A basic understanding of how the theory of music works; i.e., scales and how they are made up, key signatures and why, basic music notation, and chords and how they are constructed will equip you so that you can write your own songs down! Great composers of the past understood the basics of the structure of music, and therefore were able to compose great works even from an early age. As the ancient writers have shown us, an understanding of the workings of the musical scale can lead to a greater understanding of Creation itself!! Let's dig in!

I am a professional speaker and I decided to pursue some speaker voice coaching. This was my first lesson and Vanessa was friendly and great personality. I felt comfortable with her
immediately. She provided education, demonstration, observed me apply the techniques, and offered constructive feedback. After the class, I was excited to practice what I learned. I will definitely continue to go back to Vanessa. I highly recommend her.

Mr. Sylvester is one of the greatest. He is not just an amazing guitarist, but he is also very kind. He treats people with so much respect. He speaks to me and my mom so nicely. He is very patient. He has a deep knowledge of music and knows how to get the most out of even the least talented people (like me!). He doesn't ever get mad if you make a mistake or forget to bring your music notes. We were so lucky to find Mr. Sylvester.

Mark is a talented musician who plays and teaches multiple stringed instruments. His lessons are always informative and supportive. They are driven by the student’s interest, so anything you want o learn— styles of music, how to do a particular technique, music theory— you can bring to class. And every now and then he organizes a recital— terrifying but great practice!

"Jack is an AMAZING bassoon player and FANTASTIC instructor. He has taught my young son for over a year. We audited other music teachers who said they taught bassoon but really only knew the basics of teaching bassoon, their real expertise were other instruments. I was particularly impressed by Jack's ability to relate to my 11 year old son. He makes learning the bassoon not only informative but engaging and fun. Jack not only teaches classical bassoon music but is open to teaching modern pieces that my son wanted to learn. (I mean, how cool is it that my 11 year old kid busts out the Star Wars Cantina Song on his bassoon.) Jack plays bassoon regularly with orchestras which gives him real world experience that he passes on to his students. When I have seen him play professionally, it amazed me that someone so young could show such majority and skill with his musical instrument. Jack is also a great problem solver. When my son has problems with a piece, Jack is able to hear the problem and give my son techniques on how to fix them. When my son had problems with the instrument itself or the double reed, Jack was able to show my son HOW to fix them and not just fix it for my son himself. I highly recommend Jack has an instructor for students both young and old."

"Marc is wonderful with my enthusiastic 8 year old son. From our first contact with him, he freely gave advice for beginners as we looked for an instrument and continued to help us with everything we needed to know. He was always encouraging and inclusive with the planned jam sessions. The lessons were the perfect balance of a fun hang-out vibe and focus on technique... and a little gum bribe :)... whatever works! We were very lucky to find such a great teacher."

Guitar for Kids: How to Help Your Child Love the Guitar

Many parents aren't sure how to best support their child in learning a new instrument. Guitar teacher Dylan P. shares his tips for parents to encourage their children to fall in love with the guitar... You can’t teach a child to love the guitar. You can lead them there, but they have to find it themselves. For a kid, guitar is a hard instrument to play. They have to dig their fingers into steel strings, make indents, and get calluses. They have to understand that each note has a letter, …
