Young multilingual (English, Cantonese, and Mandarin) piano and violin teacher who combines the formal traditional Eastern style of teaching, and the fun approach of Western style of teaching into his music lessons.

Fun lessons but also challenging
- I believes that fun lessons are easy to gain young student interest, but it often lack to give them motivation. In the lessons, I often challenge my students, let them be self-motivated and become a better musician.

Techniques
- I focus lessons on teaching proper techniques with their instruments. With my experiences in taking lessons from American, Chinese, and Russian teachers, I learnt a great spectrum of techniques and I would like to teach my students what I had learn.

Learning pieces and other related topics
- Playing pieces and songs is only a small part of learning to play an instrument. In our lessons, we would also cover proper music theory, and ear-training.

I have been teaching students from pre-k to retirement age. Early ...

I have been teaching piano in the Seattle area for close to ten years. I have worked with young beginners to intermediate and some advanced students. My methods are eclectic and I often draw from the Kodaly Method for beginners. I encourage my students to sing along while they play to reinforce learning, accessing multiple neural pathways.

I teach my students to read music and play with feeling and heart. I instill a love of music in my students by creating musical moments in them and expose them to a wide variety of genres and styles. Students will learn basic technique, theory, improvisation, and performance etiquette, all while having fun!

About Holly

I am an enthusiastic musician with a talent for teaching. I have worked as a voice and piano teacher in Seattle for over 16 years. Previously employed at The West Side Music Academy in 2003-2006, I realized my passion for individual instruction early in my career. I studied Music Education under D

Holly is the best!

I came to her in 2020 as an absolute novice after hearing about her through a friend. I had no idea where to start and Holly was such a great instructor for a total beginner like me. She is smart and encouraging and always has great direction for me to improve my ability. She's really helped me find my own singing voice and inspires me to continue even when my lessons with her have to end. I've learned so much from her. Even outside of music instruction, Holly is a great person and a joy to be around!!

Looking back at how I've improved over the last year and half, I know I wouldn't have been able to do it without Holly.

Dr. C has the unique ability to make his lessons fun and profound. As someone who didn’t have a formal classical music background, he has consistently encouraged me and has intensified my creativity and curiosity by exposing me to music and ideas that are now indispensable to me. He is passionate, funny, witty, and undoubtedly the most valuable instructor I’ve ever had.

Dr. C. is a longtime trusted colleague with a sterling resume and excellent reputation among his students at both Queens College and Mannes College. Having taught a good number of his former students, I can attest to both the preparation they received from him but their respect and admiration they hold. Much Recommended.

"Maureen Spranza, PhD, is a gifted music teacher. Not only does she teach well, but she is also an accomplished musician. "Ms. Maureen", as we call her, has over 20 years of experience working with students of all levels. She teaches piano, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, flute saxophone, and violin.

My 8 and 10 year old boys both take 30 minutes of weekly piano lessons from Ms Maureen at Music Unlimited in San Leandro. Their instruction includes all facets of learning - from ear training, to technique, to theory. My 8 year old is a beginner and my 10 year old has been playing for 3 years. Her lessons include an optional Certificate of Merit program that "offers performance, development and evaluation opportunities for students". To learn more, visit http://www.mtac.org.

I really appreciate how she encourages participation in recitals throughout the year, which allows her students to perform both informally and formally to other students, teachers, and family.

We are extremely lucky to have found Ms. Maureen!!! The kids are progressing and are having fun learning. They are filling our house with beautiful music. I highly recommend her to piano learners of all ages!"
