I picked Zach because he is from Paris and my husband and I just returned from a trip there. We want to go back next year with improved communication abilities. Zach will not only be able to teach us the language we want to know, but also give us tips about Paris and France in general from a native's point of view.
Zach started me out perfectly for my first French lesson. It was challenging enough but not overwhelming. I love that (for a part of it) he recorded me so I could hear what I sounded I sound like speaking French -very helpful!! He has given me just enough to work on between lessons and left me motivated for what's to come!

I took French before and did not see myself improving at all. Took it with Zach this time and I actually see myself learning. He makes you record yourself so you can hear what you sound like and that really improves pronunciation (especially for me being Arab since French pronunciation is nothing like Arabic) because you get to see how people hear you talk and that leaves a lot of room for improvement, plus hearing yourself talk over and over helps your mind to remember what you learned (you won’t learn it and then forget it by the next lesson).

I'm a Certified Interpreter in French (along with Romanian, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese) by the Defense Language Institute Monterrey, California.
Since middle school I loved foreign languages which proved to be very rewarding starting with high school when traveling around the world with shooting competitions.
Visiting France and other French speaking countries on three continents allowed me the affinity of learning different accents and slangs of the same language.

Learning any foreign language opens doors in life whether on personal or professional level, and I sincerely believe that anybody can learn anything disregarding their age; in fact, I have friends who late in life decided to learn foreign languages or various skills that they always wanted to learn, so, I encourage you to do the same.

Group students are welcome at a special rate.

About Isabela
Before reading about me, I'd like to share up front the honor that my newest student, R., has brought to me by choosing to learn Romanian. Nothing special so far except that he is 100 years old!!!! Yes, you read that correctly: a century old. He is the outmost inspiring person in my life by teaching me that age is just a number and that learning can happen any day if we choose so. R is a medical doctor, a psychologist, a chemist and biologist. Words can't even define how great of a man he is and how grateful I am to learn from him, too. For instance, about a famous language called "esperanto", a language created in the late 19th century.

I'm an enthusiastic learner even after 19 years of formal education (two Masters, one Bachelor) earned on two continents continued by US military education in various forms, and formally tested studen
t who needed to document skills that were not formally captured on paper (like the foreign languages I know).

I love interacting with people and pass on my knowledge from five visited continents, instill love for learning and continuous curiosity for any subject out there. Nothing is impossible when you set your mind to it. Failing once doesn't mean that you'll never win (proof in my athletic years and life ever since); determination, hard work, self-motivation and a good supporting system can bring to reality even the most insignificant dreams that we believe may not come true, and especially those in which we passionately trust.

I believe in breaking down a goal into objectives, assigning tasks to each one of them, and then sticking to achieve them.

I'm a Certified Instructor with the Department of Homeland Security. My hobbies include practicing foreign languages (and proper grammar rules which highly reflect on one's education) by speaking them, learning about cultures and slangs, etymology, watching foreign movies, traveling internationally, taking photos, reading (a lot), carefully planning with room for error and impulsive decisions (to take the boredom out of things), meeting with life long friends, drawing, painting, and spending time outdoors for inspiration and health.

I'm elated at the opportunity of brainstorming with you and giving you tools to be an independent learner.

Do you have a question that you're afraid to ask your teacher? Want to understand exactly why Duolingo said your answer was wrong? Ask me! I studied French at a college level for two and a half years and have ben speaking ever since- if I don't know the answer, I know where to go to find the answer. I will tailor the lessons to your needs so you truly have a great foundation for your French-learning journey. Allons-y!

About Robin
I’ve studied French on and off since I was 8 years old, continuing throughout high school and completing the major requirements for an associates degree in French, plus an extra semester. I also taught sixth and seventh graders an Intro to French class, where the goal was to make learning a new language fun. I am prepared to meet you at your level, and help you reach your goals. The lessons will be mostly in French, so you can get as much immersion as possible. Cultural experiences will also be a part of the lesson, including food, music, and history. I want to know what your objective is, so I can create a lesson plan tailored to your needs.

My musical career began when I was nine years old playing the flute and violin. I started singing in choir at 11 and started theatre at 13. I studied acting at the Actor Training Program, a subset
of Solano Community College. I’ve also performed in professional shows around the Bay Area, with companies such as Contra Costa Civic Theatre, Missouri Street Theatre, and Lamplighters Music Theatre. I recently graduated from Circle in the Square Theatre School with a diploma in Musical Theatre. I’m now based in Brooklyn, ready to work with anyone within the five boroughs!

I started cooking when I was nine years old. My mother was in the hospital for nine days, and I was left to my father’s care. He’s a great father, but an absent-minded man who only ate once a day, so I lived off of what I could make for myself-cereal and soy sauce top ramen. I vowed to never be dependent on someone else to cook for me, and I want to give that same independence to you! I’ll teach you how to make simple flavorful dishes on a budget, so that you can be in control of what you eat (and hopefully we wont make too big a mess in the process).

