It was an honor and a pleasure working with Gwen. Due to personal circumstances, I had to stop working with her, but I highly recommend her as an instructor. She's very knowledgeable, accommodating, and made me feel comfortable. You'll find yourself in good hands with her.

The saxophone can be one of the funnest instruments to play, no questions asked! In order to reach that point it's important to have certain things in order such as: sound production, breath support, musicality, and technique. In lessons use a variety of exercises and method/etude books, playing duets together, as well as listening and ear training to give my students a well rounded approach to the saxophone and music helping them to become the best musician they can be.

About Bill

Bill is multi-instrumentalist, jazz musician, composer, arranger and educator. He developed a strong connection to music early in life through some family tradition, encouraging parents and many inspiring and influential teachers. He has gone on to perform alongside a number of noteworthy artists and ensembles and has toured extensively overseas and throughout North America.

His love for music came to life though performances with several ensembles in public school, regional big bands and his own jazz saxophone quartet. He is a graduate of the Purchase College Conservatory of Music's Jazz Studies program and has recently become a graduate of New Jersey City University's M.M. Multiple Woodwind Performance program.

Following two years performing abroad on cruise ships and the national tour of Young Frankenstein: The Musical, he was dr

awn back to New York City. Performing regularly on piccolo, flute, alto flute, clarinet, bass clarinet and all saxophones, he is proving to be valued asset in the NYC music scene.

Bill performs regularly with his group, Bill and the Sixth Generation, while also working as a Broadway pit musician, a sideman and a private music teacher.

*** Lesson Details ***
Every student is unique, therefore, lessons are designed to fit the student individually. My teaching style is molded to satisfy each students wants and needs. I also like to focus on developing proper playing habits. I see it as my job to help my students understand and develop the proper techniques to eliminate bad habits in order for them to be the best they can be on their instrument. Lessons are about having fun making music, learning, and improving.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Chairs, music stands and keyboard for harmonic discussions.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to bring their own music notebook and their own instrument. They may also need to purchase their own lesson books when the time comes.

*** Specialties ***
I can help my students learn how to play in a variety of styles ranging from classical (solos, chamber music, etudes, etc.) to jazz (improvisation, harmony, etc.). Whether they're working on a song to play at school, a NYSSMA or All County solo, or just learning for fun, I will help them play to the best of their ability.

Private Saxophone Teacher

I have been playing various types of saxophone (alto, tenor, soprano, and bari) since I was in middle school. I have played in jazz bands and combos in high school all the way through college. I can teach many musical styles and have worked with beginners and intermediate players.

About Chelsea

I have a Master's in Music Technology from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and a Bachelor's in Music (Technology and Recording) from the University of Indianapolis.
I started on the piano when I was in elementary school. I began playing the clarinet, my primary instrument, in 6th grade. I then started playing the saxophone in 8th grade and started playing the flute in high school.
I also teach beginning trumpet and ukulele lessons. These are secondary instruments for me so I only teach beginners, but I can help you get started! I have played trumpet on my own off and on for years and I play a couple times a month with local ukulele groups.

*** Lesson Details ***
I can give lessons in person (my house or yours) or online! You must have your instrument, necessary materials, and music books at your lessons. You may

need to purchase additional books and sheet music.

Chelsea did a great job at our first lesson! She was patient and encouraging. She gave my daughter good suggestions on how she could improve and things to try in areas she was struggling. My daughter felt so much better after the lesson. We will continue to take lessons with Chelsea

We sent music to Chelsea in advance and she was able to help my son with the difficult parts of his music. The time was well spent and she explained things well. We look forward to our next lesson and working with her over the next month to help him catch up.

Luther stays where I’m at and then helps me go the next step. That is useful for consistent gradual progress without the frustrations of moving either too slow or too fast (I am a beginning tenor saxophone player). Nice interpersonal style, patient and easy going, while methodical.

I think Luther is great. He works with my 10-year old son on piano, singing and even trumpet and violin as needed. My son has to work hard to progress, and Luther customizes the lesson plan for him and seems to understand him well. I'm really excited about them working together.

Do you want to play what is known as the coolest woodwind out there? Move aside, oboe!

During a Corinne saxophone lesson, you will learn how to create beautiful sounds first and foremost. If at first you sound like a goose, fear not! A little bit of time with me will go a long way.

Once you are producing some quality saxophone sounds, we will move on to learning notes, reading music, and accomplishing your goals!

Aside from perfecting saxophone technique, we will also work on musicality and listening skills! These skills are important in bringing music to life.

If you already know how to play the saxophone, I will continue your education in whatever direction you would like to go.

I look forward to working with you!

About Corinne

Hello! Thank you for checking out my TakeLessons profile. My name is Corinne, and my passion is teaching. Great teachers can have lasting effects on their students, and I cherish the possibility of improving my students’ lives through music.

When I'm teaching a lesson, it may seem on the surface that we're only practicing how to play their instrument well. However, with every student that I meet, my goal is to help them learn how to set and achieve realistic goals. A brand new clarinet student’s weekly goal may be to play their instrument for 10 seconds without taking a breath. An advanced clarinet student’s goal may be to master a piece for their college audition. Both students have challenging goals based on their skill level, but the goals look very different!

I believe that goal-setting is an important life skill that can set a

nyone on a path to greatness – as long as they know how to follow through.
My goal is to help YOU reach your goals.

When I am not working with students, you can find me working on my own goals! I practice all of my instruments often, and I am working hard to become a great tap dancer. My non-musical interests include learning about the coffee-making process, learning how to make costumes from scratch, and playing The Sims.

Thank you for your attention, and I hope to meet you soon!

Sean is a very talented, patient, and FUN sax/keyboard teacher. He actually makes me want to practice! He is always in a good mood,

"Out of all teachers and Gleb is the expert in so many ways teaching and applying the lessons to stick and to create a great Saxaphone player. He has so ma
ny techniques in his arsenal to make any student become a Saxaphone player and a good one. His patience, his depth of understanding the music and the student and how to apply make it click. He works for the music and for the student rather than anything else. Gleb, please keep on teaching. You aren't just a teacher, you are a music therapist and a professional one of a kind. You know the ins and outs and from my experience with my child I have seen your artful and dedicated work that money cant really pay it. THANK YOU!"

Maureen is a fantastic teacher."

"Well worth the time and money

Dave was able to meet me where I was and move me toward the goals I had. As as an adult learner, I went in with zero experi
ence with the saxophone but a clear picture of what I wanted to play and somewhat how I wanted to sound. Dave has a great set-up where we have privacy to make noise (sax's aren't known for being quiet). He's able to pluck things out on the piano quickly or to pull something up on the computer or just play. I went from starting out, to wanting to play a few songs, to improvising. Dave has been very helpful and ultimately keeps me improving and moving forward. I've taken other lessons on other instruments, but I will say this is one of the better teachers I have had. He listens well and is able to articulate what he wants you to do --- not trying to be a guru, but more of a guide that keeps you on track."
