Experienced and enthusiastic violin teacher of almost ten years looking for students! Lessons are tailored to each student’s interests and learning style, while also developing a solid technical basis. Beginning students start out generally with the Strictly Strings method books and are supplemented by chosen songs as they progress. Most important to lessons is for the students to feel their forward momentum and enthusiasm for learning!

About Jessica
Expect fun and relaxed lessons with an emphasis from the beginning of establishing a love and appreciation for music while developing and polishing technique!

Hello! My name is Jessi H. and I received a Bachelor’s of Art in Music from Bryn Mawr College and a Master’s of Music in Theory and Composition from the University of New Mexico. Playing with other people is a great joy and throughout my schooling and afterward, I have performed in in orchestras, chamber ensembles, pit ensembles, and in collaborations with artists in other mediums. I began teaching violin lessons during my undergraduate degree and have maintained a private studio since then, which has been full of a wide variety of students and has branched out to theory and composition.

My intention in the first few weeks of lessons is to identify the goals of each studen
t and how best they learn. While familiar with most teaching methods, I prefer to modify my style of teaching to what is effective for each student. If the student is motivated by what we are playing, then skills grow exponentially faster. Students are encouraged to perform in spring and winter recitals to showcase their progress.

After three to six months, my students can expect to have a solid foundation in the subject they are studying, a start on the repertoire or subjects of their choice, and motivation to keep going!

Jessy was very knowledgeable and give me useful feedbacks and ideas on my playing. I was constantly being challenged in developing my skills and musicality and continuously growing. I would recommend her for any adult beginner like me.

My early childhood music education focuses the student through immersion, encouragement, small steps, and an unforced timetable for learning material based on each student's development and ability to imitate examples and internalize principles. Regular consistent practice is required and parent involvement is encouraged for younger students. Reviewing material, position, intonation, and bow techniques to always make a beautiful sound is of primary importance.

Hello! My name is Dalton, currently a music education major at West Virginia University. I grew up in Hedgesville being exposed to country and bluegrass as a child to now being a massive classical music fan. I've played violin in several different ensembles, two of which I was concert master. I played King Triton in The Little Mermaid Musical and played violin in the pit of Titanic: The Musical. I'm also a summer intern with the Maryland Symphony Orchestra.

Currently, I play violin in the WVU Symphony Orchestra and fiddle in the WVU Old Time band. Although classical violin is my specialty, I can also offer some beginner tips for fiddlers. I enjoy yoga, hot tea and spending time with friends. I also LOVE classical music and would love to take my students to (free) classical concerts if they'd like.

Over the summer, I live in Hedgesv
ille, but during the academic year, I live in Morgantown (starting Aug. 5).

I have played the violin since 7th grade- about 9 years ago. The violin is a very soothing and elegant instrument that can make beautiful sounds and can also wake up someone’s attention. I have played in FiestaVal in Tennessee and I did orchestra for two years in middle school. Currently going to college for vocal performance and orchestral performance. I would like to teach those interested all that I know about this great instrument.

About Oresmary
I have performance experience ranging from childhood to early adulthood and I may also include performing advice for those who struggle with “stage fright”, or those who simply would like to become better performers. I’m a former orchestral player that performed in a competition in Tennessee named Fiestaval. I am a Soprano singer capable of singing operatic pieces. I speak both English and Spanish, but I can sing in English, Italian, Latin, and Spanish.

I look forward to helping those who are as passionate for music as I am and I expect to learn alongside as well, since that is a teacher’s reward; to learn and teach at the same time.
