I offer 24 years of experience playing, and 17 years teaching privately and as a public school band director. My curriculum focuses on technique, theory, style, and interpretation.

To develop quality saxophone technique, an emphasis on posture, breath support, embouchure, tone quality, intonation, articulation, and fingering is incorporated in each portion of a given lesson.

The importance of theory and scales is outlined and taught with each lesson. A challenging scale assignment to improve technical ability and music theory knowledge directly correlated to the assigned repertoire will help students understand the structure of the music they are practicing.

Saxophone students dedicate practice time to classical repertoire that includes both lyrical and technical challenges. Demonstrating the highest level of performance and knowledge of a piece is the desired result. I've taught lessons and performed in Louisiana, Texas and Massachusetts for the past 15 years. My students vary from beginners to advanced and always come back amazed at the ease in which they learn. I also teach music theory, music history, guitar and piano lessons.

I've studied piano extensively for over 20 years and have successfully taught children and adults how to enjoy making music and develop their artistic side. My students quickly find they possess the inherent skills and critical thinking to learn, observe/self-correct, and succeed as young musicians from any starting point. Since every student has a different learning style, I make sure to include repertoire and curriculum that will make learning this musical language a fun journey.

If requested, lessons can include music notation, rhythms, technique and fundamental theory.

I individualize each students instruction. I keep in mind the students and parents goals and schedule when I make this plan.

In each lesson, I will identify immediate issues then put you on a weekly regimen to move you toward vocal balance.

I use Gary Catona’s Vocal Building technique to improve your muscular strength. After that, I will use a two-fold system of vowels (Catona) and consonant-vowel speaking combinations (Bauer) to balance your voice by training the articulators to work in tandem with your vowel placement enhancing your natural sound, support and create balanced breath pressure.

Specific to learning the Catona Method:
This is an intensive vocal work out learning the fundamentals of Gary Catona’s Vocal Building method. We will cover all mouth positions and how to execute each exercise properly. It usually takes two 1 hour lessons to get a grasp on the Basics.
