About Rebecca
I have been teaching piano for over 18 years. I played piano and keyboards in a band for several years, and I have been playing piano and singing at church for over nine years. I can help you learn the proper technique and musical skills for any kind of playing in the future, with more advanced teaching for classical piano. I can also teach chord playing for students that want to quickly learn their favorite songs. I'll even help you learn how to sing along!

*** Lesson Details ***
I have a lot of fun at my lessons, but I emphasize the importance of practice. For beginning students, I like to use the Alfred's Basic Piano Library (that teaches piano playing and note reading), which I supplement with fun games, history projects and music journal topics to ensure my students get a well-rounded music education while enjoying what they
are doing. I also host a yearly recital (which is also for online students) so my students will all get a chance to show off their skills! I create a custom curriculum for my more advanced students.

*** Equipment/Books ***
I will supply the curriculum for local students at their cost. I choose the curriculum for online students to order on the Internet. The student must have a suitable keyboard or piano.

About Jessica
Expect fun and relaxed lessons with an emphasis from the beginning of establishing a love and appreciation for music while developing and polishing technique!

Hello! My name is Jessi H. and I received a Bachelor’s of Art in Music from Bryn Mawr College and a Master’s of Music in Theory and Composition from the University of New Mexico. Playing with other people is a great joy and throughout my schooling and afterward, I have performed in in orchestras, chamber ensembles, pit ensembles, and in collaborations with artists in other mediums. I began teaching violin lessons during my undergraduate degree and have maintained a private studio since then, which has been full of a wide variety of students and has branched out to theory and composition.

My intention in the first few weeks of lessons is to identify the goals of each studen
t and how best they learn. While familiar with most teaching methods, I prefer to modify my style of teaching to what is effective for each student. If the student is motivated by what we are playing, then skills grow exponentially faster. Students are encouraged to perform in spring and winter recitals to showcase their progress.

After three to six months, my students can expect to have a solid foundation in the subject they are studying, a start on the repertoire or subjects of their choice, and motivation to keep going!

Great Knowledge

Jessica has a fantastic knowledge of the violin. Not only can she explain the theory behind music but relate it to everyday examples. She has a fun personality too; so she makes understanding and learning the pieces fun and easy. She taught me to learn more, push my boundaries, and gain confidence while playing.

About gwendolyn
I currently teach private lessons in saxophone, flute, and piano and have experience working with individuals as well as small groups. In 2007, I received a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from the University of Washington where I studied jazz and classical saxophone. For the past 15 years, I have been performing with many professional groups, ranging in styles from big band jazz, classical, samba, funk, to gospel and blues.
As a private instructor, I genuinely encourage efficient practice, solid technique and good tone quality, as well as an appreciation for music. I also incorporate the study of music theory and the study of music fundamentals in my lessons. I have experience teaching the genres of classical, jazz, modern, folk, and pop music and hope to extend the joy of learning music to my students. Over the past ten years I
have been able to help my students grow and gain confidence, which brings on-going fulfillment to their musical experience.

It was an honor and a pleasure working with Gwen. Due to personal circumstances, I had to stop working with her, but I highly recommend her as an instructor. She's very knowledgeable, accommodating, and made me feel comfortable. You'll find yourself in good hands with her.

About Cassie
I am an active teacher and performer newly returned to the Seattle area after a decade away. I have a BM from the University of Oregon and an MM from the University of North Texas, both concentrated in flute performance.

I recently spent three years in Texas and had a studio of 35 middle and high school flutists who under my tutelage improved their skills, gained new appreciation for music, won local competitions (one received a brand new professional flute for her award!) and one received an offer to attend UNT to study music for their undergraduate degree.

I also pursue an active playing career, but I am especially focused on teaching.
