's run!
*** Lesson Details *** I am a very easygoing and patient teacher. I fully understand that the drum set requires a high level of coordination, and I am mindful of this while working with students. I will begin with proper gr
ip and stroke technique as well as the use of a metronome. I will teach the student to read rhythms and drum set notation. I know how to isolate difficult patterns, break them down into understandable parts, and reintegrate them into a piece. I like to use the music that a student enjoys to relate to the written music. I have found YouTube to be an indispensable tool for this, and my students have responded very well. I will work on snare drum technique as well, because it is the primary voice on the set, and the touch and nuance required to play it well relate to the set as well. I will tailor my instruction to suit the student's learning style and preferences. I want to make the learning fun, so I will help the student quickly gain the basic skills to play along with their favorite bands. This promotes musicality as well as solid time. It will also aid in transcription, which will come with development and is a valuable tool. I will use this in tandem with technique-building exercises to form a well rounded musician. I believe that a student should have a familiarity with his/her instrument, so we will also go over the anatomy and tuning of the set. Above all, music should be fun!
*** Studio Equipment *** Music room w/ drum set, hand drums, and seating for parents
*** Travel Equipment *** I have a practice pad, snare drum, and sticks. If a student wishes to have drum set lessons in his/her home, that instrument should be there. **Please note** I do have a drum set in my home.
*** Specialties *** For the drum set, I am the most experienced in rock, country, and bluegrass styles. I am comfortable with both Stevens and Burton grips for mallet instruments.

About: I'm a video game composer who loves working with students of any age and skill level, whether they are beginning music for the first time or have been a musician for years. Getting people started composing or playing piano and watching them discover that they have a lot to say through music, is such a joy of mine. I tailor each lesson to specifically fit the student’s skills and interests, making sure that they are not only progressing but enjoying the process of making music.
My students have gone on to record their music in the Netherlands, write a musical that was performed at their college, write a song for their middle school talent show, score a short film - and much more!
With me, students can learn: • Piano • Composition (any style: jazz, classical, pop – you name it, we can do it!) • Composing for film, T.V.
and video games • How to use music composition software (Logic, Digital Performer, Cubase, Studio One, Pro Tools, Ableton etc.) • Music theory • Songwriting • Music production • How to use music notation software (write out your parts, charts, lead sheets etc. so that others can play your original compositions) • Classical percussion techniques
Students can expect to have a lot of fun learning with me! We can write soundtracks, band pieces, solo pieces - whatever the student finds most interesting.
Lesson Schedule: I teach M-TH 9am-9pm and Fri/Sunday: 9am-4pm I suggest booking lessons for a once a week reoccurring time slot for the best learning results.
Cancellation Policy: Sometimes things come up - I understand! All I ask is that you give me at least 24 hours notice before your lesson time and we can reschedule the lesson (you’ll get to keep your credit for that lesson). If not, or for no-shows, the lesson will be marked “missed” (you’ll lose a lesson credit). *If you miss 3 lessons in a row, another student may take your reoccurring time slot and we’ll need to find a new time.
Required Materials: In-person lessons only: Please bring a staff paper notebook. I use this to write notes in for you. You can find one on Amazon for about $5. Let me know if you need help with that! Online lessons only: Create a folder for our lessons, I will be sending you various files and PDFs so keep them all in the same place for easy access. depending on what you are learning, I may also have you download the Zoom desktop client, this is great for sharing system audio when working with music production. *If you are studying piano, composition or music software, it is suggested to have a piano or MIDI keyboard at home to practice on. If you do not have one, let me know before our first lesson and I can give you some suggestions of ones to purchase depending on your budget.
Teacher Location Information: Cat: I have a very friendly cat named Otto at my home location. He is very sweet and quiet and all of my students love him! However, if you are allergic to cats I would suggest booking online lessons. Parking: There is usually street parking available around the building.

Super great teacher all around! Gives great tips and information but is not too harsh. He puts the lesson in the student's hand and allows his students to choose what they want to work on and how. However, Ben's best quality is his all-around personality. Very nice man and treats you not as much of a student than as a friend.
"Dave is an experienced drummer, fluent in rudiments and familiar with various styles. He tailored the lessons to my skills, experience, and desires. Given
a somewhat general idea of what I wanted, he prepared lessons that not only incorporated the skills and techniques I wanted to learn, but applied them to scenarios in which I might use them in the real world. Not only that, but he is willing to travel to his students' locations, instead of expecting them to go to him. Because of this, I was able to learn on my own kit, instead of having to adapt to one that may have been vastly different than what I'm used to. I highly recommend Dave as a drum instructor!"
"Puts lesson in easy to understand terms, concepts and exercises."
"I have a basic sense and feeling of rhythum but studying under kevin has yielded amazing results. I may not be the next star drummer but he really helped
me hone my skills... he comes highly recommended!!"
"John is our perfect instructor: approachable, positive, encouraging, upbeat, makes my shy child comfortable and motivated. We love him!"
"Mr. Pham is a wonderful teacher! He has worked with three of my children. He started with my oldest in middle school and worked with her till she gradua
ted from high school. The second child worked with Mr. Pham until he decided he preferred the trumpet. My third child started with piano and has moved to percussion. I would highly recommend Mr. Pham to anyone who would like to enroll in lessons."
"Michael is a world-class drummer, and I had the benefit of his coaching for my drumline and in private lessons. He's patient with 'dumb questions' and hel
ps students discipline themselves to acheive incredible levels of technique. Also a really gentle, nice guy in general! Highly recommended."
Always challenging and keeps me informed about stuff that I need to know. Always relates things to other areas of percussion. Is really funn
y and nice. Always keeps me interested in what is going on during the lesson."
"Very patient with this beginner. Clear lesson plan."
"Yoo this Dude is the real deal. I had a great experience studying with him, Tareq is an extremely talented musician and teacher. He helped me a lot with m
y Cajon playing. Seeing him perform will keep you motivated. He has some crazy hand and finger techniques from all that Arabic drumming. Check him out. Highly recommended. Tareq is the man."
