I am an active performing singer who has been teaching for over 7 years. Whether you are a beginner just starting out or an experienced singer, I can help you to achieve your goals! I have my Masters of Music in Voice Performance and have sung professionally all over the country. I believe lessons should be tailored to each student, since every person has different goals and experience. Whether you need more technique or just to polish some old repertoire, I can help!

About Clarice
Here's a little information about me and my teaching!

1) My experience as a teacher: I have been teaching both privately and at music schools for over 7 years. I have experience teaching private voice lessons and music therapy.

2) My experience as a performer: I currently sing and perform in the Seattle area. I recently moved from Chicago where I had a very active career singing. I know how to prepare you for auditions and performances because I myself am performing and auditioning.

3) My students: I've taught many different students, from beginners to advanced singers, children to adults. Whether you just want to learn how to sing your favorite song, or you are preparing for professional auditions, I can help!

4) I think singing takes hard work, but it's also important to have fun!

It is my goal to help every on
e of my students:

1) develop a healthy singing technique that will bring longevity to your career or hobby.

2) learn music efficiently and independently.

3) develop good practice habits.

4) learn basic ear training/sight singing.

If that sounds like something you would like to learn, click the green button on my profile to book lessons with me. If you are not quite ready to book, feel free to ask me a question.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
I've been studying voice for 12 years and teaching for the past 7. I received my Masters of Music degree in voice performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts and my B.M. from UCF. Since graduating in 2013, I have sung with throughout the Chicago area and recently moved to Seattle. Some performance highlights include but are not limited to performing with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Sinfonietta, and in CCPA's production of the Chicago Premier of Daron Hagen's Amelia, and performing with the Grant Park Chorus.

I look forward to working with you!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide books. I expect my student to provide a piano.

I've been a professional singer for over 25 years, and as I'm aging, my changing body needs to be retrained in a few areas. Clarice is a wonderful find of a teacher and coach. She helped me to prepare for a Mahler audition that was out of my comfort zone (I've mostly done Baroque repertoire, and Mahler sounds so much better when you're 50). She helped me to really get in touch with my core breathing, and to sing a legato line like you never get in early music. She also gave really good coaching advice on things like color and brightness of tone, with thoughts of making it cut through a thick texture. I really liked the advice "pp is a color, not a volume." I have yet to hear about my audition results, but unlike many, I felt really good about how I sang. I'm looking forward to more lessons with Clarice so that I can keep on singing healthily for the next 20 years into my 70s.

Vocal Technique -- basic to advanced (how to use your entire instrument and expand your options as a singer -- and maintain a healthy instrument long-term)
Jazz Singing & Musicianship
Pop Singing & Musicianship
"Singer's Piano" - using the piano as a tool to help expand your singing and musicianship
Ear-trainging and Musicianship for singers -- how to sing in tune, how to improvise/ "riff", how to hear more interesting note options, how to expand colors/ textures in your voice

About Kelly
After years of teaching all levels, and many different styles of voice and piano lessons, I can tell you this-- I LOVE teaching! My students have ranged from 5 to 65, from classical piano, or jazz/pop piano, to pop/rock/jazz singing, to songwriting and/or ear-training, and no matter what we always have a great time. I guarantee that in our lessons, you will see progress almost immediately... but above all, learning music is FUN! A little extra info....
**In 2012 I finished a Masters degree at NYU in Jazz Studies, and recorded an album of some jazz, folk, and original music.
**I perform in New York City and Seattle, and I tour with my band a few times each year
**I taught jazz piano and voice lessons for four years at NYU and also through the New York Jazz Academy and Brooklyn Music Factory, from beginning to advanced, classical, pop
or jazz -- and I teach rock bands how to learn music by ear and have fun playing with other people! I have also been teaching privately (independent home studio) since 2007.
**I organize and teach vocal workshop classes, where singers can learn how to work with a band.
**I joined the Cornish College of the Arts adjunct jazz faculty in Spring 2015!

I moved back to Seattle in April 2014 after being in NYC for four years -- completing my Master of Music degree (NYU), living, teaching, and performing in Brooklyn and Manhattan. NYC was amazing, and I'd love to share with you all of the cool things I picked up during my time there. From 2005-2010, I lived in Seattle and taught music lessons. I graduated from Cornish College of the Arts in Jazz Performance (voice) and performed a lot around Seattle-- from jazz clubs to concert halls-- performing pop, rock, soul, jazz and even working in a Steely Dan Tribute Band!! (your parents might appreciate that more than you do)

More than anything, I'm fascinated by the different ways that students learn and always love figuring out what kind of learning works best for YOU.

*** Lesson Details ***
I love watching my students progress and enjoy their music, no matter what style they enjoy or what level they are. I work with students to pick out music that they'll enjoy working on-- it's always more fun to learn songs you love!
I'm a pretty laid back teacher, but I work to inspire my students to try their hardest and do the best that they can do. I will provide you will the exercises, materials, and right level of songs to help you meet your goals, and together we can create a plan for our lessons.

In our lessons we will cover a variety of topics, including:

--Strong, Healthy TECHNIQUE so that you can gain a command of your instrument and play or sing whatever you choose. Through various EXERCISES you will develop strength, control, musicianship, and good habits.
(Vocalists:)
It is important to develop a healthy technique so that you can sing whatever you want without getting fatigued or injuring your voice. We'll work on developing strong technique and finding your own unique SOUND-- we'll choose music that is right for your vocal style and music that YOU connect with so you can really express yourself.
(Pianists):
No matter whether you want to play classical, pop, or jazz, you'll want your fingers to be strong and agile enough to get the sound that you want out of the instrument. With good technique you can play anything!

