Lessons generally focus on four major areas: scales, etudes, ensemble parts
(orchestra and chamber music), and solo repertoire. Music theory and ear-training activities supplement work in these areas. A portion of lesson-time is also devoted to preparing students for entrance and seating auditions, when applicable. In addition to weekly lessons, my students perform solos in recitals and are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular ensembles.
As a guest artist and educator, I've has given performances and worked with students at universities around the world, including Bard College; Berklee College of Music; Chinese University of Hong Kong; Cornell University; Dartmouth College; Eastman School of Music; Harvard University; Shanghai Conservatory; Universidade Federal do Paraná; University of Alaska, Anchorage; University of California, Berkeley; University of California, San Diego; and Wesleyan University.
Please "Ask Lauren A Question" to learn more about lessons with me!
Generally lessons are 60 minutes once a week. For younger students or adults on a budget, 45 minute lessons are available. 30 minute lessons are for students 8 and younger. If students have an upcoming concert/audition, or would simply like to progress faster, twice weekly lessons are available.

All of my students learn how to read music from the beginning of their playing. For addressing technique with young kids, she uses fun pneumonic devices such as "pizza box hand," "flamingo arm," and "umbrella fingers," to help students remember, identify, and visualize proper hand, arm, and finger placement. They practice note names and rhythm through singing and memorization games. With these activities, students practice at home on their own and advance weekly between lessons while developing a love for playing the violin.
Lauren is an amazing violin instructor to our 11 year old son. She is always on time, has a great way with kids, and really brought out his confidence. I over heard him in the lesson saying “ohhh, that’s how you do it.” Lauren is a highly accomplished musician and outstanding teacher. We highly recommend her to anyone.

When I first started studying with Lauren in 2017, I was a freshman in high school and stuck in the fifth stand of my orchestra. Six months later, I moved up to being the concert master. Lauren is amazing. She brings out the best in my playing. She has a great ear for music, she is an amazing violinist, and the best teacher I have ever had. With Lauren I was able to progress from 3rd position to 7th position in a short time. She is very kind and patient, and never gets frustrated with me (unlike all my other teachers). She is the reason I have been able to excel at violin. Best. Teacher. Ever.
Experienced and enthusiastic violin teacher of almost ten years looking for students! Lessons are tailored to each student’s interests and learning style, while also developing a solid technical basis. Beginning students start out generally with the Strictly Strings method books and are supplemented by chosen songs as they progress. Most important to lessons is for the students to feel their forward momentum and enthusiasm for learning!
Expect fun and relaxed lessons with an emphasis from the beginning of establishing a love and appreciation for music while developing and polishing technique!
Hello! My name is Jessi H. and I received a Bachelor’s of Art in Music from Bryn Mawr College and a Master’s of Music in Theory and Composition from the University of New Mexico. Playing with other people is a great joy and throughout my schooling and afterward, I have performed in in orchestras, chamber ensembles, pit ensembles, and in collaborations with artists in other mediums. I began teaching violin lessons during my undergraduate degree and have maintained a private studio since then, which has been full of a wide variety of students and has branched out to theory and composition.
My intention in the first few weeks of lessons is to identify the goals of each studen
t and how best they learn. While familiar with most teaching methods, I prefer to modify my style of teaching to what is effective for each student. If the student is motivated by what we are playing, then skills grow exponentially faster. Students are encouraged to perform in spring and winter recitals to showcase their progress.
After three to six months, my students can expect to have a solid foundation in the subject they are studying, a start on the repertoire or subjects of their choice, and motivation to keep going!
Jessica is great. Very patient and very interested in my goals.

Jessy was very knowledgeable and give me useful feedbacks and ideas on my playing. I was constantly being challenged in developing my skills and musicality and continuously growing. I would recommend her for any adult beginner like me.

I started playing violin with the Suzuki method at age 5. I have been teaching violin to ages 4 to adult for over 8 years. While not a concert or symphony level player, I have been providing quality lessons and guidance to beginners and intermediate players of all ages and interest for years. As with all of my lessons, I provide a core curriculum as well as custom tailor to the student's needs and interest. From Bach and other Suzuki classics, to modern favorites like Pirates of the Caribbean or Lindsey Stirling.

I have been teaching for over 10 years, performing and recording as a singer/songwriter/guitarist for over 25 years. Berklee College of Music alumnus. All styles of guitar, classical, jazz, blues, rock, acoustic, electric. Suzuki method violin and cello as well as fiddle and folk styles.
Lessons are tailored to fit each individual student's ability and goals. I believe in challenging students while maintaining a supportive and encouraging environment. Lessons will cover music theory, technique, and solo pieces. The goal is to develop in each student the specific skills needed to play a string instrument as well as to nurture an understanding and love for music. Lessons take place at my apartment in Southeast Denver, near Hampden and I-25. Students are expected to prepare for and participate annual studio recitals.
I was raised in a musical family in my home country of Bulgaria, where I attended a highly competitive full-time performing arts school from age 6. I was trained in the Russian school of violin playing and have found this to be a very successful method for my younger students in the United States. Another important pedagogical mentor for me is my viola teacher at Rice University, Ivo-Jan Van der Werff, who has developed a systematic approach to building technique fundamentals in advanced violists and violinists. I believe that studying music is very valuable for instilling self-motivation, discipline, and dedication for students of all ages. I was involved in the Mercury Orchestra's outreach partnership with YES Prep schools, which serve underprivileged communities in Houston. I was also a string specialist at the Village School in Housto
n, and my students there and in other public schools in the area excelled in the All-Region and All-State competitions.
I've been taking lessons since April and have noticed a huge improvement thanks to Koko. He's very positive and offers insightful corrections and alternatives where needed(but also pushes me when needed). Highly recommend!!
Young multilingual (English, Cantonese, and Mandarin) piano and violin teacher who combines the formal traditional Eastern style of teaching, and the fun approach of Western style of teaching into his music lessons.
Fun lessons but also challenging - I believes that fun lessons are easy to gain young student interest, but it often lack to give them motivation. In the lessons, I often challenge my students, let them be self-motivated and become a better musician.
Techniques - I focus my lessons on teaching proper techniques with their instruments. With my experiences in taking lessons from American, Chinese, and Russian teachers, I learnt a great spectrum of techniques and like to teach what I had learn.
Learning pieces and other related topics - Playing pieces and songs is only a small piece of playing an instrument. In lessons, I also teach proper music theory, and ear-training.

I spent many years and my degree at Berklee College of Music learning multiple genres, music theory, high level performance, songwriting, finding a purpose in life etc.
I customize each lesson to the individual student, so no 2 lessons are ever the same. Every student has different likes, needs, aspirations, goals and ways of learning, so I take all of that in to account with the music I give them and how I teach them. Every student will get the same benefits, technique, learning to read music etc., however we will do it with music and genres that most interest them so that the process is fun.
I also coach students to find their passion in life, as well as coaching them on their fears and barriers when necessary, because those can impact the rest of our life and especially now they will learn music and other things!
My goal is to inspire and empower each student through music!

"Alethia is an excellent instructor. She taught our son Suzuki book 2 and they are now starting book 3. In my opinion she blends a perfect balance between
actual playing, violin technique, and music theory. Lessons begin with both of them playing and then she has him play solo. Any issues he has are handled with positive encouragement and relatable exercises. Lessons also include a suitable amount of music theory so our son understands what he is playing and how music is written. Alethia's approach and attitude are fantastic; I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a violin instructor."
