I've been playing guitar the better half of my life. I like to use method books, but also teach in a more hands on style where the student learns chords and scales and songs as well.

About Jeremy
A Berklee College of Music graduate and a professional music instructor for over ten years, I can help you to reach your musical goals. I tailor lessons to suit your needs covering everything from skill development, music theory and musicianship, to expanding your repertoire and composing original work. I play and teach drums, piano, bass and guitar. I am new to Seattle, having just moved from San Francisco where I performed regularly at a wide array of venues such as Great American Music Hall, Freight and Salvage, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Bimbos, Bottom of the Hill, Savanna Jazz, Amnesia, Ashkenaz, Mystic Theater and Cafe Du Nord. I play many styles of music. Jazz, rock, funk, punk, blue-grass... you name it. I can show you how to play what you want to play.

*** Lesson Details ***
I believe in a strong musical foundati
on and that learning to play music should be fun!

Let's get you started on your new guitar path!

About Abby
My name is Abby, and I've been playing guitar for about 15 years now. I graduated from Musician's Institute in 2007, and since then, I have had a great deal of experience teaching guitar to kids and adults, both individually and in groups.

I've spent three summers in a row teaching at Camp Jam and Day Jams, and I had the pleasure of being the Camp Jam kids director of the Orange County location in 2008. They were both great experiences . I have spent he last couple summers teaching School of Rock summer camps which was also a really fun time.

I love helping students find their passion for music and the creative process. I have been teaching at my current music school for about two years, and privately for about 6 years.

I have studied and taught many different styles of guitar, as well as note reading and theory. You could
say I'm a rock player at heart, but I love all styles.

I am currently not traveling to homes for lessons, but I am still taking students who are able and willing to come to my location.

Varying styles from finger-picking to strumming patterns, as well as riff-oriented and lead/scale techniques. As far as material, my preference is the student's preference!

About Brett
MUSIC INSTRUCTION AND
ENJOYMENT OFFERED. Very enthusiastic and
experienced musician available for instruction offering the following:

# In-depth written music theory coupled with an equivalent of ear training and tone
recognition

# Introduction to performance skills with instruments that include:

Guitar - electric & acoustic
Drum Kit and percussion rhythms
Piano/Keyboard

# Group lessons or private instruction, depending on personal preferences and age
groups

Personal
experience includes:

1) 15 years of GUITAR: professional performance
and composition. Styles include rock, folk, blues, chord
progressions, and alternate tuning.

2) 15 years of DRUMS and PERCUSSION: Latin, swing, blues, as well as rock, funk, punk, and reduced to
p forty beats.

3) 15 years of PIANO: which utilize
several years of personal instruction in classical, popular, and some ragtime,
in addition to an intimate knowledge of Piano Proficiency (scales & modes,
chord structures & inversions, common chord progressions, intervals, circle
of 5th, and finger exercises)

4) 2 years of MUSIC THEORY and COMPOSITION at college level.

Lessons will include additional materials to the primary instrument such as sheet music for
sight reading, rhythm patterns, tabletures, and chord charts.

***Above all, I encourage students to select those pieces, tunes, or songs that have appealed to them the most; perhaps even inspiring them to learn a musical instrument in the first place. Adaptations are a common and enjoyable part of the teaching process.

*** Lesson Details ***
Expect efforts, on my part, to steer learning into areas of the students particular interest as well as conventional genres such as classical, popular, folk, blues, etc...

Moreover, I rely on ear training as a strong complement to written music theory and sight-reading; often using recorded music samples or simple patterns on a piano.

I try to balance method-type published lesson books with beginner, intermediate, or original composition sheet music to specifically selected pieces.

Ideally, with a reasonable practice schedule each week, full comprehension of the written music grand staff and an ear to catch a false note will become second nature. By then, more opportunities to learn actual pieces and styles become greater, having got the initial learning curve under the students belt.

*** Studio Equipment ***
*snare drum
*electronic keyboard/piano

*** Travel Equipment ***
lesson material/music media samples can be provided for copy
student would have own instrument

*** Specialties ***
Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Piano, Drums, Percussion, Music Theory
finger picking styles and chord progressions - guitar
lead and rhythm patterns - electric guitar
latin, blues, rock, jazz styles - drum kit & percussion
classical & popular tunes - piano/keyboard

I'm into my second month of weekly guitar lessons with Brett and can't believe how well I am playing already!! I've had some basic guitar lessons in the past but still very much a beginner. Brett knew precisely where to start and what I needed next to advance my playing, and broke it down into attainable steps. So far I've learned a good handful of strum patterns; I can finally play two songs pretty well and sing along; and I am in the rudimentary stage of learning to finger pick. Really love the fact that beautiful sounds are coming from my instrument! Highly recommend if you're ready to make the commitment to becoming a capable player.