I'm from a beautiful Caribbean island called St. Lucia where French Kwéyòl is our native language. Most St. Lucians speak either English or both languages.
French Kwéyòl is spoken in 3 different countries namely Dominica, St. Lucia and Haiti. Although the dialect is different in each country the underlying principles of this language is what I will be teaching. This class comes with a free app of the French Kwéyòl dictionary which will aid in quickly understanding this languag.

If you know someone who speaks French Kwéyòl and want to be a part of the conversation or if you're looking for a unique opportunity to learn an exortic language this is the perfect class for you.

About Knedy
I am 29 year old St. Lucia from a beautiful Caribbean island and I have a unique language that I am beyond excited to teach and share with the world.

I first learnt the language by spending summer vacations with my grandmother who didn't any English and I spoke absolutely no French Kwéyòl because my mom never spoke it at home.

Like many of the kids my age in St. Lucia it was a forbidden language because English was seen as more pristine and proper but I loved how my grandmother and her friend sounded and how the ring games we'd play were mostly French Kwéyòl but I so desperately wanted to know what the meant.

I am beyond proud of my countries native language and I would love to share it with the rest of the world or even St. Lucias like myself who might not have been as fortune as I was to have someone teach them.

There is a Kwéyòl
app on the app store with is free and will definitely help you with this class.

I am grateful for the opportunity and I look forward to shearing my unique slice of Caribbean culture with you.

Bonjour!

I grew up about twenty minutes from the border with France and got to go there regularly from early on. I started learning French when I was 12 and started teaching it when I was 15 because, believe it or not, I enjoy the sometimes weird grammatical complexities of French.

At university I took advanced classes to continue learning and when I went to study in Canada I lived in a shared house with six native speakers of Canadian and European French. This year I spent the spring in Morocco and Togo where I got to experience two more varieties French.

I consider myself highly Francophile, enjoy reading in French and take pleasure in teaching it. Explaining grammar, spelling, pronunciation and difficult features of the language are my assets as I have been largely successful in sharing them with students, friends and acquaintances over the years.

Allons-y! :)

About Viktor
Hola, hallo, olá, ciao and bonjour !

My name is Viktor Malu and I'm a well-traveled linguist who is passionate about the nature and manifold applications of language. I have either lived or spent significant time in places where the languages I speak are alive and I strive to spark linguistic enthusiasm in the people around me. I have a talent for using existing knowledge of language, which we all have, even unknowingly, to make learning or improving a new language easier. Languages are vivid, fun, and adventurous, they often require patience and thrive with motivation - just like my classes!

I have recently graduated in Applied Intercultural Linguistics (B.A.) from the University of Augsburg, Germany. This is an interdisciplinary program that includes linguistic theory and practice as well as didactics and cultural studies. It allowed
me to spend two years studying and living in the English-, Spanish- and French-speaking Americas and Portugal.

I started tutoring in English, French and Spanish when I was 15 and have continued teaching languages professionally and as a volunteer in a variety of settings, such as a private tutoring institute, a secondary school in Costa Rica, at university (phonetics and phonology), at an NGO's school for refugees and at a language school for adults and young professionals.

Let me be your source of knowledge, experience, wisdom and enthusiasm! Ready to tap in?

I come from a bilingual; French American family. This allows me to communicate effectively with the people that are wanting to learn. We will go from the basics, working our way up.

About Alice
I have been shooting since 2005. Since, then I have been on the USA Archery National Teams several years in a row, as well as traveled to international countries to compete. I have been on the Recurve Junior Dream Team for a year, before I aged out, but before that I was attending camps as an invitee. I've also lived at the Olympic Training Center out in Chula Vista, CA for a few months shooting besides some of the top archers in the country. Since in college, I have been on the archery teams at all the schools I've been to. I was All American for two years in a row, hoping for a thrid chance at it. At the Florida Institute of Technology, I have started up an Archery Club, hoping to get the team to nationals, placing the school on the map for other archers to join.

I am a Level 2 Coach, aiming for her level 3 NTS Coaching Certificatio
n, and with my background experience I want to introduce this amazing sport to all individuals so they can also enjoy it to their hearts content. I used to coach at a range in Massachussets, as well as give private lessons at home, before moving down to Melbourne for college. I also make custom recurve bow strings, and tune equipment.

I provide private lessons, helping the students get comfortable with the sport before getting them to farther distances. I want the studnets to love thst sport that I do, by intergrating games into practices. When and if the students want to do group lessons, those can also be arranged to allow them to get used to shooting with their peers.

I love being able to teach people the sport that changed my life. I love seeing the smile on the childrens faces when they accomplish things they didnt excpect. I love seeing the expression on adults faces when they over come their doubt, and learn to enjoy the sport and relax into it.
