Drum Lessons in Education Hill. Amazing Teachers.

My teaching technique is learner-centered. I work with students to help them build a strong vocabulary of drum rudiments and have them apply their newly acquired drumming knowledge to the songs and genres that interest them most. I have found this to be ideal for those at the beginning and intermediate levels. For the advanced drummers out there, I may be able to assist with some minor application of technique or perhaps deviate from standard drumming practices to acquire a fuller awareness of the body's interaction with not only the drumsticks and drum set, but how to maintain total postural awareness.

For those interested in flamenco, I have a lifetime of experience with the rhythms of flamenco, am a professional cajón player, and study/perform flamenco guitar.

I want to make sure my students have a good time learning drums but I also want to make sure they learn a lot..! I always make sure to ask my students what they want to learn and what their favorite music is... after that, I figure out what type of lessons to plan out.

Beginning to Intermediate Drum lessons and beats that are actually used in today's and yesteryear's "hit songs".

It's no secret, drums is the backbone or "foundation" to any hit song.

I break down drumming to its most basic rudiments so that you will grow by leaps and bounds instead of just crawling along.

You have to walk before you can run so getting it right initially is very important to moving forward and getting you playing your favorite songs quickly and accurately..

My lessons are both fun and educational, with flexibility to honor each student's needs and goals. During my time as a drummer, I have had the pleasure of studying music with Dr. Richard Ripani, Eddie Bell, and renowned big band drummer Duffy Jackson in Nashville, TN. I graduated in May 2017 with a degree in Studio Music/Jazz Performance at UT Knoxville, studying with Professor Keith Brown. I want to pass on all the knowledge I gained from them to you! Instruction also includes how to play correctly so as not to develop negative playing habits. In the case that you have developed negative playing habits, how to correct them.

Emphasis is also placed on proper warm up techniques, stretching exercises, holding the sticks correctly, posture, plus drum kit "throne" seat placement, and correct stance, if playing concert snare or percussion. Independence is also developed through simple easy to grasp exercises. In addition, drum exercises are individually tailored to the particular needs of each student.

Chuck has also developed a special ear training method utilizing CD and MP3 technology. This method reduces the amount of time it normally takes to develop good listening skills. These listening skills decrease the time that it takes to learn new songs, and learn how to interact with other musicians.

My music lessons are fun and educational. Students are busy and dealing with life. Music should not be another thing you "get through". Whether you're young and dealing with multiple subjects in school or you're an adult with a job and responsibilities, music should be the place to escape all of that. I want to teach you whatever you would like to learn and develop a curriculum based on your own wants.