What a terrible experience. I signed up for lessons for my wife from Brett as a gift because he listed times that would work for my wife given that we have a young daughter, and have a hard time making time for lessons. Brett told us 3 days before the lesson that the time wouldn't work, then simply never showed for the rescheduled first lesson. Worse, he simply refused to do scheduling via email (he would leave voicemails and failed to return my wife's call when she called back as they were playing phone tag), and then told us he had another commitment during the slot we had supposedly reserved for him. Worse, he failed to update the site as he continually cancelled lessons and never showed up for scheduled times. I now have a huge hassle of getting a refund on the money I paid for lessons as opposed to a lovely gift for my wife. Life's too short and we're too busy for such an awful experience.

Guitar is my main instrument, I have been studying music by way of the guitar for fourteen years. I am well versed in many different styles but make my living playing jazz funk, and musical theater.

About Ian
Ian has graduated with an associates of music, along with studying with a handful of Seattle's finest instructors for Jazz guitar. In addition to studying flamenco guitar in Barcelona with the world-renowned Pedro J. Gonzales, Ian is also is a practiced percussion and drums instructor, and trained vocalist. He regularly plays in clubs around Seattle, is frequently employed by local musical theater orchestras, and already teaches a vibrant studio in Northeast Seattle.

I have a six year background of teaching music, which overlaps with a six year background of working at and managing a K-5 after school/summer daycare, so I can especially excel at getting the best out of young students, but love to teach all ages.

*** Lesson Details ***
Depending on your age, experience and musical aspirations, lessons will be approached from va
rious angles. I have taught seven-year old girls to strum and sing Taylor Swift songs just as much as I have taught aspiring young jazz players their beginning standards and Jazz theory. I try to work music theory in to my lessons, and always assure that my young students have proper music reading skills. Ultimately my goal as a teacher is to have fun connecting and playing the music that my students are passionate about, while simultaneously attempting to introduce them to new concepts and music.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Drum Sets, Guitars, Amps, Keyboard and more.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Various Acoustic and Electric Guitars, amps, Snare Drum, stands, etc. Drum sets, if necessary.

I use a student centered approach, using the music my students love as a vehicle to teach good technique habits and a solid understanding of chords, scales and music theory. I also teach all my students to read tablature, memorize pieces, and improvise.

About Carl
I am a guitarist and multi instrumentalist based in Seattle. I began playing music at age four, and since then have studied, taught and performed in multiple styles including Classical, Jazz, Rock, Electronic, Progressive, and more.

I have personally taught over 5000 music lessons and have developed a comprehensive approach, whether you are a casual player or a professional musician. I favor a student oriented approach where lessons are structured around your own interests while also developing the skills needed to accomplish your goals.

In addition to teaching I am also a working professional musician performing in several bands and ensembles as well as appearing as a solo artist. I feel that this is essential to keeping my lessons fresh, dynamic, and fun.

"My mission is to strengthen individuals by helping them build confidence, self esteem, and identity through the gift of music!

About Joshua
ABOUT ME:
My name is Joshua Turner, I have been singing and playing instruments for over 10 years. I have been trained in the styles of rock, pop, blues, R&B, folk, classical, and opera. I got my vocal training from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston where I studied voice. I was trained by the best vocal teachers in the country and I have lots of Berklee curriculum to base my teachings off of. I also attended Musicians Institute for guitar study.

MY TEACHING STYLE:
My teaching style is very simple and to the point, the goal is to learn how to use your instrument. I don't like to get too technical about it because it can actually slow your progression down if you do. The simplest way that I was taught to sing is that "if it hurts, you are singing wrong." That is why vocal exercises are so important to keep your voice stro
ng so you can build stamina and avoid pain, I also have audio vocal exercises that I can provide. I don't like to put people down while they are learning because I know that singing and playing an instrument is a really sensitive thing and that could cause the singer or musician to stop singing or playing completely, which defeats the whole purpose. I have experience in all forms of music from live rock shows, to teaching music in pre-schools. I teach confidence!

THE BENEFITS OF MY MUSIC LESSONS:

-Higher self esteem

-Better grades

-More confidence

-Stronger social skills

-And so much more!

You are actually learning all of the above things, while simultaneously learning your instrument! If you follow the lesson plan that I provide you, my GUARANTEE is that you will become a noticeably better musician and singer and unlock a new found confidence within 4 lessons (1 month).

MUSIC EDUCATION:
Musicians Institute- Guitar Performance (April- November 2010)
Berklee College of Music- Vocal Performance (September 2007- May 2009)

AWARDS:
Berklee achievement scholarship (2008)
