I have studied with some of the finest trombonists in the world, performed in the nation's top orchestras, and am firmly committed to excellence in the trombone field. Music is one of the most indescribably powerful and moving things in the entire world, and I want students to, above all, simply enjoy playing and experiencing this gift. The trombone is, of course, merely a means to an end in this regard; yet its rich, powerful, as well as versatile sound is what particularly draws me to it. My approach to playing the trombone is simple: producing the greatest sound on every note, as easily as possible. I think it is necessary to have the best sound that you can possibly make on the trombone in your head from day one, and to this end, I strive to play as much as possible for and along with the student so that they may develop their own ideal sound concept. I couple this with instruction on all the other fundamentals of trombone playing and music making, such as technique, scales, ...

I have been helping and preparing musicians for performance for close to ten years. I have worked with pop singers, dancers, rock musicians, and musical theater actors.

I like to film or voice record performers so that the student walks away with something to work with. I help with stage presence, announcing, diction, dynamics, blocking, and overall polishing.

I can show you how to improvise any scale or chord on the guitar without reading a single piece of music notation, tab, or chord chart, so that you can play the music that lives within you.

Maybe you want to become a songwriter, or a composer. Or maybe you just want to jam with friends or play your favorite songs by ear. Either way, the process is the same.

I can teach you to:
✅ Write your own songs and compose your own music
✅ Jam with friends
✅ Play any chord and scale on the fly even if you’ve never played it before
✅ Learn music theory by ear
✅ Recognize chords as clearly as you’d recognize colors
✅ Play freely and without restrictions in any musical key

Without:
❌ Studying “licks”
❌ Obsessing over complicated music theory
❌ Getting stuck on restrictive chord charts and scale patterns
❌ Doing exercises that don’t have musical context or application
❌ Learning other people’s music (unless you want to)
❌ Reading music notation, tabs, and chord charts

About Morgan

I am a songwriter and composer with an education in classical and jazz guitar, I started playing 13 years ago, and have definitely had hit my share of plateaus along the way which led me to enrolling in music school. In school, I learned a lot about the intellectual side of music, but I fel

"I can't recommend Mike enough! I always wanted to learn drums but it felt daunting and somewhat inaccessible to me. From my first lesson with Mike, that changed completely. I left his studio feeling like I could absolutely learn to play. In just one lesson I learned a lot about proper technique, reading music, etc. without feeling overwhelmed or bored. Mike explains everything clearly while also making it fun to learn. And, most importantly, he has a clear (and proven) structure to his lesson plans. Concepts are taught in a cumulative manner so that each lesson you make progress towards a clearly defined goal - a goal that you get to help define, be it a specific song you want to learn or a certain skill/level to attain. Mike is knowledgeable about the subject matter and provides insightful tips and homework to make sure you're learning the right skills in a fun and challenging manner. If you want to learn drums, Mike is your guy."

"Whether the yearning of a person to play the piano be as great as a grand passion or as small as a mild interest sparked from within, Howard Richman’s acumen in his piano teaching is comprehensive, ever informative, and the best of all – he makes it forever fascinating to learn.
What is singular in Howard’s approach to teaching the piano is that he incorporates his understanding of life itself into every aspect in how to play the instrument. By this it is remarkable how Howard applies his understanding of a person’s physiology to the most effective extent in order to achieve maximum technique, while always retaining and building on the nature of the player’s individual character/personality. Howard employs logic, common sense, very clear exercises in technique that even include the nature of gravity as in the physical use of the hands, wrists, fingers when playing the piano. Howard makes the learning of any aspect of playing the piano a wondrous journey of discovery and accomplishment. I cannot recommend him more."