--Rhythm, subdivision, and groove

--Ear-training & Music Theory (chord qualities, pitch matching, easy transcription)

--Building your REPERTOIRE so that you have songs to play, and discussing techniques specific to each style of music you study

--Arranging or Communicating with a band (if that is something which interests you)

--Performance considerations.... developing confidence and personal expression!

My goal is to inspire students to play their instruments (or sing!), develop good habits and encourage healthy curiosity..... but most of all to Love Playing Music!

*** Studio Equipment ***
full music room with 88 f/w keyboard with music stand, amp, microphone (if applicable), acoustic guitar, seating for parents.

I will provide lesson plans and corresponding handouts, exercises, examples, etc. If the student is taking piano lessons they should have access to a keyboard or piano at home. I also have a vocal microphone & amp to work on microphone technique.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in jazz/pop piano and voice, and have a strong background in classical and jazz theory and technique. I typically design curricula which include technical exercises from my classical background and then focus stylistically on the genre that the student is interested in. I have extensive experience both performing and teaching in many jazz, pop, rock and soul styles-- I try to help the student find their unique voice while establishing a strong foundation of healthy technique.

I'm not being hyperbolic when I write that Kelly is one of the finest teachers I've ever had. I'm a singer-songwriter with unlimited drive, but frustratingly limited musical skills, and Kelly has been able to teach me theory and any number of other related skills such that I've made great progress. She is very patient, extremely musical, and has great taste, which sure doesn't hurt!

At first I wasn't sure how all the vocal exercises and breathing that we were doing were fitting together, but by the 5th lesson, I could see my singing improve significantly. Greg has a lot of experience, but doesn't try to overwhelm you or do things that are unnecessary. I don't believe anyone is really tone deaf and I'm more than happy to teach anyone from people who just want to learn how to sing for fun to people prepping for college auditions to people who are seasoned performers and want to take their skills to the next level.

My name is Megan and I've been singing for 20 years, performing for 17 years and took piano and vocal instruction for several years. All of this has prepped me with the skills and experience to show others how to really sing and perform like a pro.

I have been teaching ages 10 years to 60 years old and have performed several genres and instructed others on these genres including musical theater, jazz, pop, punk, rock, soul and classical. I have been singing choirs and vocal jazz groups for 18 years, am the lead singer of a pop punk band, and perform jazz and pop all over the greater Seattle area and have done choral ensemble work as well.

I am super confident that no matter where you're at musically or what style

About Megan
There's a couple things I'm really good at and that's helping people find their UNIQUE voice and how to break out of their comfort zones and take their performing and singing to the next level. Singing WELL is about so much more than technique. While I teach technique and all the basics, the really fun part is discovering what you're made of and what your unique voice can do. Together we can discover what it means to not just sound good, but to WOW people and more importantly, wow yourself.

I have spent my entire life figuring out how to sing with passion, with real emotion and rawness, how to write songs that paint a picture, how to go beyond my self limiting beliefs and reach goals I never thought I could. And in so discovering how to do this for myself I now teach others how to do it too.

If you're ready to go from good to great, o
r even if you're ready to just start for the first time I got you. You're capable of so much more than you think.

Megan has been patiently working with me, a true beginner. I have progressed from barely knowing how to sing on pitch to singing on pitch (mostly.. still working on doing it within songs) within months. She does the right amount of technique exercises along with singing songs to get you to have proper form to get those notes out correctly. You will not be disappointed.

My entire life revolves around music! I got my first paid gig at 9 years old and I've never looked back! With more than 40 years of performing in musicals, choirs and rock and blues bands, a capella and with instruments, and over 10 years as a teacher, I show my students exactly what their instrument does by using as many senses possible to help re-wire your brain and create permanent muscle memory and habits in singing and general performance. My unorthodox approach includes allowing my students to select their own music, showing my student exactly what their instrument looks like with videos, and teaching through concepts my students already know and understand to help them quickly learn what the voice is and how to use it in every way possible! I've worked all over the world with many cultures and helped them to create a truly continent dialect in singing. I can't wait to help you! Contact me asap and let's get it started in HA!

About Andrea
I grew up in a musical family. My father played all over California, with all different types of bands, from salsa to country & western. I, my mom and my older sister were in the Sweet Adelines, and my little sister is a public school music teacher. I've spent my entire life from age 3 singing and performing! I love nothing better than passing on my vast repertoire of singing and performance knowledge to anyone who is willing to learn! I got my first paid gig at 9 years of age, singing in a wedding. I've performed everything from Simon and Garfunkel to Ozzy Osbourne and I'm now doing my own songs with my band, What's Next?.

With over 40 years of performance experience, I decided to began teaching in 2007 while living in Europe. I found that using ideas which my students already understood to explain how to sing, was something tha
t worked amazingly well! For instance, I taught a number of scientists/engineers from CERN, in Geneva Switzerland, using physics and engineering principles. When I returned to the U.S., I took on a student who was a auto mechanic, and used the idea of the combustable engine to help him understand how the voice works. I put in considerable effort to understand the best way a student learns, so I can teach him in such a way that I know he will understand the concepts and be able to replicate the sounds needed to sing.

From beginners to accomplished musicians, I've helped committed students realize their Inner Diva. Confidence issues, tonal issues, or just plain issues? I am the teacher who can bring your talent to full fruition. I've worked with professionals and novices from Poland to Oklahoma, France to Italy, UK to New York City to Switzerland and back to Oklahoma. I am permanently settled in the Greater Seattle area now! You pick the music, and I'll pick your brain, and together we can find the path to fulfill your dreams. Step beyond the fear to be the best artist you can be! Life's way too short to have regrets ... Sing Already!
